Owner was very helpful in getting us set up. Very spacious and well laid for 4 people. Up to 6 people would not be an issue. Good area by centre square in Ortigia. Market 5 minutes away. Good restaurants very close by. Nice location to explore the areas in the south east part of Sicily!!!

The property was great overall. Fantastic location, great price. It was a bit of a process to check in with the on-site manager Ms. Diana because we spoke no Italian, but we got there. Would recommend.

Great Location for a Short Stay

This apartment had both pros and cons for us. Pros: The apartment was very well-located. (Note:It is not accessible by car, so our driver had to park on the main street and help us wheel our luggage in.)The apartment was roomy, light, and comfortable. The gathering space had plenty of seating.The downstairs bedroom was quite roomy, with two large wardrobes, a very comfortable bed and access to a small balcony. The upstairs bedrooms were comfortable, but watch for the sloping ceiling if one is tall. Both the wi-fi and the air conditioning worked well in all parts of the house. The kitchen was usable and quite well-stocked. (Please note that the oven was just a toaster oven and the stove is only a two-burner.)There were plenty of dishes and utensils. The host answered all our online questions in advance and even arranged a taxi for us to Catania airport Cons: The biggest con was the stairway to the top floor . The stairway is narrow and the walls and railings in some places are in ill-repair. If one is mobility-impaired, the stairway could be daunting. We were lucky to have the host arrange a porter to bring our luggage downstairs when we checked out. Unlocking the door, very complex. (At least there were two sets of keys provided.) Also note that the shower cabinets were quite small.The host, Mrs. Diana, was very friendly and welcoming, but spoke little or no English. Overall, though, we enjoyed the apartment and we thank them for helping to make a pleasant stay

Great location in Ortigia.

We liked the place, in general, and the owner was very nice. Kitchen pretty well equipped, air conditioning was good and worked in all rooms. Neighborhood is terrific and conveniences are everywhere. Short walk to Talete Parking garage. What we did not like was the very low ceilings in the two upstairs bedrooms, the super tiny bathroom upstairs with a shower that no one could really fit in. We were there for a week and were left with one bath towel each. Mattresses were very uncomfortable. We've stayed at a lot of rentals across the world and these were pretty bad. And, it is 68 steps up to the apartment so use caution if you are not in great shape. Tough for carrying suitcases. Also, says they speak several languages but when the owner showed up, she only spoke Italian. If you don't speak it, be prepared with a translating app.

Best Location

This apartment is in an excellent location and it was clean. There are a few things you should be aware of. Shower stall very small - I'm not a big person but super tight turned off water if you moved around a bit. Larger men we traveled with had difficulty. Also could use a few extra towels. The upstairs is like an attic so for taller people this could be a problem. Overall it was good and in a great location. Also need to have cash for a deposit which I might of missed reading about but that came as a surprise- 100 euros. I got the deposit back without issue but sometimes people don't travel with much cash.

Short break with my family

Lovely traditional apartment in the centre of Ortygia. Great roof top views with swallows and swifts flying past - apartment spacious with everything we needed. Friendly and helpful welcome by Diana.

friendly owner, good location, lots of space, value for money, wonderful place!

The 4 of us felt really at home on the top floor at Via Dione 94 towards the northern end of Ortigia in Siracuse. This is an excellent location. The house door and the communal staircase were unpromising but the apartment itself was fine and spotlessly clean. We had intriguing rooftop views out of all the windows. The kitchen was well-equipped and homely. The central living room was comfortable. Bedrooms were all fine, although the two upstairs doubles have low ceilings. Master bathroom was good, but the one upstairs has a low ceiling and needs a bit of work on the fittings and water pressure. Aircon (necessary even in mid-Sept) worked well. Diana, the owner, was very helpful and friendly, but her English is limited. Overall we had very good value for our money. Ortigia is a wonderful place with many historical and cultural attractions, nice waterside areas, exciting & mouth-watering markets and loads of good restaurants, bars and ice cream shops. If you come by car, park it in one of the big carparks for the duration of your stay (quite cheap) and go everywhere on foot (and/or by boat).

Sehr sauber, grosszügig, ideal gelegen

Wir waren nur zu viert, also hatten wir viel Platz. Die Betten waren bequem, die Badezimmer und die Küche gut ausgestattet und alles war sehr sauber. Aber am besten war die Lage der Wohnung, mitten im Herz der Altstadt Ortigia

Wonderful stay in Ortigia

We loved the apartment and the location! Perfect for the six of us. We enjoyed being on a quiet street but so close to everything that makes Ortigia so enjoyable. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen adequately equipped - perfect for breakfast, and the living room was perfect for evening conversations with a glass of wine. Our host, Diana, was charming. In truth, I think the apartment exceeded our expectations. We hope to be back in two years.

We wish we could have stayed longer

This is a lovely, extremely comfortable apartment in the heart of beautiful Ortigia within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and sightseeing. Even with its central location the apartment is still very quiet. The kindness and courtesy that Diana showed our family of 5 that includes two children is surpassed by none. While the apartment is located on the top floor, the climb is not difficult. We highly recommend this apartment and getting to know Diana.

😘House & Owner simply wonderful !!

The apartment is centrally located on a quiet street in the historic Ortigia district and a short walk from all the sights, shops and restaurants. The apartment is nicely decorated with what we called "contemporary IKEA".. The rooms are nice and the beds comfortable. The bathrooms are small but adequate. Kitchen is well stocked. We had no problem cooking breakfasts every morning, and one group pasta dinner for the 5 of us. We had very good communication with the owner who seems to assign all the on-site tasks to his mother Diana. She is simply wonderful! She met us when we arrived and immediately got in our car to help guide us to find the best parking. Not easy to find free parking, but the 10 Euro a day lot is only a 4 min walk away. She also happily came by anytime we needed help - extra set of keys, WiFi, check-out, etc. I would absolutely recommend this apartment.

A lovely location and apartment but spoiled at the end of our stay.

Our lovely stay in Ortigia was spoiled by the unfair behaviour of the owner. A 63 year old lady in our party was trapped in a small bathroom for 2 hours with no other means of escape when the door key broke in the lock after she had turned it in a normal fashion. Workmen had to be called and the door frame broken to get her out. The owner claims that she must have used unnecessary 'power' to break the key and would accept no responsibility for her distress and added insult to injury by refusing to return our deposit of 100 euros. We are astounded that the owner could blame us for the damage caused by a key and a lock that was his responsibility to maintain. We should also add that the apartment is at the top of three steep flights of stairs and has no wi fi as advertised.

Can't wait to return to Ortigia

The house is very comfortable for a family. The small bedroom downstairs was perfect for my 4 year old and what a blessing to have all the toys for the kids. Be prepared to climb almost 70 stairs with your luggage, but this is absolutely typical of any building in Ortigia. The house is perfect walking distance from everything. The location is stellar. Thank you!

Great Accommodation for Exploring Eastern Sicily!

Two couples enjoyed the comforts of home in this well-appointed apartment in the heart of Ortigia, Syracuse. Ortigia is so charming and ancient and this modern apartment, in an old, old building is a wonderful home base for enjoying the island, the city of Syracuse and the surrounding region. The apartment is just as described in the listing, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped enough for us to make a few spectacular dinners at home with fixings from the daily market just down the street. It was great to have 2 bathrooms (for two couples) and all the amenities for a comfortable week long stay. Be sure to ask about the details of driving and parking in Ortigia before you arrive. There are strict rules about where you can and can't drive and the rules are not obvious unless you are informed in advance (we had a rental car, spoke no Italian and hadn't thought to research this ahead of time). There was an excellent parking spot for us, but the driving restriction is something you really need to be aware of for arrival and departure planning. The apartment is well taken care of and the owners are very attentive to the comfort of their guests. Travelers should be fit and prepared for three flights of stairs up to the apartment and another narrow flight up to the second floor bedrooms (there are 2 main floor sleeping rooms also). We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this apartment. We'll go back and stay there again if we have the chance to return to Sicily!
