We really wanted to love this place and make it our go-to for Stowe in the future. While we'd probably return to this resort in the future, we would not return to this particular unit.
Highlights:
1. The location of this resort in Stowe was great. We had easy access to all of the hiking trails we wanted and it was close to town/restaurants
2. King bed (it's sometimes hard to find rentals with king beds), kitchenette, and large bathroom were nice. And while we didn't need it, there was plenty of extra seating if you are traveling with a group and all want to hang out in the space
3. Nice view of the mountain/gondola
Cons:
1. This unit is very noisy. It is located directly across the hall from the ice machine room, so you are frequently hearing the door open/close and ice being dispensed. The balcony also overlooks the valet parking area. While the valet itself wasn't bad, there is a grate in the road that cars drive over when pulling up, and it makes a loud "clunk" sound every time.
2. Privacy. This unit is on a corner, so the balcony actually connects with the balcony of the unit around the corner. There is a divider, but if anyone is out on the balcony of that unit (or even just near the door), they can easily see into your unit. There are two other units/balconies that provide this direct line of sight into the unit. We were fortunate in that those 3 units didn't appear to be occupied, but it's a consideration if wanting to use the balcony (or even just have the curtains open) of this unit.
3. Our biggest issue was that the AC did not work reliably (would blow room temperature air instead of cold air) and the room would get warm (the thermostat read 75 degrees at one point). This is something we contacted the owners about, and the best resolution we got was them dropping by a fan and instructing us to open the door to the balcony (since it was slightly cooler outside). For the reasons already mentioned (noise/privacy), opening the door to the balcony was less than ideal. They asked a maintenance worker for the resort to look at it (note: this unit is considered separate from the rest of the rooms, so this was a special request), who stopped by and noted that it wasn't working properly, but essentially stated that this is something the owners would need to deal with. I would probably consider the AC issue a one-off, had there not been other minor maintenance issues (lightbulbs out/flickering, TV randomly turning on) suggesting inattentiveness.
