Guests have full, private access to the entire Paddle + Pine home and grounds, including 184 feet of private shoreline and the private pier. You’re welcome to use the lakeside patio, grill area, and all indoor amenities, including the game room with ping pong and Pac-Man arcade.
We provide private kayaks for your enjoyment, and you’re also invited to bring your own boat to launch on Rice Lake’s all-sports waters. Guests may tie boat overnight to our private pier at water`s edge.
Parking is available on-site with space for multiple vehicles, and there is easy access to nearby hiking trails, Kettle Moraine State Forest, and the Ice Age Trail just steps away.

Our rental properties are located in mixed-use neighborhoods that include both short-term guests and year-round residents. We want you to enjoy your stay, but not at the expense of the neighbors, so please be considerate to the neighbors with your noise and activities. You and your party shall abide by all federal, state and local laws and ordinances applicable to the use and occupancy of the Premises, including, without limitation, ordinances regarding odors, noise, trash, parking and pets. Paddle + Pine offers convenient on-site parking for multiple vehicles, making it easy to come and go as you please. The property is best accessed by car, and having your own vehicle is recommended to explore the beautiful surrounding area.
You’re just minutes from downtown Whitewater, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, and entertainment. For outdoor adventures, nearby Kettle Moraine State Forest and the Ice Age Trail offer hiking and biking opportunities right at your doorstep.
If you prefer not to drive, local taxi and rideshare services are available in Whitewater, but availability may vary, so planning ahead is recommended.

In case of emergency: You can reach Portside Vacation Rental (the property management) by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 262-204-7437. After business hours (between 6 PM – 8 AM), there may be a slight delay in response. If you need immediate help or you and/or the house is in danger, please call 9-1-1. The non-emergency number to local law enforcement is 262-473-0555, option 4.
Parking: Please use the 2 parking spots marked in gravel near the shed. Do not park cars on the lawn. Street parking is not allowed and cars are subject to tickets/towing. Empty boat trailer parking in front of owner’s tailer in yard.
Check-In/Check-Out Procedures: Check-in begins at 4 PM. We make every effort to see that the Premises is ready at this time, however, during busy periods, it is possible to have some delays. We encourage arrival before 6 PM (office hours) in order guarantee an in-person check-in. Moreover, it will be easier for you to navigate unfamiliar roads for the first-time during daylight hours. You assume all responsibility for finding the Premises after 6 PM; refunds or discounts will not be given for failure to do so. If you make arrangement for a late arrival and decide to instead arrive earlier, please notify us or your change in plans so that we can have the Premises ready. Check-out is at 10 AM. If you fail to check out by check-out time and our cleaning crew arrives, your credit card on file will be charged $75.00 per hour during which said crew waits. Prior to check out, please ensure that all trash is placed in proper receptacles inside the house. Please ensure all trash that has been place in exterior cans properly fits and the lid closes completely on the bin. Garbage pick-up is on Mondays.
Early Check-In/Lake Check-Out: All requests for early check-in or check-out are subject to availability. There may be a charge assessed for an early check-in or late check-out if it can be accommodated by us and our cleaning crew.
Good Neighbor Policy: Our rental properties are located in mixed-use neighborhoods that include both short-term guests and year-round residents. We want you to enjoy your stay, but not at the expense of the neighbors, so please be considerate to the neighbors with your noise and activities. You and your party shall abide by all federal, state and local laws and ordinances applicable to the use and occupancy of the Premises, including, without limitation, ordinances regarding odors, noise, trash, parking and pets. Your reservation is subject to immediate revocation upon substantiated complaints from neighbors regarding any violation of this Good Neighbor Policy. Additionally, your credit card on file will be charged a $500 fine in the event of any valid complaints that are not immediately remedied by you. Quiet hours are from 9 PM to 9 AM, daily.
Age Requirement: You must be 27 years old or older to rent the Premises.
No Weapons, Violence, Fireworks or Hazardous Materials: No firearms or other dangerous weapon are allowed on the Premises, for any purpose. A “dangerous weapon” means a weapon, device, instrument, material, or substance, animate or inanimate, that is used for, or is readily capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. Fireworks of any type are strictly prohibited in and around the Premises, along with flammable substances or other hazardous materials (other than charcoal or firewood in designated fireplaces, outdoor fire pits and grills). Your credit card on file will be charged a $500 fine in the event of any violation of this policy, and your reservation will be subject to immediate revocation without refund. Any outdoor fires are restricted to the provided firepit only.
Fire Pits/Gas Grills: Please note that the use of the fire pit or gas grill is strictly at your own risk. Please read the following terms and in-home instructions carefully before using the fire pit or gas grill: 1. Only use the fire pit or gas grill in the designated areas. 2. Never leave the fire pit or gas grill unattended while it is in use. 3. Always keep a close eye on any fire, especially if you have children in the area. 4. Do not use the fire pit or gas grill if there are high winds, dry conditions, or a fire ban in effect. 5. Never use lighter fluid, gasoline, or other flammable liquids to start or reignite the fire. 6. Do not dispose of hot ashes, coals, or embers in the trash or compost bin. Instead, use the metal container provided and wait for them to cool down completely before disposing of them. 7. The guest is liable for any damages caused by misuse or negligence while using the fire pit or gas grill. By using the fire pit or gas grill, you agree to the above terms and conditions.
No Pets: Pets are not allowed at the Premises, any sign of a pet onsite associated with your party will be cause for the immediate revocation of your reservation without refund, as will any violation of our Pet Policy if pets are allowed at the Premises. Additional cleaning fees starting at $500 may also be charged to your credit card on file, at our sole discretion.
Children: The Premises and lakefront are not child proof and any children included in your party must be supervised by an adult at all times. Amenities such as furniture with sharp edges, games with small pieces, cleaning products, access to and around the water, and other conditions known and unknown pose safety issues for unsupervised children, the risks of which are assumed by you and your party.
