Mycket att fixa men en del bra saker

Sängen är bedrövlig, maten är riktigt usel och servisen lämnar mycket i övrigt att önska. Läget är fantastiskt, älskar utsikten och poolen.

AHG Lion Gate Hotel has a lot of potential. The food was very good, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was also fascinating to see how many languages they spoke, which really added a welcoming and international feel to the place. However, the alcoholic drinks were disappointing—most tasted watered down, like a mix of juice and very little alcohol. For the price of the all-inclusive option, it’s surprising that it ends at 10 p.m. After that, you have to pay for drinks, and paying €7 for a cocktail that isn’t well made feels unreasonable. There are also small details the hotel could easily improve to enhance guests’ experience, such as adding irons and full-length mirrors in the rooms, since the bathroom mirror is quite small. On the positive side, the nightly entertainment was great, and the pool area is lovely, though it closes early at 7 p.m. Watamu Beach is beautiful too, but note that the tide doesn’t come in until the afternoon—mornings are low tide with very little water. Overall, it’s a pleasant stay with friendly staff and nice food, but a few simple improvements could really elevate the experience.

The room was clean and good. However the staff (room service) and the staff at the pool area were very unprofessional, they kept coming at me asking endless questions and what’s worse was when they insisted on entering the room while I was still inside and actually showering , in the name of wanted to spray the room and draw the nets even after I I told them I was inside. I had to lock myself in the bathroom for that

I recently had the pleasure of staying at your property and wanted to share my experience. The hotel was clean and well maintained, and I was especially impressed by the friendliness of the staff. The food was excellent, and my room was spotless and comfortable. The only minor drawback was the distance to the beach, which was a bit farther than expected. However, this did not significantly impact my overall enjoyment of the stay.

Amazing location and very well advertised but very far from as described. The Air conditioning did not work at all which is a must for that town. Troed two different rooms and was the same. The shower drain was blocked and flooded the floor. No towels in the rooms. Very minimalistic services with high end pricing. We decided to check out the same day we checked in despite of a 3-night stay. Still fighting the battle for our refund which we were promised by the manager before we left, Ricardo I believe was his name. I would not recommend this place at all. We spend the next 3 days in a different hotel which was great and nothing like this place

Great resort - very well run

We stayed at the resort for 9 days. I really only have positiv things to say about it. The room was beautifull and spacious, with a nice bathroom. The premises are very greek-style gorgeous. The beach is better than at DIani because you are shelteres from the swell. There is always security at our part of the beach, so you can leave valuebales while swimming. The staff is very friendly and profesional. The italian manager was always around. Very friendly and easy to talk to if you have feedback or special requests. The food at all incusives is usually ok. But here they have raised it from good to great. Because it is Italian run? They also had free shows almost every night. It's so realxing to go 50 meters from your room and have that entertainment. All in all i would not recommend the place if you are looking for lots of partying and young peole getting drunk. But it is perfect if you are looking for a super stay to relax, enjoy the beauty, have great food and a nice base to go on excurtions”

Watamu beach

Place had some age but it was still very charming and had a great view overlooking the water from our front sitting veranda. Breakfast left a little to be desired and are checking experience wasn't the best has it seemed like maybe the front staff was having a bad day. But the room was great overall and I had a nice pool and it was a very close walk to the beach and the restaurants there. We ate quite a few meals at Mapongo Italian restaurant halfway down the beach. The owners from Italy and he's quite inviting. The portions are large just warning you in advance.

This hotel is very cost-conscious. Upon check-in we quickly noticed its limitations compared to other hotels in the same price range. The hotel’s exchange rates were exorbitant, charging 138 KES per USD and 145 KES per EUR, while the market rates were 129.25 KES and 134.16 KES, respectively. The limited breakfast options were disappointing. The breakfast setup lacked side dishes and sufficient cutlery, although the large cups allowed for generous servings, and the fruits were sweet. Unfortunately, some staff were largely unfriendly, particularly towards indigenous Africans. For instance, a staff member at the fruit section barely acknowledged my spouse while warmly greeting a white guest who arrived later. The security personnel lacked proper shelter from the elements. In our room, the bed sheets were rarely changed. Beach access was shared with another hotel, and local guides were aggressive in approaching new visitors at the beach gate. We were not shown around the hotel to locate amenities; we had to navigate on our own to find the restaurant. The curtains in our room did not close properly, compromising privacy. The hotel claims to enhance operational efficiency and guest experiences while boosting revenue, but it seems their priority is profit over guest satisfaction. While the location is appreciated, beach access is not ideal, and overall hospitality and dining experiences were subpar. The facilities looked good but did not meet expectations given the price paid.

The scenery around the property was very beautiful. Overall the property was what I would consider a little tired. Lots of rooms to maintain and insufficient funds to do so. All inclusive was average to be kind food possibly below average (my fiance suffered from food poisoning after eating fish at lunch on the first day). A property that has a lot of potential but needs a lot of money spending on it.

Una bella struttura non nuova ma ben tenuta. Stanza ampia e luminosa con vista mare, pulita e funzionante. A pochi metri c'è la spiaggia con lettini a disposizione. La colazione è discreta e abbiamo cenato un pao di volte li con soddisfazione. Ma consiglio di provare il locale sulla spiaggia appena fuori. Personale cordiale e gentile, bella la piscina, attenti alla sicurezza anche nello spazio riservato in spiaggia.

Overnight in Watamu

We went for a getaway for a child's birthday with some of her friends. Good value for money for all inclusive. Easy access to the beach. Decent buffet. Rooms were spacious. Beds comfortable. I appreciated Anthony the animator stopping by to say hello. Staff was friendly.
