Amazing House!
This house was the perfect place for a family gathering. It was an architectural dream! The view from the wrap around desk was amazing and the gas fireplace was warm and cozy. The kitchen was extremely well stocked--we lacked for nothing. The house itself offered rooms for large family gatherings while also offering private spaces if someone wanted some quiet time. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who is interested. In fact, we are trying to find a time next year that we can all gather here again! Thanks for a great vacation!

Centrally Located for all Our Needs
We came to hike Vermont's quintessential peaks and appreciate the fall foliage. The home/resort (okay this place is magnificent) is centrally located for hikes in the area, i.e., Camel's Hump State Park, Mount Mansfield etc. And, if bad weather persists like we experienced, there are mega options in the Shelburne area and beyond for grand adventures. Our routes changed daily and we were always thankful to return to our rental and shower, do laundry, cook dinner etc. We had a few hiccups during our stay and the Vacasa team were immediately on line and responded in person as well. We were impressed by their response time and support. The home is spectacular. I mean gorgeous inside and out. The grounds spectacular. The amenities perfect. I will add that the lighting and heating systems are clearly designed for ultra technically trained persons. We had to get a texted video to teach us how to turn on the heat. It was below 40 degrees inside when we arrived. One local Vacasa person respected our frustration saying she agreed as well. Overall, I give the lodging a 10 star rating starting with communication and response time, then addressing the home, space, decoration, location, views, amenities etc. It truly ranks as lifestyles of the rich and famous.

Large well appointed house
10 friends gathered to celebrate a big birthday. The house was clean and well stocked. we loved the spaciousness of the house and the gourmet kitchen.

Beautiful setting
Property is set deep in the Vermont woods, with a giant deck overlooking the Mad River Valley.The House is Fine, though the sheer number of light switches (some of which appear to have no effect) was confusing. Overall, a nice, rambling house fit for a large group.

The worst rental experience
Pros: great location for skiers/hikers. Cons: - "By booking with Vacasa you automatically agree to a non-refundable damage deposit and if something is broken at the time of arrival nobody is going to fix it". - The house is neither fun nor cosy, not a welcoming warm place where you are looking forward to coming back in the evening. - Abundant family pictures - dozens of strangers staring at you everywhere, including beds and toilets. - Inaccurate listing: at the time of booking it said the house had a "wood-burning fireplace" which it did not. There is indeed a wood -burning stove with a giant lock on it. - "Do not" signs on everything - even on the washing machine, although the house is very basic and there is nothing there that can be easily broken. - You can not use the garage too so brace up for shoveling. - The shower plate at the main bathroom was hot but extremely weak. The Steam shower didn't work. As a bonus: local Vacasa support service does not pick up the phone or/and responds messages. The entrance code box was dead but they sent us a check-in code anyway. Also we forgot to empty a drawer, paid a fee to get our stuff sent over and after Vacasa confirmed they found it nothing was ever shipped. Key take-away: never book through any intermediaries as after they got your money they do not care at all.

This home had a wood-burning fireplace but the owner recently did a renovation and put a propane insert into the fireplace. We have updated our listing information to note the home has a gas fireplace. Great Family Ski House
This house was perfect for a 5-day trip to one of our favorite places to ski. Three generations of our family occupied the house--plenty of space, great ski vibe, and great location. Many thanks for an awesome trip.

Warm and cozy retreat
This is a uniquely custom home that is both quirky and whimsical while also being cozy and warm. Wood abounds with many different lighting options and seating and sleeping for ten but bathrooms for less. Only one en suite bathroom (with a steam shower and big Jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom.) Lovely views nestled in the woods with a very short trip to Sugarbush. Great visit!

Unique incredible experience
We all thoroughly appreciated the unique beautiful wood design of the home. The kitchen appliances are all high end and very welcoming for a family. We enjoyed the close cross country trails and Sugar Bush downhill skiing as well as the hiking / biking trails.

Nice area and beautiful house
Booked to celebrate my husbands birthday with friends. Great area. Loved Prohibition Pig and the pubs around town. Had a huge scare when we entered the house. After we turned the lights on we smelled burning and it got worse. The light switches are very confusing to figure out and the burning kept getting worse. Turns out one of the decorative rugs was on one of the lights and started to burn. We couldn’t figure out what light switch it was so we ended up taking one of our bags and knocked the rug off the wall/light. Not a great way to start the trip off but we removed all the rugs so this wouldn’t happen again. Other rugs looks burned as well so this wasn’t the first time this happened it looked like. Other than that the only other thing that bothered us was that the cleaning could have been better. A lot of dust and webs in a lot of the rooms, it is a big house but it was noticeable. House speakers were great and we made dinner at the house the first night. Beautiful area, would stay again for sure.

The property was comfortable and had plenty of bed rooms!(9 adults) The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and the living room was very comfortable w a gas nice fire place. 10 min from Waitsfield/4 min from Sugarbush. Awesome location!

Quiet retreat with beautiful views and yard. Loved cooking for family here - well appointed kitchen; uniquely decorated. The home was our home base for our daughters wedding at Sugarbush and was just perfect!

Great time
The home itself was magnificent. The only downside was the condition of the deck area. All the benches and decking were covered with debris and green. I understand that at this time of the year needles still fall and some pollen but it should have been in a more clean condition. We couldn't sit on the benches. Other then that it was really really a beautiful home and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful, unique, high end ski chalet
It was a treat to stay at 190 Upper Pines, just down the hill from Sugarbush Resort! Excellent chef’s kitchen w/breakfast bar, overlooking the dining area, so the chef can still enjoy the guests company. Great space with separate living areas, which is great to provide space for both adults and kids. Living room has gorgeous views of the valley and we captured a spectacular snow moon sighting. Luxurious master bedroom and bathroom with high end, stone steam shower. The kids bunk rooms were adorable. We would definitely stay again!

Vermont dream house in idyllic setting
We couldn’t be more pleased with our stay at Upper Pines. The owner was very accommodating and responsive, the kitchen is well equipped, and the home offers lots of privacy to adult guests and families. We enjoyed the architecture and views from the house and nearby hikes and attractions. The house has great outdoor lighting so you can sit, enjoy a fire, and watch the snow. It also has heated flooring which felt great on cooler days. I found it to be a great deal cost-wise and would highly recommend it to all of my friends and family.

Wonderful retreat for a family reunion
We rented Upper Pines Lodge for a family reunion coinciding with our daughter's wedding up the road at Sugarbush in August. The place is fantastic, easily accommodating 10 adults with plenty of room to still maintain privacy. While the house is spectacular, the beautiful mountain views from the wrap around deck are breathtaking and the perfect place for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The accommodations were very comfortable and the kitchen wonderful for preparing meals together and equipped with everything you need! The owner, Jack, made sure that we had all the information necessary to enjoy the lodge and surrounding area. I highly recommend a summer stay in the Mad River Valley and this is the perfect place for home base.

Perfect Snowy Getaway!

Wonderful place, great location. Well maintained. Definitely recommend!
Had just a wonderful time here. It's a great place with fine attention to detail. The location is very convenient. The owner is quick to respond and extremely well organized. The beds are foam and I thought very comfortable. The kitchen is modern with nice appliances. Wifi moves well at 15-20Mbps. We had 10 adults and had no Internet problems. We had a great stay and I hope to come back again.

Great Log Home
We stayed after Christmas and really enjoyed the home. There was enough space for us with an area in front of the fire place for people to hang out as well as a separate TV room where you can shut the door to keep TV noise in. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and we loved the heated floors in parts of the home. Jack the owner loves his home and wants you to enjoy your stay. He will check in with you and make sure that you have everything you need.

Incredible space! Not a thought missed!
You can't even go to a luxury hotel and have them think of as many things for you as Jack has done for guests at this getaway. Details are key for a successful getaway and there are none that have been missed. EVERYTHING is documented. I did not have to call Jack a single time to figure out anything in the house. You literally can go to this place and have everything you need to enjoy yourself. Obviously bring food and stuff, let's be realistic. But the views, the new deck, the radiant heating, the steam shower, the incredibly comfortable beds... I could go on and on. A family or a bunch of friends, regardless of your crew, will definitely be able to enjoy themselves here however you want. You will still be wowing things in this place the day you leave. Absolutely worth it. Even if minimal time will be spent in the place, it's worth having the peace of mind that someone else already did all the thinking for your lodging needs.

the perfect home
This home is so perfect for any group, large or small. Extremely comfortable and spacious and afforded us many opportunities to have intimate conversations with a few or all be together as a group. The kitchen is perfect for preferring large meals and is stocked with everything you'd need. It's furnished and decorated in a way that really makes it feel like a home away from home. Will return!

Excellent stay, beautiful cabin.
We fully enjoyed our stay at the Upper Pines Lodge. The cabin is unique, stunning and perfectly located very close to Lincol Peak/Sugarbush. All as advertised and more. We stayed with another family (4 adults, 5 young boys). Plenty of room for all, with a room to spare. The media room was a great gathering spot for the kids to watch movies etc., while the adults enjoyed time around the fire in the comfortable living/family room. We would stay again, and have no reservations recommending Upper Pines Lodge for a stay in the Mad River Valley any time of year.

Celebrating the New Year in The Upper Pines Lodge
10 of us made a plan to gather to celebrate the New Years in Warren, VT. I spent HOURS scouring for just the right home and must admit was giving up hope when I changed my parameters one last time and The Upper Pines Lodge appeared on my screen. With exactly room for 10 and happy to accept my two dogs I knew I had found "the one." 5 months later when we opened the door to Jack's lodge we could not have been more delighted. The house was warm and welcoming and the ideal backdrop for our New Year's Eve festivities. We skied most days and then rushed back to the home to relax, play games, and sip wine by the fire(s). We stashed the four kids on the top floor to sleep and, as city kids, they were over the moon happy to have their own private kid space. And the master suite was pretty much as big as our apartment. This home is NOT your average rental and the owner is uber attentive to the details about his home but also to you as a renter. He was always available for questions and even answered some questions before you had them - mind reader! It is a special place worthy of a special occasion or will make any occasion special just by being there.

Magical Christmas in a Distinctive Cabin in the Woods
From start to finish, a seamless experience. We felt welcomed, informed and very fortunate upon turning the key to the Lodge. It's unique features, cozy and ample living spaces, and proximity to the mountains as well as the delightful Vermont towns of Warren / Waitsfield made our Christmas week the magical one that it was. It was a perfect homebase for our family of four to entertain friends and relatives, all of whom were as charmed by the setting as we were. We'd love to return.

Beautiful Home with Amazing Views!
We spent 4 days at this beautiful home last week. It is truly like no other place we have stayed before!! The design is very unique and breathtaking! And, we were blown away by the awesome views of the changing colors on the mountain. The lighting throughout the house is a bit challenging but if you follow the owners instructions you can master it. It was very cold while we were there and we had a few issues with getting the house warm enough for Florida people!! The thermostats are remotely controlled by the owner so as not to waste electricity. Jack was so easy to contact and work with and tried very hard to please us by increasing the temperature. Lots and lots of room to spread out and give everyone their space yet cozy enough to sit around the fire and talk about our travels during the day. Beds all were wonderful and we slept very well. Cant say enough good things about this place. We truly had a wonderful "fall foliage" experience and staying in this beautiful home was the icing on the cake!!

The thermostats were still in the summer mode for Judy's visit. For future guests we will be sure that guests can run the thermostats themselves. It is important the property management be able to manage the temperature when the Lodge is empty to avoid any unsafe conditions. It is also important that property management be able to warm the Lodge for guests prior to their arrival. Judy was a joy to work with and patient in sorting out the technology glitch.

Perfect house. Perfect view. Perfect location.
We rented Upper Pines Lodge Labor Day weekend for a near bye wedding. 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, lots of living space, huge wrap around deck, cooks kitchen, and a brand new Webber grill. This house is as good as it looks. 5 minutes to Warren, 10 minutes to Waitsfield and 5 minutes to Sugarbush. Lots of great restaurants close by. Jack is a very thorough host and everything is exactly as he says it is. I highly recommend this beautiful lodge for any season; either for a family vacation or a group of friends. You'll want to come back. We do.
