“This is the first time I’ve been back to Liberty in years, and it is still the same wonderful resort. The staff have been there for a long time, and are all lovely. Breakfasts are good. The gorgeous tropical gardens are amazing to walk through. The location is good, very easy to walk to all the dining options. 3 pools, so you could find sun or shade any time during the day. Our room was great too, loads of space and very well kept. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Tulamben. ”

My one thing I didn’t love was that the bathroom, which is separate from the main room, did have a lot of small ants on the counter. The bathroom was an outside section though so I don’t blame the resort at all, just adding it in as a little warning for people, keep your toiletries in the bedroom with you. "At first glance the place looked great and met our expectations. However after checking in and seeing our rooms and the different facilities we were a bit disappointed.
The reception staff we talked to initially was very nonchalant and we did not feel welcomed. The rooms are worn by age and it is obvious the place has seen better days. If you want a cozy, relaxing jungle visit I suggest a more modern resort. If you want more action I suggest booking something closer to Ubud as the daily shuttle service is always delayed by traffic."

"This hotel really exceeded all my expectations! We chose Padma because it has been on the top10 list of hotels in the world for some years, and I really understand why. Located in the middle of the jungle Padma just excels in every aspect. And the staff does everything they can to make you feel like a king, while also seeming to really enjoy working here. I especially want to mention Pande at guest services/butler, going out of his way to sort out everything from excursions and outings to having our luggage taken care of, making dinner reservations.
Also, the hotel’s own guide Rolan joined us on a waterfall excursion and was an absolute delight, knowledgeable and conversational, while taking us to some amazing sites for a great experience (I’d highly recommend both the outing arranged by the hotel and Rolan as your guide!)
And I have to mention Murdana and Santano in the pool bar as well, making happy hour into really happy hours together with their equally skill full and entertaining bartender colleagues Yogi, Lana and Setiawan to just mention a few. They’ve all been part of making our stay at Padma really extraordinary!
Good to know is that Padma Resort is located roughly a 45 min drive from Ubud, with very little else in the vicinity, so make sure to book it with breakfast included (it’s an amazing breakfast buffet with a stunning view). The hotel has two restaurants with extensive menus, but after a few days you might still want to look into going into town."
