Due to the absence of snow, we decided to check out a day early. As Vail is renowned for its skiing, this was a reasonable decision. I had communicated this to the front desk manager, Robert, during my check-out. However, I inadvertently misread his nameplate and referred to him as Roberto when expressing my gratitude for his assistance. This oversight evidently offended him.In an attempt to rectify the situation, I mentioned the prevalence of Robertos. Robert responded with a sarcastic remark, clarifying that there was only one Robert at the hotel. On our way to Denver, we contacted Expedia to inquire about the possibility of obtaining a refund for our last night’s stay, as we had departed early. We had made a prepaid reservation through Expedia, and we understood that the option for a refund was at their discretion. When Expedia contacted the hotel to request the refund, Robert informed them that we did not qualify for a refund due to our departure caused by the lack of snow. Consequently, Robert charged us for a room that we no longer occupied for the night. I hope this incident provides some closure, Robert. I have been a loyal customer of Marriott for several decades, but this experience has ended. This is the last booking I will make with Marriott. The poor judgment and petty decisions made by your staff will have significant repercussions. I strongly advise you to avoid this establishment at all costs. You will be charged for services not rendered.
