    The Space:

    Get away from it all and find sweet serenity here at Full Stream Ahead, a riverfront retreat that will spoil the whole family! Boasting unobstructed views of the Tuckasegee River, a hot tub, a furnished wraparound deck, a hammock, picnic table, corn hole, horseshoes, and a firepit, you can easily spend each day at home with unlimited fun right at your fingertips. Start each morning in the fully equipped kitchen and brew a cup of coffee to enjoy out on the deck as you wave to the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad Train which passes right behind the house! When days come to a close, the warmth of the gas fireplace will welcome you with open arms as everyone kicks back on the plush sofa while watching a favorite movie on the mounted TV.



    Bring your fishing gear and enjoy fishing in the hatchery-supported, trout-stocked waters of The Tuck (fishing is closed in March). During the summer months bring your floats and tube down the river in the sunshine. Feel lucky? Just eight miles away is the Harrah's Cherokee Casino open 24/7. Experience the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway, both just 12 miles away if you have a few outdoorsy guests. Want to stay close but venture outside? Check out Uncle Bill's Flea Market on Highway 74E just a few miles from the cottage (between Dillsboro and Cherokee).



    Things to Know Check-in time: 4:00 p.m. Check-out time: 10:00 a.m. All guests shall abide by our good neighbor policy and shall not engage in illegal activity. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. No smoking is permitted anywhere on the premises. The driveway is 1.1 miles long and gravel. 4WD/traction may be required in winter. Highway 74 has traffic in the summer. You may hear road noise.

Short Mountain visit

We came through with our family for a cheer competition, the property was perfect. We enjoyed using the fire pit and the great views.

Great place to stay!!!

This place felt like a home the hot tub was amazing and it was beautiful. The drive up the mountain is a little scary the first time especially in the dark but we got use to it very quickly. Will definitely be back!!

Everything was clean. I think the ac worked a little to well lol. But all in all it was a fantastic stay. Although i wish i could get my blanket back i left there.

Great Cabin

We really enjoyed staying here. We made good use of all the amenities and everything that was listed was there and in working order. The cabin is even nicer than the listing shows, and is the perfect mix of modern comfort and semi seclusion. Highly recommend.

Lovely cabin with many amenities. Location of the property up a steep incline was a little scary and no address marker so went to wrong place but once inside it was pleasant and as advertised. Close to national park which was a necessity

My family frequently visists this area and this was one of the best places we have ever stayed! This well appointed cabin was perfect for our relaxing family getaway. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the home was stocked with everything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and we truly enjoyed the peace and quiet of this mountain retreat! I hope our travels bring us back to Hawks Landing very soon!

We enjoyed the cabin. Getting up was ok because there was no ice or snow. TV was interesting to work.

Wonderful cabin!

We loved everything about this place. Nice area with great views of the forest and the mountains, cool fire pit and viewpoint area, wonderfully furnished house and a great hot tub. The wifi connection was excellent, and the house was spotless when we moved in. Every electrical appliance is up to date and in good condition. Not much to say other than the vacation went great thanks to this house.

Sylva Vacation

We chose this property for its ease in getting to from the main road and nearness to Sylva. In that regard, the property exceeded our expectations. Aside from the information provided by the agency, we found the property to be extremely clean, TV and WiFi excellent, and a kitchen with a surplus of plates, cups, and utinsels. We would certainly rent the property again.

Could use improvement

This is a decent place to stay. It wasn’t as clean as I would’ve expected. The blankets looked like they had maybe left over food on them, there was hair on the shower wall from a previous guest, the counter top had some kind of residue on it. The grill was dirty as well, which I get people using and not cleaning but I feel maybe cleaning staff should be looking that over. The drive up is STEEP so be mindful. All in all it was a great stay, I would’ve just expected a few cleaning tweaks. I would stay here again. Extremely peaceful & a really nice home.

Family Fun

Easy to find, good location, overall cleanliness of property good. Nice living room and kitchen area. The dryer didn’t dry as fast as we wanted. The hot tub was enjoyable and the view scenic but it lost heat during use and fit the three of us well. The road to the driveway was steep and curvy. A challenge for us not from the mountains. Definitely only room for two cars in the driveway.
