“Faboulus historic hotel from the days of horsecarriers, great interior and exterior. Highly recommended, great value for money. Pretty surroundings in these twin villages. Do not understand any of earlier given critisism.”

“Right in the center of town and an easy walk from the train station in Barnstaple. Everything is right there in walking distance and it's all just as funky and charming and welcoming as can be! The hotel's foundation has sunken a bit (or more in some places) which is charming but a little disconcerting if you're thinking you might fall out of bed!”

“I stayed here again after four years—back then we were in Clydesdale Court, and this time we chose the guest rooms in Holland Hall. The campus was beautifully quiet during term break, and the staff were as friendly and helpful as ever. My room was simple yet spotless, with a lovely view. “We requested two doublerooms but we got two singelrooms. The rooms were not three star quality, they had no refrigerator, no aircondition, and the decor looked like it was from the 70s. The staff was nice, but the management was not.”

“Fun little hotel with high standard. The room was big with a nice and clean bathroom. Stairways are very narrow but that adds to the charm of the old building. There is a pub in the same building but no noise from that in the room. The hotel does not offer breakfast, but there is pleny of nice breakfast places around. Highly recommended!”
