Been staying here since 2006 but not been since 2021. Disappointed that hotel not the luxury it once was, mainly because the dining wasn't very good now. Breakfast was good but not as good as before- no freshly squeezed orange juice & menu limited - no eggs royale, eggs florentine nor kippers etc. In the evening we had the same menu every night in the restaurant-food was good but variety would have been better. e had meals in the bar too & that menu stayed the same. Most disappointingly of all was when the Brasserie opened at the weekend, but instead of the lovely menu formerly offered this time it was the same old bar menu served in a different area!

Excellent all staff were very friendly and accommodating. We could not have asked for a better place to stay right on the water front. The staff were so amazing always, answering our questions with a smile from the hallways to the front reception. The spa was out of this world.

Overnight get away
The reception staff bickering between themselves were clearly stressed and had issues, slamming the phone 4 times whilst trying to get hold of a colleague was quiet uncomfortable for the 4 guests trying to check in. Once in our room, the bar staff and restaurant staff were professional but lacked warmth, the breakfast team were amazing, professional, efficient and friendly a credit to the hotel. Food was good.

Not as expected. We have stayed here 3 times before and was fantastic this is why we booked again. I know we came on a deal for B&B but what a joke the room was. Then the bed was so soft and full of lumps it should have been thrown in the skip a long time ago. Thankfully the staff on reception changed our room and the bed was very soft but had no lumps. I was disappointed that in the room there were no pictures hanging up and no full length mirror, not even inside the wardrobe door. The only thing going for the room was that it was clean. The swimming pool was as I remember it...Brilliant. Breakfast was very good but where have the gorgeous curtains gone and the white linen tablecloths? The new look of the hotel looks cheap. The new seat covers in the conservatory are poor. I could have done a better job myself and I don't even sew! Thank goodness you have kept the nice pieces of furniture around the hotel but they look out place as the hotel is not high end anymore. We will not be staying here again.

Location and cleanliness were exceptional. Staff on arrival at 3pm stated our room was not ready. We returned at 3.30pm and were told the room was still unavailable but offered an alternative room. The pass keys provided did not work and a return to reception followed. This was tedious after a long days travel and being greeted by the above situation

I liked the friendliness of the staff even though they were very short staffed. The fact that we were upgraded without a request, view was amazing. Furniture lovely in the bedroom. room 201 next to corridor entrance door so could be noisy at bedtime. Furniture lovely in the room. Spa area smelled heavenly. Disliked, shower not very powerful; hotel not spotless. for example dog hairs on conservatory settees, as dogs allowed to lie on furniture. Bedroom carpet was cream and stained in places, sink plughole dirty and dust on bedhead. Tables not wiped in bar area. Wine by the glass expensive £16.50 for a large glass of Pinot Noir. (250 mls) Maybe I have been watching too much 4 in a bed.

Good Location Poor Restaurants
Hotel Location is very good particularly for tourists with access to the steamer, Steam Train and surrounding area. Hotel restaurants are being managed to a reduced capacity due to lack of staff, when you check in they ask you book time for restaurant, including the brasserie, yet they are not full, ie Started "only a table available at 7pm" yet when we arrived only 3 tables in use and only 10 in the whole evening. Day before we were directed to Brasserie, very disappointing food at local pub would have a) been much better quality and b) a better choice. They have also introduced a 10% service charge on everything, even when you go to the public bar and order and collect own drinks, then they add a further charge on check out for other gratuities based on daily spend, this is stretching tipping to the limit

Lovely luxurious hotel, staff very friendly. Spa area beautiful, brilliant therapists. Only downside was the jacuzzi wasn’t working. You’re right next to lakeside ferry terminal which is convenient. Had a lovely restful stay.

My friend and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Lakeside. We had incredible window views, fantastic service (special kudos to Leanne, Lewi and Alexandra), and access to the wonderful villages of the Lake District. Hope to visit again!

We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly. It was lovely speaking to Kevin, the hotels gardener too. The grounds are kept lovely overlooking the lake. We had a doggy room which was spacious overlooking thd lake. The spa facilitates were very welcoming on a wet and windy day. It was also nice and peaceful sitting in the conservatory with a coffee. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice. A lovely choice of meals in the restaurant and also the pub area if you want a more layed back approach. We will definitely visit again.

Poor experience.
Unfortunately very disappointed, the room looked absolutely nothing like the photos, extremely dated and dirty. The noise over night was quite loud, especially creaking floorboards above, so this disturbed us. We also had a meal in the restaurant, we paid £68 for 1 of the 3 course meals, and £54 for the other. Given the prices, we expected an amazing meal, unfortunately this wasn’t what we received; it was mediocre at best and the portions were incredibly small. The wine we ordered had nearly a 500% mark up, it cost us £59 and we found it online for £12. To top off a poor experience, we came to check out and the hotel had added a £5 gratuity on to an already large bill.

Lovely location, very relaxing. Lovely pool and spa facilities. The staff were lovely, but rather stretched at times. The main issue seems to be the management's pricing policy adding "discretionary" charges to everything. This is not an inexpensive hotel, but we were prepared for that. The standard three course evening meal started at £49 each. Then supplements applied, lamb £8, cheeseboard £4, steak £18 plus £4 for a sauce. If you want a side dish, such as chips, or carrots £5 each. On top of these prices there is discretionary 10%. The cheapest bottled of red wine was £29 plus 10%. This very wine is available at our local for less the £12, so an £11+ premium is being charged. The Brasserie, with a less formal menu does not operate Mon-Wed, so there appears to be no choice, but to opt for the £49 three course option. The hotel is fairly remote, so not much choice within walking distance. A new path has recently been installed to Newby Bridge. It is smooth and well surfaced. It is a nice walk and takes you to the Swan, where we had a lovely meal, without feeling we were a cash cow. The food was of an equivalent standard as at Lakeside. The star light walk back was very pleasant. On checkout, you are also faced with a £5 extra charge, for each night you have stayed. The charges can be removed at checkout, but this is not how you want to depart, quibbling the price leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Presumably, not the experience the management had intended.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful spot. Drinks on the terrace looking out over lake Windermere was stunning. The Brassiere restaurant was excellent, very high quality food. The spa was very relaxing with great facilities. I felt the the bedroom needed a refurbishment, walls were chipped and a some aspects like carpets a bit marked. This however did not distract from the stay. We had a wonderful time.

We recently spent two nights at the Lakeside Hotel which is a beautiful property right on Windermere. The hotel is a great mix of classic look and feel with modern facilities. We really enjoyed the food and drink at the hotel along with a nice pool and spa. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location for exploring the lake is fantastic.

Pretty from the outside and a lovely location. The inside could do with some updating, the conservatory was leaking while I was there and it seems quite short staffed. Had to wait a long time/go looking for a staff member if you wanted to order drinks. Dined in the bar for dinner one night and the flavours were off. Calamari ridiculously salty and the pasta dish had zero taste and needed lots of salt and pepper adding. It was a lovely stay but to me it seemed overpriced for the quality of the room and the above mentioned comments.

Great hotel, great staff, amazing stay.
From checking in to checking out, we were looked after and made to feel every part of our stay was relaxing, comfy and very enjoyable. All staff from all departments of the hotel were very friendly and helpful thoughout our stay. The hotel was immaculate and its location was beautifully placed to enjoy the surroundings or take a cruise up lake windermere and view even more beautiful sights.

Beautiful location
Lakeside hotel has a beautiful location although slightly off the main Lake District area, we found it peaceful and relaxing. There’s actually nothing apart from hotels at Newby Bridge. Having said that, children can enjoy feeding the ducks at the lake edge (free duck food available at reception!) and you might get to see the Peacock wandering around the grounds. Ferries take you to Bowness and Ambleside, which you might want to consider as parking in both places can be difficult even mid week. In terms of food, the restaurant is described as ‘fine dining’. The quality of the food can’t be faulted but we thought some portions very small for the price. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our two day break and enjoyed chats with some of the many overseas tourists who were staying there.
