This a summary of the letter you were sent. Dear Sir Thank you for your letter regarding your recent stay with us. Firstly I would like to say I am very saddened, although sadly not surprised to receive your letter, being briefed by our restaurant supervisor. I am surprised you found my staff to be less than satisfactory; the calibre of our staff, their professionalism, courtesy, training and experience, is recognised by many reviews that illustrate the above by happy customers. I am sorry that my staff did not appear to want to actively converse with you during your stay and as a result you found their service lacking but I can assure you that you sadly set that tone yourself when you threatened a ‘bad review’ if the price of your steak (which you ate) wasn’t halved. Most people do not take kindly to being threatened and as courteous, friendly and professional as my team are they are like most folk in this respect, for which I cannot fault them. I would recommend in future should you be dissatisfied with any part of a meal or stay you notify staff immediately in a kind and considerate manner, as by doing, you are guaranteed that mistakes will be rectified happily and without hesitation. As for your stay with us, I can only apologise that some of your expectations were not met and assure you that we strive daily to operate with the highest level of customer care at all times as evidenced by the majority of positive reviews we receive. Thank you for your detailed review. I am glad you found the staff, the accommodation, food and bar areas and the setting to your liking. Being an old converted Farm House and Barn the exterior is a little tired looking in areas. We did manage to renew 70% of it 3 years ago and did paint the exterior but the wet and dank weather we have at times takes its toll. One day we hope to manage to do the second stage which was to rebuild the east end and add a further 14 bedrooms and frame the remainder of the building with the lovely colonial veranda. Unfortunately the exterior development stages are having to be a long term project. We wish you well and hope that you will visit again the the future. Regards David & Team

As discussed at the time of your check out there was absolutely nothing wrong with our hygiene, the food standards or your room, however as a gesture of goodwill we fully refunded your dinner bill. You wanted your whole stay refunded, which we refused as there was absolutely nothing wrong with your room and you did threaten to do this very thing if we did not acquiesce to your demands. Luckily for us, we are not easily spooked by threats and held our ground and here we are (sigh). You were not the only customer during this period, nor the only one to eat the foods you ate but you were the only one who mysteriously "struck ill". We have a fantastic staff here, who work tirelessly and take the utmost care to ensure our high standards are consistently maintained and I take particular offence to anyone inferring the opposite. We cannot offer an explanation for your illness other than to suggest you may have contracted a virus during your travels as happens from time to time. We can assuredly state you certainly were not poisoned by our food or a table (which incidentally are disinfected after each use). You have mentioned our other positive reviews and for this we thank you as you are right about one thing; by and large our customers love their stays, the food, our staff and our cleanliness, which is clearly evidenced by our rating and reviews. In short we are sincerely sorry that you were unwell and that that impeded your enjoyment of our lovely family run establishment and we do wish you every success in your future travels.
