  • Baltija är en bungalow med fyra sovrum belägen i underklippen St Lawrence, belägen på den sydligaste spetsen av Isle of Wight, och njuter av södra vyer med glimtar från havet och ett soligt mini-mikroklimat. Fastigheten ligger i slutet av en lugn väg utan förbigående trafik som gör att du kan njuta av lugnet och de vackra omgivningarna i ett område med enastående naturskönhet i denna del av ön.

    Fastigheten rymmer 6 gäster och är bekvämt inredda med två sovrum med dubbelsäng och enkelrum, familjebadrum och separat duschrum, fullt utrustat kök och öppen planlösning / matsal. Bungalowen drar också nytta av en stor trädgård som huvudsakligen ligger på gräsmattan på framsidan med ytterligare en gräsytor bakåt och ett stort stenhus. Det finns en täckt utomhus sittplats på framsidan av fastigheten och en annan sittplats på toppen av en sten på östra sidan av trädgården. Det finns också gott om parkering.

    Från bungalowen kan du ta en trevlig promenad (10 - 15 minuter) längs gångvägen till Woody Bay. En 10 minuters bilresa tar dig till Ventnor, en viktoriansk kuststad med byggnader fulla av karaktär. Förutom den största shoppinggatan där du hittar ett urval av små stormarknader som inkluderar en Co-op och Tesco Express, finns det parker och trädgårdar, museer och Winter Gardens - en nöjesplats med ett växande rykte för teater, konserter, komedi och dansshows och naturligtvis restaurangen / baren. Det berömda Ventnor Haven Fishery at The Marina säljer den dagliga fångsten av färsk fisk och skaldjur. båtturer finns också härifrån.

    På vägen till Ventnor stad passerar du Steephill Cove där du hittar en caf & eacute; och restaurang bland de handfulla stugorna som ligger bakom denna vackra sandstrand. Tyvärr försvinner de flesta av stranden under högvatten, men under lågvatten finns det många stenbassänger för barnen att söka efter. Ventnor Botanic Garden som ligger i det anmärkningsvärda mikroklimatet i hjärtat av den berömda "Undercliff." Denna unika trädgård är skyddad från de kalla norra vindarna med kritnedgångar. Förutom att njuta av de vackra trädgårdarna, är det också värd för evenemang och utställningar och det finns en restaurang och Caf & eacute; på plats för förfriskningar; lunch eller kaffe och kaka!

    Det finns ett antal fantastiska restauranger i Ventnor och på Esplanade inklusive The Spyglass, The Ale & Oyster och Smoking Hummer, för att nämna några. Eller om du vill ha en take-away för att njuta av vid stranden, så säljer Ventnor Haven Fishery på Esplanade fantastiska fish & chips, lokalt fångade och beredda att beställa.

Decent holiday home

An old photo, now more enclosed. A bit dated but fine for a week's holiday. Shower claustrophobic. A shame the nearby stretch of coastal path was closed (and looked overgrown). Unfortunately did not see any red squirrels but plenty of other wildlife.

Peaceful stay

We had a lovely break in this well presented bungalow. It was lovely to be a bit of the beaten track and so quiet but still easy to get to all the places we wanted to visit. The bungalow is very well equipped with plenty of kitchen equipment and waste bins in each room (often missing in holiday lets). Comfortable beds with great pillow. In fact everything you need. Only slight down side was the TV which has a slightly complicated set up that we failed to make work using the instructions, but there is good Wi-Fi so managed to watch when we wanted to using catch up and streaming services. We did report this so hopefully it will be sorted out. Overall a lovely bungalow in in a secluded situation that provides a peaceful and comfortable holiday.

We loved Baltija

We have had a wonderful week at Baltija. The bungalow was very spacious and well-equipped. The location was so peaceful, and we were able to take a walk down to the coastal path and the local bay one afternoon - beautiful views. The staff in the office were very friendly and helpful when I rang with a couple of questions, and they booked our ferry for us with a discount. We definitely want to return.

Dated but comfortable

A large property that has not had much updating since it was built. Well equipped and most things worked well, although I suspect it might have taken an entire day to run a bath! Pleasant grounds. Would be a very economical place for a large family

Lovely and relaxing

Clean and well presented, well equipped and spacious, quiet and private location. Stupendous weather. Found shower over bath hard to regulate. Try Eco plus a moderate setting. A few more sockets wld be good for devices, also a better vacuum cleaner. We would certainly visit again.

Dated property but a great location

Nice quiet setting and spacious property but dated and very cold with no heating in the summer months. We had a chilly week unfortunately and were unable to enjoy sitting outside. Empty welcome basket on the table and no milk in the fridge. Have never not had anything at all provided before, milk and biscuits or cake makes a better first impression. Lots of coffee pods/sachets which I don’t drink and no ordinary tea bags just speciality/organic. Kitchen well equipped with good crockery and handy to have a dishwasher. Information leaflets and posters could do with refreshing as some were several years out of date. The bathroom sinks all gurgled loudly and water spurted out the sink once when the bath water came out. Plenty of hot water. Not for us but would recommend overall for the location and space.

Adequate cottage in need of TLC

Musty smell on arrival, out door furniture needed cleaning before use, relaxer chairs needed replacing. Heating and hot water system a challenge, shower over bath would not maintain a constant temperature , the water control on second shower fell off. All very dated, tourist informacion was mainly 3 years out of date. No welcome pack of any sort. Well equiped and good sized rooms.

A lovely family holiday home.

Baltija was a comfortable holiday home that was ideal for our 3 generation family holiday. A little dated in decor but very clean and well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious with comfy beds and nice quality bed linen & towels. A few more electric sockets would have been handy in the bedrooms, but we purchased an adapter which solved the problem. The bathrooms were very clean and served their purpose. The showers were not particularly powerful but again served their purpose. The lounge & dining area was very spacious with enough seating for all and a lovely outlook onto the garden and beyond (sea view!) Our grandson used the high chair and that was very handy! The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything and more that we required during our stay. We only used the outside decking area a couple of times but if the weather had been warmer in the evenings we would have used more! The bungalow is a little dated in decor but it didn’t affect our holiday. Overall we all really enjoyed our stay in this lovely quiet location and it was a great base to visit the many lovely places on the IOW. Thank you!

Needs a Bit of Updating and EV Owners Beware

The property was generally OK, quite clean and with relatively new kitchen appliances, but in need of some re-decoration and, on balance, rather expensive for its location and state of repair (see later). My main complaint however is that with 2 weeks to go to my holiday start date I was emailed by Island Holiday Homes and given a unilateral instruction that I was not allowed to top up my electric car on the property while staying there. There was no discussion or consultation on this, nor any indication they would be ok with top up charging if I paid an extra charge. I usually rent 2 or 3 holiday cottages per year and this is the first such restriction I have seen. I realise power costs are increasing but a top up charge would only have used approx 40kw or charge - say £15 - and I would have been happy to pay this. Instead I was forced to make a 2 hour trip to Tesco Extra/McDonalds near Ryde, on the other side of the island, to charge my car. I have also been advised that this last minute change to the holiday let was an illegal change to the contract and I would have been within my rights to cancel the let without charge if there had been time to do so. I would not have rented the property had this restriction been shown when I first made my booking via Cottages.com. I am not seeking any payback or compensation but I do feel that if a property is advertised on several sites then all those sites need to show the same details and restrictions and it is not acceptable to change those terms of contract unilaterally on just the one site. I must also say that the state of some of the property decoration, very, very low hot water pressure/flow in the bathroom (it took 20 minutes to part fill a bath each night for my Granddaughters to have a bath!) and the property having a selection of old dvds but an out of order DVD player meant I would not recommend it as a value for money holiday hire for other families.

3rd Visit

For us this has been the best property we’ve found on the island. The Undercliff is a beautiful, quiet area well placed for visiting the rest of the island. The coastal path close to the bungalow has excellent views. A very comfortable, spacious place.

Peace and tranquility

If you are looking for a relaxing place to spend a week or two, Baltija will certainly provide that. I have stayed at this property for several years, if you like walking there is plenty to choose from in the area, coastal or cliffs, I can recommend High Hat, where you can pick up the path from Seven Sisters Road, it’s a steep climb up but you will be rewarded with magnificent views.

Lovely location out of town but not cut off

The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and a well equipped kitchen. Great location for coastal walks, and not too far to get into Vendor for shopping (can't help the lack of a pavement in places!) One thing I would improve would be the size of the 'double' bed - did it a bit hard sleeping comfortably.

Generally the bungalow was good and in a great location however some things were lacking.

A good quiet location and very comfortable accommodation. However the property did not quite come up to our expectations due to the following:- 1) No welcome note, milk or anything else (surely not because of the corona virus?). 2) There was no key in one of the bathrooms so could not be locked. 3) One bedroom had no light bulb (and no spares that we could see) 4) Some of the dishes in the cupboard had mould on (possibly put away wet) and some other bowls and cutlery were rather dirty. 5) The books from the shelves had been bagged (which was fine) but these appear to have been thrown into the airing cupboard around the spare sheets etc and some had come out of the bags onto the sheets. 6) During a power cut the night lights that we were told to use were not present above the cooker and only tall candles were present which we were told NOT to use! 7) The window in the kitchen could only be closed by pushing it from outside. 8) The vacuum cleaner didn't appear to work so cleaning was made more difficult. I would possibly recommend this property to others but as the choice is either yes or no so I have had to choose the latter.

Issue of wight holiday home in a Wonderful location

We come to the Isle often to visit family and have stayed in many places. Ventnor can be steep so when we found this bungalow we thought it would be perfect for her. It's not very modern and the showers were very powerless but other than that, we thought it was perfect. Sitting on the veranda eating breakfast was lovely. Its a short walk to woody bay which is a quiet beach, albeit a bit rocky. It was very quiet other than chickens next door and the odd lawn mower. We'll be back!

Lovely holiday location

This is a really spacious bungalow with a great outlook. Good to have a well equipped kitchen, it's worth bringing some coffee pods for the Lavazza machine - it makes excellent coffee. The outside dining area was really popular, we had all our meals there. It doesn't mention it the property description that there are views of the sea from there. The walk down the lane to Woody Bay was a great end to each day.
