Wonderful place to get away
The property was just as described. We had everything we needed to make it a great stay. It is a bit far out, but there's plenty to do just short rides away. The only thing I can say needs improvement is the beds are terrible. Need an upgrade on the mattresses and that would make it an outstanding stay.

Great house but very far from everything
Beautiful house and property. We enjoyed watching the wild life. Especially the crabs by the dock. Host was extremely attentive. There's two things we would have changed. The location was much further out than we expected. It's a beautiful drive but after a long day with the kiddo it made the day really exhausting. If you are looking for privacy and seclusion I seriously doubt you'll find a better place. The second issue was the sulfur water smell. The host did get someone out to clean the septic but the smell lingered. We bought a lot of extra water to drink so we were ok. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

It was not the septic it was the water softener system. We are on contract with a company for that. The company changed the system size to prevent the smell in the future.

The house was everything we needed to thoroughly enjoy what we love about the area. Clean, inspiring view of Nelson Bay, and the chance to catch drum and crabs right off the shore. Kim was great to communicate with: prompt, clear, concise, and complete. We had a great time!

If you wanna fish, rent this place
From the minute we stepped foot onto the property until the minute we left, we had a wonderful week! The house is not lacking in any way. We fished every day, catching croakers, red fish, flounder, and more, launching our kayaks from the yard. Nights were peaceful and dark, without the annoying light pollution that keeps the stars hidden away, and if it weren't for the biting insects it would be tempting to camp on the back deck. Yes, you definitely need to use bug spray liberally to avoid getting more bug bites then fish bites, but that's a given for the area. It's a laid-back slowed down pace that's just a nice ride to shopping and dining. I wouldn't hesitate to book this house again in the future, and neither should you!

Great Space

We have a water softener system. If you had called we could have sent maintenance to add more salt to your system. We hade great reviews on this property I sorry you stay was less than satisfactory

So nice we visited twice!
We love this little house so much that we stayed a second time just a couple months after our very first stay. This time ready to have full use of the creeks with our new dinghy sized boat. I stayed on that boat every bit of the daylight hours!!! Shrimp, oysters, crabs, drum, and even a mullet were on our menus!!! All from right there in those waters. Absolutely FANTASTIC stay. I love this lil place so much that I want my own! Thank you Ms. Kim for an absolutely perfect place that I can getaway to.

Good Fishing Location
We were there solely to fish and we were not disappointed. Excellent spot for red drums, speckled trout, blues and flounder. House was very clean. We definitely recommend.

The One I’ll Always Come Back To
I am a local business owner, and a special needs parent. So vacations don’t usually happen for our family, we tend to enjoy “staycations” instead. For the last couple years I have been on a mission to find the perfect place to runaway to. Already having found a great love for the Down East area, has had me trying out different rentals out in that area. Well, I am so happy to say that I have found the perfect place!!!! Ms. Kim will be having us visit often! Cast netting shrimp, catching drum, even a black drum…oysters from right there in the creek. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets too!!!! I will be booking this beautiful lil piece of heaven at least twice a year!!!! 🥰 Thank you Kim, for everything! You and the property were absolutely wonderful. I left with the peace that I was searching for. ❤️

Clean, cozy house
Great location for kayaking in the salt marsh. Lots of birdlife around and good fishing. House was clean and comfortable. Living space may be a little small for multiple adult couples but great for a couple or small family. Just the basics in the kitchen so bring spices/condiments if you plan on cooking.

Nice remote home on the marshy Core Sound
Good stay for a fishing vacation. Had room for us to park our boat. Since the boat dock was small and the marsh is shallow, we weren’t able to dock our boat there. There are several nearby public boat launches though. Since it’s on the marsh, make sure you bring lots of bug spray & itch cream for the very hungry horseflies and skeeters. It’s an hour from the nearest grocery store chain (Food Lion) but the local Dollar Generals and mom & pop stores helped out. Make sure you stock appropriately for this stay. Cedar Island is 20 min north and we enjoyed the ferry over to Ocracoke from there (2 1/2 hr ride one way). It’s also an hour from Morehead city to the south where you can enjoy the ocean, beaches, and city life.

Thank you for staying with us. The driving miles to Morehead City is 20 miles and to Beaufort it is 15 miles. Rural roads sometimes take a little longer to drive as you can not go 55 miles an hour but the drive is Very pretty and relaxing

Great Place for the Area
This place is great for the area. My family and I had a great time here. The backyard was amazing, the house was very clean and nicely decorated. The host was super responsive and quick with every question we had. The only complaint is the smell of the water, but that is expected in the area. Also, there were dead roaches in the house. We didn’t see any live ones till the morning we checked out, which was not a big deal. If you’re looking for a house around this area, I would still recommend this house!

Nice Home
The property is as advertised. Cedar Island Beach is about 15miles away. Bigger cities like Morehead are about 40mins away. E caught the ferry from Hatteras Island to Cape Lookout and it was about a 35min drive and 15min ferry ride over. Beautiful beach by the way it's def an experience you need to add to your vacation. Be sure to bring any groceries you need because the closet big chain store like Food Lion is about 35mins away. There is a Dollar General just 2 miles away. The home was clean. Of course due to covid we re-cleaned ourselves just to be sure. Be sure to bring bug spray. Because of the wetlands around there are many bugs of all sorts. There are also little rodents in the yard. I think maybe Voles. They enjoy coming out and eating the grass. There was a dead mouse behind the toilet. I was not very happy about having to pick it up and dispose of it. But at least the pest control the owner gets quarterly does work! The beds sucked! Like seriously. There needs to be new mattresses. They all squeak and all have major dents in them from wear and tear. My spouse and I seriously felt like we were going to fall through the bed because the wicker seemed to be giving out under the bottom. The water does have a horrible smell. I know I could have called Maintenance but I don't want the hassle on vacation. I just want to vacation. If it's a known issue perhaps it should be checked after every rental? The flooring by the back door as another renters stated is a bit messed up. Nothing major or unslightly. The couches could use a good cleaning. Overall, the house itself is nice and modern. Fishing out the backdoor right off the pear, Oyster/crab cage. The view is beautiful. I would not stay at this home again only because of the distance from everything and the bugs. I am bug and rodent-phobic lol. However, because the host was so great I would look at her other properties and possibly rent from those. This is the perfect place if you like the quiet and being out of a busy area, a place to just relax and get away. I am grateful for the experience though.

We advertise the property as being in Stacy. It is 15 miles to Beaufort. It is 18 miles to Morehead City In a water Comminity we keep contracts with pest control, water quality and maintenance. All are available if needed between their monthly visits. We strive for clean up to date homes. New mattress have been order due to C 19 delays in shipping has occurred. Wonderful & Private Home
We were really impressed with this property; the view is so beautiful from the house. It's great to have so much privacy; we couldn't believe how peaceful it was. Beaufort is only 30 minutes away and we had great meals and successful shopping. Cedar Island Ferry is only 20 minutes away- we hopped the ferry and traveled to Ocracoke for an afternoon; great opportunity to explore the island on a golfcart. We definitely recommend staying at this property. Kim the host communicated quickly and respected our privacy. One note for people not familiar with this area - closest real food store is in Beaufort, that we know of (there are Jim Dandy convenience stores close to the house for snacks, beverages and ice). Bring a cooler with food if you want to make meals at this property. Being on the water, it's necessary to bring fly spray. We are looking forward to booking again!

Couples Getaway
Plenty positives...The house is nicely arranged, in a great location, private marsh land on either side, beautiful views, right on the sound, fishing out the back door, or just for looking over the sound on the back deck with seating and rockers as pictured. It has 3 private baths if needed. Third bedroom is a loft, so privacy could be some what of an issue for it to be for a couple, or morning noise could awaken those up there, if early risers decided to venture into the common area. The loft bathroom (I didn't check the others) could use a couple of towel bars/hooks to hang wet washcloths and towels, as a matter of convenience (it did have one hand towel type holder near the sink). First floor laminate flooring is improperly installed or delaminatied in areas, but those things are just minor issues, it is a vacation, not staying forever. The owner and her son Sam, both very communicative regarding issues. We had two major issues during our 5 night stay: 1. the front bathroom shower only ran hot. At first we got instructionson how to use it, but then the plumber came the following afternoon and fixed it. 2. one persistent problem was not completely resolved, as mentioned in an earlier review, the water smells of sulfur (rotten eggs). It was looked at a day later after informing Sam, it ran with out smelling for about a day and a half. But the night before and the morning of departure, it was pretty close to where it began, smelling pretty awful. Not a completely unknown phenomenon to some in the group who have experience with well water. It freaked out one of the party, once she started asking siri about it. Being told it isn't harmful is great, but none of us felt comfortable with the water smelling so strongly.

The water has two water filtration systems. We are on a contract with the water company so they do respond immediately if there is an issue. We try to accommodate all guest and make their stay enjoyable. We keep contracts with all services that guest might need from pest, to water filtration to cleaning Our goal is to make the vacation stress free.

Great birthday weekend
The house was great for my fiancé, me and another to share for my birthday and to take engagement pictures at Cape Lookout. The only thing that was bothersome was the smell of the water and the water pressure. Can’t always be helped at the beach but was unexpected. Still was a great relaxing and fun weekend in the salt air!

Peaceful retreat
My sisters and I found this gem set in the marshes of beautiful coastal North Carolina to be just what we needed to relax and recharge. Everything was provided except food to make our stay comfortable and stress free. We especially enjoyed the scenery off the back deck- beautiful sunrises, a visiting harbor seal and wild turkey, and the calming waters. We will consider coming back.

Peaceful vaca
We absolutely loved this place. With just the 2 of us 3 bedrooms was more than we needed but we wanted something away from the touristy spots and something on the water and this place delivered.The house is beautiful with lots room for a bigger family and nice big back yard. (bring bug spray) We brought our kayaks and had fun on the sound everyday. We visited Cape Lookout and found some beautiful shells on the point. We also went kayaking in Beaufort to Horse island and it was amazing. Thanks for a great vacation.

Pleasant property although supplied amenity shortcomings
Pleasant property and lovely setting. TV not working when we arrived - owners son was lovely in helping us but it would not have been necessary if there were instructions. Provisions were meagre: 1 dishwasher tablet(!), two filthy sponges for cleanup, which we discarded, several lights out, moncolsnder or wine glasses. We enjoyed our stay but these were inconveniences disproportionate to the effort required to avoid them. We hope this info will be helpful to the owner.

There is an information notebook left for guest to explain how to use the television it also list activities in the area and favorite restaurants. Light bulbs sometimes go out we have a maintenance crew —-had we been called. We strive to provide An enjoyable modern clean environment for our guest at a reasonable price. Our rental business provides a lot of jobs for local people in an area where we are very tourism oriented. With that in mind we all work very hard to meet the guest needs. We are a phone call away when anything comes up.

Want to get away? This is the place!
We stayed in August at this lovely inner bank home. Our family of six enjoyed the space and having 3 FULL BATHS! The view was lovely! Bring bug spray ;) We fished and took the ferry to Cape Lookout which was exactly what we were looking for during this time of social distancing. If I could improve anything - in would be more beach towels (there were 4) and make sure you bring any staples for cooking/baking as the pans and utensils are in the house for some home cooking! So we were able to eat in for every meal, wonderful! We would love to return again sometime!

Peaceful and Private
This was our first time using VRBO. The home was clean and well furnished. Enjoyed the sunrises over the sound and explored the nearby waters with our kayaks. We will definitely consider this property for future get aways.
