The Space:
Deloraine Tiny Retreat by Tiny Away is located on New Zealand's North Island by the city of Whangarei, overlooking valley vistas and stunning views of Mt Tiger. It’s a 20 minute drive from Parua Bay and close to nearby attractions such as Abbey Caves, Whangārei Falls, Whangarei Heads, and Whangarei Quarry Gardens.
The tiny house is 139 square feet in size, similar to trailer homes where you can rest and enjoy comfortable accommodation with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities.
These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and shower (gas-heated for hot showers) for you to use.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please advise that we have four kids on the property who are staying in separate accommodations. This includes our 3-bedroom guest cottage, which will be rented out to other guests. If you want to book in groups, contact the land host ahead of time to make arrangements.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny home and its surrounding areas, which include the fire pit, playground, saltwater pool, and spa.

Deloraine Tiny Retreat by Tiny Away is a compact tiny home in the bustling city of Whangarei on New Zealand’s North Island. Guests can explore nearby bushwalking trails, beaches, and a variety of attractions.
Local highlights include Whangarei Quarry Gardens, a lush subtropical oasis transformed from a former stone quarry; Abbey Caves, which feature glow worms, stalactites, and the Organ, Middle, and Ivy caves; Whangārei Falls, a 26.3-metre cascade with surrounding walking tracks; Hatea Loop Track, which links Town Basin, Te Matau a Pohe, and Riverside Park; and Whangarei Heads, where volcanic peaks, sandy beaches, and forest trails provide opportunities for hiking, snorkeling, and kayaking.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 5 mins to town and airport.
By public transport: Guests can catch the public bus, taxi or hire a public scooter to ravel directly from our property.
Other Things to Note:
- WiFi has a limited signal in the pool area only
- Pets are not allowed on the property
- No smoking allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- Please note we have cows, horses, and chooks on the property
- Please do not enter animal paddocks without the host's permission
- Guests can swim and use the spa when it's not in use by others.
- Mobile reception is better outside the tiny house. All networks have the same signal strength
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Important note:
- Keep in mind that BBQ grills and outdoor fire pits are not available during a total fire ban
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
