We found the house to be perfectly situated near the Porcupine Mountains and within easy driving distance of Ontonagon (supermarket there and don't pass up the hand tossed pizza at Syl's restaurant) and Bergland (cheapest gas we found on our trip and a unique, tasty take on French Dip and Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches at Antonio's). The interior was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay.
The neighborhood is a bit unusual and provides a real eye to local history. The homes are all nearly identical in design, having been built in the early 1950s, when the White Pine copper mine went into production, to house miners' families. The mine closed down in 1997, although there is talk of opening it up again, and driving in you are surrounded by reminders of boom and bust.
And then you go in and shut the door and your in a cozy nest with your partner or family, resting up so tomorrow you can spend another day out in the woods or on the water or the ski slopes.
