Bra läge, prisvärt

Trevligt hotell, helt ok rum. Fördelen var främst nära allt; strand, shopping och restauranger ca 10 min promenad. Frukost ok, men inte mer. Någon dag fanns ingen kock på plats, så då blev det enbart toast och te. Bilfritt och lugnt område. Prisvärt utifrån våra behov. Det enda negativa var att vattnet i poolen var väldigt grumligt och ofräscht, trots att den städades. Tror inte det fanns klorin i vattnet, det gick inte att se bottnen.

Pls do not not book this hotel!

This hotel does not have a tie-up with hotels.com and does not honor the reservation/confirmation from hotels.com. We reached the hotel only to be told that they do not have a tie-up with hotels.com or expedia. Fortunately, it was a 'Pay-at-Proeperty' reservation and hence did not lose any money. Hotels.com tried to book another hotel for us but were unsuccessful and finally agreed to reimburse any extra cost if we found another hotel on our own. Overall, a bad experience both from the hotel as well as hotels.com as they have not verified this property.

Wonderful place to stay.

We enjoyed the hospitality of this wonderful hotel. There is a good swimmingpool, nice restaurant, and the rooms are spacy. All in the staff are very kind and helpful.

The Thiruvambadi is a great hotel. It’s in a convenient spot at the very end of the cliff ‘strip’ so, if you turn left out of the hotel, you’ve can walk along the clifftop past lots of shops and an endless choice of restaurants. However, turn left and you’re soon wandering along quiet, picturesque beaches. The aquarium’s good too. Our rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable with sea view balconies, modern bathrooms and comfortable beds. The hotel grounds and garden were attractive and immaculately kept. The friendly staff were always available. Unfortunately, when we arrived, at the beginning of November, the swimming pool was being serviced and was only refilled and useable on the day we left. It was a very slow start to the season (Because of the floods in July) and the restaurant was only open for breakfast. There were problems with the WiFi and engineers were there trying to fix it without much luck. Fortunately, the manager provided us with a dongle which enabled us to get internet access in our rooms. Probably the most difficult thing was that there was no hot water while we were there. Staff would gladly bring us up buckets of really hot water when requested but that’s not quite the same. We were old hands at Indian hotels and understood that the hot water could be unreliable or only on at certain times but none at all was a bit too much! However, we did get the impression that these issues were all temporary and, as a rule everything would be fine. If

Over all great resort ..

This guest house location is very great , 1) Beach Facing 2) not so crowdy so very peaceful .. - Rooms are very comparatively big and very clean .. - resort very spacious .. - Comparitively big and clean swimming pool near to beach . - need to mention manager Mr. ANNOP who is very helpful and adjustable and very caring.. Only negative morning breakfast can be improved .

Good in parts

Position was good although not directly on the beach. Pool was lovely. The rooms in the larger block were probably better although our were basic. The WiFi was unreliable. The food was slightly dubious so ate out even for breakfast. Varkala was lovely which made up for it.

Nice Hotel close to the beach with WONDERFUL staff

First of all I can`t rate this Hotel highly enough for the friendliness and helpfulness of the Staff. The manager is extremely approachable, professional and speaks excellent English. He helped to make our holiday a very enjoyable one. We really enjoyed our breakfast as there was so much choice and our waiter will never be forgotten, he`s lovely. If you want your towels and bed linen changed you only have to ask and the staff are very willing to do it. We think that this Hotel is excellent value for the money and have no complaints. On the plus side as well is that the small beach is only 2 mins walk from the Hotel. Plus transport and shops are only a short walk away. The air conditioning is excellent in the room as is the fan. We also had a fridge in the room. There is also free WIFI which is good.

great location

We actually had a lovely time here, but we're really easily pleased and don't look for flaws so were happy with the location of our room (right next to the pool) and with having the pool itself. We stayed for 7 days though and were never offered housekeeping, so no clean sheets or towels and the bin was never emptied, the balcony fell apart and the pool became unusable because of clouding issues. The staff were friendly though and happy to help when they were asked.

Looks good on the website & outside & not all bad

I stayed here 2nd week in October & their 'season' gets going in November. Also bear in mind this is a cheap place & it is India not Europe. There was cleaning, tydying, a bit of building going on maybe it will improve but it advertises as open all year.. The hotel is at the end of a (2-3 km?) long road out of town that ends in a small beach. Looks impressive from the outside; 'Reception' appears to be an old desk outside with a calculator & papers on it; sometimes there's someone there but I often walked in or out & saw no one at all. The lobby is a high-sided dark grey musty-smelling space that echoes and seems to amplify any sound like voices or doors. There was also a mosque 'next door' & the 'call to prayer' made a good night's sleep just a dream! The room smelled musty and was grubby to put it mildly but the bed was ok & big. Good wardrobe & cupboard space. The bathroom was a good size, fully tiled & recently modernised. There was hot water, eventually. The aircon didn't work, someone said they'd get it fixed but didn't; the electrical socket it plugged into was smashed. Their website talks of great restaurant & spa facilities? Neither! they have a 'social media' page with a glowing review....mmm who posted that? Breakfast was sad. There was a nice small pool to cool down in & a small beach nearby but the main Varkala beach was a 1km cliff walk past pestering stall holders & some OK food places - just as well as there was not even a shop or cafe by the 'resort' itself
