“Old-fashioned but very nice place to stay. I asked for a quiet room and they gave me a room towards the street.....as the hotel wasn't very busy i would've thought I'd be given a room towards the back.

The pods are great, all clean, the double bed is definitely cosy but their description of the pod on the website is accurate, it is basic but they never profess to be anything else. Barbecue in front of each pod is great, we cooked supper and breakfast on it, for all you carnivores, the butcher in Fownhope is fabulous. If you just need a base to chill out in, this is absolutely perfect.”

“Super accommodation. The staff are ultra attentive and the food is first class. Beautiful part of the world to stay in but maybe a little remote for some. Only slight drawback was we were housed in the ground floor room of the boathouse and the noise of people walking around in the room above is very loud. If they got up in the night it wakes you up.”

The breakfast and food in the restaurant was generally excellent (but I would avoid the Eggs Benedict). Blaenavon is a pleasant quiet village with some local sights to see like the National Coal Museum and convenient distances to Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons by car.”
“We had the hayloft that could sleep 3 but was a win for us as a couple. It was in a out building, with easy access to the garden, bar and dining areas, but was a bit difficult to get suitcases over the gravel pathway. Very quiet, lots of space and windows to open. The restaurant meal and breakfast was fabulous.”
