Lovely location, friendly folk
People there were just so friendly. The food was good, and the breakfasts simply stonking. Beautifully located opposite the church, and it was a delight to hear the bells being rung on the Sunday morning. I would have liked to have brought my dogs - and they are allowed in the bar - but not in the bedrooms, so i made other arrangements. The advertising needs to make this clearer. Do the bedroom windows open? I didnt quite have the strength to do it.

The WiFi is non existent that made it extremely difficult to carry out work on my laptop in the evenings… the hotel don’t offer food on a Monday and Tuesday night that was disappointing and if I known that I wouldn’t have booked it. I complained about my shower as the water pressure and temperature was very poor. I was in the superior room number 1 and the music and noise from the bar was rather annoying and it the music and bar was open past 11pm every night. Over all I doubt I would stay at the location again. For the price paid I had a lot higher expectations!!

Good morning, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel, I'm sorry to read there were a few things that you were not happy about. The water pressure - we offer raindrop showers, they aren't power showers that we are mostly used to at home and in many hotels. We also state the restaurant is not open on Monday and Tuesday in all of our correspondence that comes out automatically, our food offering has been the same for a very long time, apologies that you may have missed this, we do recommend local venues that serve food and we hope you enjoyed them. We always aim for the venue to be closed by 11pm, having looked back on the cameras, I can see that Monday the lights were off by 11:15 and Tuesday respectively by 11:30, which does give our team time to clean down after the customers have left. If you would join us again and would like to stay in the same style of room, Room 9 is at the far end if the restaurant and would be much quieter earlier than Room1, and we can always try and ensure you have this room. Again, I'm very sorry to read that we weren't fully up to expectations, but I do hope you will give us another go and see that we can be better as standard.

Saturday break
Stunning location , easily accessible from the m1. Striking building with quirky coves and corridors. Staff are exceptionally friendly and polite food delicious , lovely bar area. Rooms are lovely and cosy and again some really quirky additions with the old fashioned phone. Nice touch. Highly recommend to everyone . We will certainly return.

Hello Graham,Thank you for taking the time to write a review, as it was explained to you at the time, we were having difficulties with our internet and it was out of our hands - a problem with the actual lines that a service engineer from BT had to fix. Once again we are sorry for this, there was nothing we could do about it. We have now had the problem resolved and the internet is fully operational again. Kind regards

The hotel was excellent the room we stayed in was decorated well clean and well looked after. You had plenty of choice with drinks in the room decaf or normal tea and coffee as well as hot chocolate and specialist teas. The bed was very comfy. The staff were polite and friendly. The food served in the pub was excellent. We had to be full English breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.

A very lovely pub with large, very well equipped rooms in the heart of Sedgefield town. Although no food is available on Monday and Tuesdays in the pub… and there is a very good menu…there are good alternatives within a short walk. The experience was only flawed by the total absence of serviceable wifi in my room. Very good reception almost to the door … then nothing. This could be a good thing sometimes, but not if you have work to do! A £30 range extender would cure the matter. A minor matter, disproportionately frustrating. Would happily stay again… but maybe with working WIfi

Having attended the popular, local festival Hardwick Live, we walked back to be greeted by a member of staff stood in the doorway to the bar telling us it was closed and we had to go straight to our room. This is despite others being in the bar, and being able to see people stood at the bar ordering (we were hoping to order hot chocolates - very rock and roll!). She then told us to take off our shoes before we went any further into the building (our shoes were wet, but perfectly clean). Not the most welcoming! I don’t they want people going to the festival staying at their establishment.

Good morning,Thank you for your feedback, I have spoken to the team working that evening and checked through the CCTV myself to get a better picture of the comments you have brought to my attention. I apologise on behalf of my team if they came across as unwelcoming, they have assured me this was not their intention and i did find it surprising myself knowing the team who were on duty at the time. I can confirm that the tills had been taken off and there was definitely no more bar service available at the time of your arrival back to the venue, from the footage i have seen there is a few last remaning guests finishing up their pints and they leave the venue a matter of minutes after you made your way upstairs. Again, my apologies if you felt their demeanor was unwelcoming - i have spoken to them all and we have taken this on board.

Very quaint stay.
The hotel is very nice, the room was really comfortable with a newly decorated interior. Comfy bed, good amount of tea/ coffee/ water all free and they also provided some Tunnocks biscuits nice touch. The bathroom en-suite was quite large and had a good shower and sink. Breakfast was excellent and the young chef did a great full English using good quality products and all cooked to order. Thank you for a lovely stay.
