The Beaches Stay

Beautiful views, great location, wonderful place
The property had a beautiful garden as well as a fantastic view for sunsets. We found the layout spacious and very comfortable for my large and busy family. All of us greatly enjoyed our stay and found that the location was ideal with quick access to many attractions. We enjoyed snorkeling, restaurants, beaches, and fishing all within a short walk or drive.

Perfect!
The Jayhawk Villa is bright, airy, very clean, and conveniently located very near a beautiful beach, Redhook, and grocery stores. You cannot go wrong booking this villa. Our host provided very clear check-in and check-out instructions that were reasonable. We really appreciated the open feeling of the villa with lots of ceiling fans. The lack of central AC was not at all an issue. The window units kept us very comfortable, day and night. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment to allow us to cook dinner. It was so relaxing and reassuring to get back to such a comfortable homebase after a day of beach adventures. Secret Harbour Beach is an easy walk, offering great amenities, a restaurant with a bar, and gear rental for snorkeling etc. Redhook is a close drive with lots of restaurants. The villa is perfectly located to venture to several amazing beaches, good restaurants, and other sites, while being in a quiet residential neighborhood; the roosters being the only exception to the quiet vibe. We could not have asked for a better accommodation.

Beautiful view and lovely modernized home
Beautiful home and property with a gorgeous view. There is a rooster and 2 hens on the property which I thought was very cute! The walk to the beach is actually 7 minutes - not 1 minute. But you cannot walk there as there is no sidewalk so you do need to drive. Property manager was very responsive if we had a problem. Loved staying there but did not appreciate having to drive all over to find a trash dump to haul our trash on our last day there.

Nice House Near the Beach
Our family of five (3 kids in their 20s) enjoyed our stay at Jayhawk villa. It's a ranch house with three bedrooms, about 7m walk to the beach. Great view of the water, and well appointed kitchen. The primary BR has foliage obstructing view to the water, but the other two BRs have great views. The courtyard is a sweet feature. The walk to the beach is easy, but a bit tight with cars, and steep, especially if carrying gear back uphill. There are limited parking spots at the beach. Was fine for us. We enjoyed dinner at the Sunset Grille there. Owner was very responsive, and the place was clean and in great shape. Nice find!

Blown away!!
Loved our stay! The pictures don’t really do it Justice! It’s bigger than expected! Large rooms and great outdoor space! Decorated beautifully and very clean! All beds were so comfortable which makes a great nights sleep! We had an issue with the water heater but they were right on it to fix. We were close to the best beach called Secret Harbor beach and it was so nice and the Silver Grill restaurant there was our favorite! What a gem and really hope to go back!!

The pefect 50th Birthday Present
Jayhawk was perfect for us. I chose it to celebrate my 50th with my family and to show our children where we met, had our first date and got engaged. We worked cruise ships and our Saturday port was St Thomas. We have wonderful memories of the island. The location to Secret Harbor was great. Fantastic snorkeling and general beach laziness. We ate at the bar a couple of nights too. It is close to a couple of super markets. To be fair, everything is close. We drove around the island in about and hour or so. It's quite the adventure. We will be back for sure.

Delightful stay near Red Hook!
We really enjoyed our time at this darling villa near Red Hook. We spent the days on St. John and St. Thomas and came back to this charming property! The owner was very responsive and helpful and was even kind enough to let us drop our bags early so we could enjoy the day on the island without them in tow. The villa was clean and had a nice view. The descriptions of how to get there were so helpful and check out was easy, as well. It was very close to the ferry terminal and good restaurants. A great location and great place to stay!

Good Vibes!
We stayed at Jayhawk for a friend’s wedding with a few friends. Most of the rest of the wedding party stayed at Secret Harbor Beach Resort and we were so happy to be here! The garden is gorgeous, the porch was so relaxing and the space inside is huge. Not overly fancy but fits the chill vibe of the island. Only negatives I could say are that it is challenging to back a car into the driveway and when walking down to secret harbor, especially at night, you have to watch closely for cars when walking on the road. Otherwise a wonderful time and would totally go back!

Glorious Villa

Wonderful!
My stay was very pleasant. The house was modern, clean and spacious. Although it was 3 of us we had enough room to spreadout and enjoy our me time. The morning views overlooking the ocean was breath taking. This spot is really and gem.

Great Location - Fantastic View
Property has great view. Easy walk to Secret Harbour where there is great beach & beach bar/restaurant. Very well provisioned with all needed. Back courtyard patio is wonderful w/great garden. Good access to Red Hook. If you like to sleep with windows open, you will hear road noise - didn’t bother our group but something to mention. We will be back as we really enjoyed our stay.

Great spot in paradise
The property is decorated beautifully. Great view of Secret Harbour Bay. The house is well stocked with whatever you need and things are nicely labeled and easy to find. Very close to downtown Red Hook for stores, restaurants, etc. Cherise and the property manager, Gloria were wonderful to work with. We had a minor electrical issue and they had it resolved right away. Felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to St. Thomas. It's a sharp turn into the driveway, but if that's the worst complaint, you know it's good!

Just WOW!
Two weeks with three generations in this place and I’m hooked! Spacious, and the deck! We came down planning to do 10 things and just spent most every day within 1 mile of the place. Secret Harbour was the perfect place for our 2 1/2 year old daughter - she swam, made sandcastles and actually snorkeled with us by the end of the trip! We’ll be back very soon!

Great Location and Wonderful Owners!
We have vacationed on St. Thomas many times, but this time we brought our family (4 children) and wanted to stay in a new location. This villa was perfect! It was large enough to accompany all of us comfortably and central to everything we do on St. Thomas. In fact, before this stay, we never realized how much time we spent on the East End. We had always just entered in GPS locations and driven a good distance to all of our favorite beaches and restaurants not realizing they are all down here. The villa is an ideal location- quick walk to Secret Harbour, 4 min drive to Red Hook, and near to other beaches like Coki, Sapphire, Lindquist, etc. They have beach chairs and towels for you and everything you would need in a kitchen to cook family meals- which was important to us. The deck will give you wonderful views of the sunset overlooking Secret Harbour. Secret Harbour has wonderful snorkeling along the rocks on both sides (we watched an octopus hunt for 20+ minutes about 5 feet off the beach and found lobster hiding amongst the urchins) and the food at Sunset Grill is consistently good every time. Best of all, the owners of Jayhawk Villa are amazing! This trip was several years in the making and due to severe life-threatening illnesses and the beginning of the COVID pandemic, it was rescheduled several times; however, Cherise was very easy to work with and always quick to respond to emails/texts. She really wants you to have a great time during your stay on the island. I would 100% recommend Jayhawk Villa to anyone looking to vacation in St. Thomas.

East End Gem close to Secret Harbour
This property has everything you need to enjoy your time in St. Thomas. Most times I go grocery shopping on the way to a property but I highly suggest you visit the house 1st because I learned that every guest seems to leave something you think you may need. There was even coffee creamer, ketchup and spices left from previous visitors. The view from the balcony is lovely especially while enjoying a morning cup of joe. If there was any complaint it would be the bugs (no see-ums as they call them). This has no bearing on the property but you had better be prepared to use bug spray and the nice owner had some waiting by the door. If you leave the windows open to enjoy the breeze make sure it has a screen :). Overall the property was wonderful and both friends I brought are already reviewing dates that they can return and rent from Cherise who was extremely responsive btw.

Awesome Family Vacation
Cherise and Gloria were amazing and very responsive. The villa was awesome and conveniently located close to bars, stores, and the beach. Beautiful views from the villa. Would recommend renting a car (preferably a Jeep) to move around the island. Our family had a great time celebrating my mom's birthday in Saint Thomas. Would definitely recommend staying at the Jayhawk Villa.

Perfect for beach wedding
The property had beautiful views of Secret Harbour. It was very convenient(a short walk) to our daughters wedding on the beach. It was very clean and updated. It accommodated our family easily. We had a wonderful time! If we return to St. Thomas, we would definitely stay here again.

AWESOME!!!
We only stayed one night before heading to the BVI for our sailboat charter, what a GREAT place! Very clean, awesome views, only a few minutes walk to the beach and bar/restaurant, not far from Red Hook either. Cherise was super fast and informative with her communications and supplied great directions on how to get there, get in, etc. Good thing too, our taxi driver had no clue. I would most definitely stay here again, and hopefully for more than one night!

Great house in a great location
This three bedroom home is located just minutes from Red Hook. Restaurants, bars, grocery stores and the ferry are very convenient. The home was very clean with everything you need for a short or long stay. The outdoor living space and views were the highlight of the home. The owner was easily accessible and very helpful. I would certainly stay here again and recommend friends.

We arrived to a sparkling clean house that exceeded our expectations. Conveniently located near Secret Harbour beach and the Secret Harbour restaurant that is on the beach. Highly recommended! We only stayed there one night, as a stop-over after a charter, and would have liked to stay longer but, alas, we're Americans tied to a work time clock and students tied to a syllabus.

The place is .well kept. You have everything you need just like staying in your own house. Request was promptly acted upon when the stove ran out of propane gas. Cherise, the owner returned our several calls even at that time she was in Japan (considering the time difference). We highly recommend this place for families looking for a wonderful place to stay in St. Thomas. Special mention to Gloria for taking good care of us.

Wonderful/Comfortable Vacation Home! Superb views from all rooms!
3 couples really enjoyed our stay at Jayhawk Villa May 10th-May14th 2018. The Villa was Comfortable and clean with superb views! The porch overlooking the Carribean was our favorite spot to hang out when we were at the villa. There is also a beautiful and nicely landscaped courtyard area which we enjoyed as well. Walking distance to Secret Beach which had a nice beach, restaurant and snorkeling right off the beach. Another perk is the closeness of the villa to RedHook where we took the car ferry to St John for a day during our visit (we rented a minivan from Hertz at airport to easily get around during our stay). We also bought groceries in RedHook at Moe's Market. Also enjoyed a few great meals at some of the restaurants in Red Hook. Just around from RedHook is Sapphire Beach which is AMAZING...still my favorite spot on St. Thomas. Highly recommend Heavenly Day Catamaran over at Bolongo Beach for a wonderful excursion!! Also, be sure to take the ferry over to St. John for a day. You can snorkel with Sea Turtles right off the beach at Maho beach!! The island still has some power issues from last year's hurricane season....the power randomly goes off, but usually only for limited periods of time. This was no fault of the homeowner....its a problem island wide. This did not interrupt our vacation in the islands though. We loved our visit back to St. Thomas and were happy to see everything back up and running after the devastating damage from last year's hurricane season. Villa owner, Cherise, was readily available when we noticed we had a problem with one of the ACs in a bedroom. She had maintenance promptly come out the next day and install a brand new AC Unit. Overall, a very clean , comfortable and well stocked 3 bedroom 2 bath villa in a great location with Amazing views of the carribbean. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing time at Jayhawk Villa and the local areas!
The Pictures do not justice with how beautiful this home or the views from almost anywhere inside or the deck. The home was prepared and cleaned beyond 5 Star Hotel quality, the linens and all details were perfect when we arrived. My family had an amazing visit, we only stayed for a few days as we were headed to Tortola for a sailing trip. (Next time we plan to stay longer) I also emailed the owner because just before our trip our sightseeing experience fell apart, I asked for some local things to do, she as always was quick and very helpful. FYI, just a few minutes away is Secret Beach, this is one of our favorite spots in all of the islands! Cheers
