Kōtare Lakeside Retreat is a luxury cabin set on a 6-hectare lifestyle block next to the picturesque Lake Ngapouri. The perfect retreat to come away and stay with your partner or friend to unwind, relax and escape to the country with the bonus of direct lake access where you can kayak, swim, or fish.
Exquisitely designed with luxury is at the forefront. The cabin sleeps two guests in a king bed made up with quality linen. Lounge around on the two-seater couch or on the swivel occasional chair which is perfect for reading a book or soaking up the scenery. Enjoy the lush wool carpet, and the heated tile bathroom floor on cooler mornings. Make the most of the summer days and open the large stacker door for indoor outdoor flow and sit out on the covered deck admiring the views and breath in the fresh air. A hooded BBQ is available to cook outdoors with a pizza stone also.
The kitchenette is well-equipped with a coffee machine, fridge, kettle, toaster, air fryer benchtop oven, twin hotplates and essential crockery, pots and pans, glasses and mugs. The essential tea, coffee, milk etc are provided.
As the sun sets and the evening draws, soak up the atmosphere by toasting some marshmallows on the outside fire or relax in the stone bath looking out to the lake or under the outside rain shower under the stars.
Head out to enjoy many natural wonders in the surrounding area – Waikite Valley Thermals Pools, Waikite Golf Course, Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland, Rainbow Mountain, Kerosine Creek, Hot and Cold Pools are all 5 minutes’ drive away. Waimangu Volcanic Valley is 12 minutes. Or for some recreational activities, the Waikite Golf Club is 5 minutes away, and the Rotorua Redwoods Whakarewarewa Forest is 15 minutes’ drive, which hosts more than 180km of trials for mountain biking, walking or running.
This is a slice of paradise perfectly located to a variety of attractions and amenities, with Rotorua an easy 20 minute drive and Taupo a 40-minute commute.

This place was absolutely amazing. The attention to detail really stood out and you could see the effort put into all the little things that make a stay comfortable and enjoyable. From the incredibly comfortable bed and soft towels to the quality shampoo, conditioner and hand wash, everything felt thoughtfully chosen.The setting is beautiful, located on a farm with lovely cows and sheep around, which made it feel peaceful and unique. The property itself is exceptional and clearly designed with comfort in mind. The TV that doubles as a picture frame was a nice touch.We also loved the thoughtful extras such as fresh milk and farm eggs waiting for us. The outdoor area with the heater, bath and shower was fantastic, and there’s even a short walk down to the lake. It was incredibly quiet thanks to the double-glazed windows and the peaceful surroundings.The location is also perfect, being close to great attractions like the Skyline Rotorua Gondola and Luge and Huka Falls, which made it a great base for exploring the area.We would definitely rate this place 5 out of 5 and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the region. The only downside was that we wish we could have stayed longer.

One of the best places we’ve ever stayed! Every detail was well thought out. Very clean and comfortable. Relaxing surroundings with cows grazing on rolling hills that can be seen through the kitchen and bathroom windows. The fresh fruit, yogurt, milk and eggs they left for us was such a sweet touch. We also enjoyed using the outdoor shower. Just wish we could have stayed for longer.
