Ligger på centrala halvön Blair's Bay, kommer du att upptäcka detta charmiga sommarhus från början av århundradet (byggt 1913) i det mycket önskvärda Glenburnie-samhället. Det första du kommer att märka vid ankomsten är den färska, svala bergsluften, doftad med tall.

Utforska vintagehuset och egendomen med sina vidsträckta gräsmattor och gamla stenmurar, terrasserade ner till vattnet. Du kanske ser Great Blue Heron, som stannar dagligen till sol och fiskar från klipporna. Porcupines, beavers, många chipmunks och en mängd fåglar kallar den här egenskapen sitt hem också. Det finns ett överflöd av naturlig skönhet, utanför misshandlad vägen och borttagen från vägen och trafiken.

En typisk dag kan börja med en frukost innan du går in i det djupa, klara vattnet framför huset. Därefter kan du vandra upp Record Mountain för träning och spektakulära vyer. Du behöver en annan simning, och du kommer säkert att arbeta upp en aptit för en "al fresco" lunch på verandan. Eftermiddag båtliv, vattenskidor och slangar lägg till din perfekta "Lake George Day."

Vinda ner med en tyst kajak resa över bukten, före kvälls cocktails på verandaen och en bakgård grill. Samla runt matsalen bordet, som är identisk med den som Georgia O'Keefe och Alfred Stieglitz hade i Bolton Landing hem, medan du njuter av lantbruksprodukter och hemlagade måltider.

Nightfall presenterar en spektakulär jeweled himmel, med de ljusaste stjärnorna du någonsin sett. Koppla av på verandan med värmen på den unika utomhusstenen. Två verandor - en av köket; en annan utanför vardagsrummet. På övervåningen finns två sovrum två sovande verandor, alla med enkelsängar; två enkelrum och två fulla bad.

Wonderful property, private, beautiful. On a peninsula so water on three sides. Pictures don’t do it justice. Host was very available and helpful. Old and very charming house. Phenomenal views. Great hiking right down the block. We are hoping to be back soon.

5 Stars – A Perfect Lakeside Getaway!We spent a full week at this charming lake house and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The views of the lake and surrounding mountains were absolutely stunning. The water was crystal clear, perfect for swimming all day long, and access to the water made it easy to hop in a kayak or just relax by the lake.The house itself has a quaint, cozy charm and offered just the right amount of privacy. It felt like our own little lakeside escape, yet the neighbors we did meet were kind and friendly. We especially loved the peaceful evenings — sitting outside under a sky full of stars with barely a sound around us was truly magical.If you're looking for a relaxing, nature-filled retreat with unbeatable lake access and breathtaking views, this is it. We'll definitely be coming back!

I’ve been renting in rural Lake George for over 40 years. I’m used to rustic cabins, bugs, no air conditioning, and the occasional hiccup—this comes with the territory. However, this is the first time I’ve encountered a rental where the listing felt dishonest.Before booking, I read some concerning reviews and reached out to the owner directly. She assured me the issues had been resolved. I specifically asked about garbage removal since my family was flying in and couldn’t take trash with us. She promised her cleaners would handle it. Once the refund deadline passed, she told me they would only take a small amount and that I should drive into town to dispose of the rest. She also revealed—after booking—that the house has no washing machine, despite the listing stating “laundry.” Her suggestion was to do laundry in town. The outdoor shower is a hose.Most of the windows don’t open, and those that do often have torn screens. Worse, there were smoke alarms not in all of the bedrooms.

Breathtaking views, unparalleled tranquility, rustic charm

Great choice for our family getaway! House has a lot of charm and rooms with amazing views. We loved the front porch, relaxing along the shore of the peninsula and swimming off the rocks. We brought our boat and rented the dock at the adjacent boathouse which was well protected and easy to access from the house. The host Susan was great to work with and connected with me ahead of the trip to ensure we had all the information on the property.

blissful vacation!!

The waterfront peninsula was nothing short of magnificent. And the house was extremely clean and comfortable. As an artist/musician, I was able to focus in a peaceful environment. My long time friends who vacation in Hague came over a few times by boat. We enjoyed boat rides, swimming, grilling and relaxing on the porch. I would definitely do this again!

Beautiful property not ideal location

I will start off by saying the property is beautiful. Our families enjoying swimming off the dock and using the available kayaks. Unfortunately, I did not realize how large Lake George is and the great boat trips, railroad biking and nice shops/restaurants were an hour away. We loved spending a few days swimming and hanging out on the property but spent several days traveling an hour each way to enjoy other activities. The property manager treated us more like Inn keepers then guests. She made sure to come by and let us know we had to close the windows whenever we left (despite the lack of air-conditioning and the fact that the upstairs gets fairly warm), pull in all the cushions from the outside furniture so it didn't get wet if it rained, and even came into the house while we were there to complain about our children putting their toys near her art. Be aware there is no laundry washer or dryer, despite the advertised coin laundry. The property manager also takes a $250.00 payment for cleaning service, but you are expected to take all your garbage and recycling with you. You can bring it to a center about 30 minutes towards Vermont. It you live in the Tri-state area, that would add an hour to your trip home. We brought all the garbage/recycling we had from the week the night before we left, to the center, so we could try to clean as much of the trash as we could. However, we cleaned out the refrigerator the next morning and had room in our car for the recycling, but not the bag of garbage. It was a problem for the property manager that we left that bag. I think with a $250.00 fee, that should include disposal of the trash. Overall we had a beautiful week. Lake George is a beautiful location but next time we would choose a different property closer to the main tourist area.

Charming old house with gorgeous lake views

Three generations of family stayed in the house for a week. The property is A+. The house is in the woods, and surrounded by water with lake views and access on three sides. It is very relaxing just to sit on the porch or lawn and contemplate the beauty that is Northern Lake George. The house is old and quirky and could use some TLC. There is no air conditioning but the living room windows are not screened which made for a choice of a very hot house in the late afternoon or open the windows for cross breeze and let the bugs in. I advise you to bring extension cords and extra fans. The house heats up starting around 4 pm and cools off around midnight. The house draws its water from the lake so you must boil water or buy gallons of water to drink. That wasn't clear to me from the listing so i am mentioning it, but it turned out not to be a big deal to pick up water in neighboring Ticonderoga. Lake George water is famously clean and clear so i had no problems with bathing in the lake water. If you are coming here to enjoy days on the water, boating, fishing, swimming in the crystal clear waters and kayaking, and are ok with a quirky old house, this place will be a little slice of heaven. I loved it. If you are expecting modern conveniences and updated interior then this may not be the house for you.

Gracious lakeside home with beautiful views and easy access to swimming and kayaking.

The owner was solicitous of our needs before and during our stay in her beautiful family vacation home. We especially enjoyed the spacious porch for reading and eating. The home is situated on a shallow peninsula so that there are great views of the lake on three sides. We watched stunning sunsets and the star filled sky from the elegantly landscaped lawn. Exquisite!

Summer in Paradise!

Staying here in Brown Gables was delightful. The weather was typical of Lake George: some days warm and sunny, most days cool and sunny. My grandchildren enjoyed learning to swim at the sandy beach nearby and racing in and out of the house afterwards. I recommend this cottage to any people who are giving their grandchildren a summer vacation. There is lots to do if it rains, as well, such as hide and seek in this multiroom summer cottage. Lots to explore both indoors and out!
