Located in the fabulous Bay of Plenty, Mount Maunganui is famous for its endless white sand beach, year-round surf, Pilot Bay Harbour and beautiful Mauao. At the end of the peninsula the iconic Mauao stands elegantly at 230 meters tall. Everyone has the option of taking a leisurely stroll around the flat base. The more adventurous will have fun reaching the top and be rewarded with the spectacular 360-degree views. Downtown Mount youâll find a laid-back strip of shops, bars & restaurants that offer all day dining most with alfresco tablesâŠâŠ.Pick up a treat or souvenir from one of the locally owned boutiques, enjoy an ice cream or coffee, browse one of the weekly markets or soak yourself in one of the salt water hot pools or treat yourself to a papering session at one of the spas. For exploring a little further, the Bayhopper local bus service runs between Mount Maunganui, Bayfair, and Tauranga. Uber also operates throughout the area, making it easy to catch a ride when you need one.
Bike and e-scooter rentals are a fun and flexible way to get around, especially along the scenic beachfront paths.
If youâre driving, youâll have access to a secure underground car park. Additional public parking is available nearby, though it can be busy in peak seasons.
However you choose to get around, The Mount makes it easy to explore at your own pace.your car you're unlikely to need it for a while as most amenities are within walking distance. Local buses, Uber or lime scooters are an easy way to get around.
