Nice and quiet

Lovely cooked breakfast, nice little touch with the tankerville teddy key ring. Didn't try the evening menu as was visiting family but the menu looked extensive and good options for vegetarians.

Decent choice to explore Northumberland

The family room is very spacious, with one double bed and two single bed, in two separate rooms. Beds are comfortable. The shower is a bit dated and water pressure seems unstable from time to time. Decor is traditional but adequate. Location is great for us to explore Northumberland. Choices for hot breakfast. Nice staff.

Massive improvements with food

An overnight stay here for the first time in over a year. Food has greatly improved; good quality and decent portions at very reasonable prices. Rooms haven't changed much but for £50 you really can't fault it.

Worth a visit

Warm, quiet and comfortable room. Clean but in need of decoration - peeling wallpaper and marked walls. Bathroom cramped but adequate for a short stay. Excellent breakfast with tasty local produce. Friendly, helpful staff without being intrusive.

Overnight Stay at Wooler

Very good value for money especially as breakfast was included in the price. Storage heater in the room had to be switched on when I arrived and took quite a long time to heat up. The dining room was also not as warm as I would have liked and it' said pity there was no log fire there as in the bar.

Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff

First time in Northumberland and what a fantastic county. Lots to do and see but mainly in the months between April and October. Many places were shut but still managed to fit loads in. Wil definately return.

Wonderful character!

We loved our stay at the Tankerville Arms. It had such history and character. The best part was eating in the pub area. They served one of the best meals we have ever eaten in all of England. We also were allowed to bring our dog with us which was a great convenience. I highly recommend this hotel to families traveling in the area.

Last minute night away with wife and new car!

Wanted just one night in Northumberland, as we had purchased a new car and were driving around this beautiful area for the weekend. Found this venue a week earlier on last minute.com. Excellent value for money, staff extremely friendly, exceptional breakfast, wonderful meal in the bar/restaurant, very comfy and well equipped room, all round it was perfect.

Tanked up at Tankerville

Great staff, wonderful experience, friendly, food fantastic, rooms big but a bit faded but this added to the experience - clean and tidy which is most important.

Good rooms but poor breakfast. A shame to save a quid they are so shortsighted. Staff seem a little downbeat too.

good location and service

Good location ,comfortable quiet room, and friendly staff . Excellent food , and plenty of parking space.General cleanliness quite good ,but some corners could do with a little more attention ! There were broken catches on my window ,but I did get it open . Some outside decoration is a little tired,but the overall impression is good and I would certainly go back again

Excellent food,

The hotel is tied in places and could do with some loving care. Staff pleasant and attentive. Recommended for food alone. More attention to cleaning in bathroom required.

The Tankerville Arms, Wooler, Northunberland.

Very pleasant stay. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Location was fairly central for the county with short drives to the coast and main attractions of Northumberland.

Tankerville Arms - an OK pub-hotel

We stayed for two nights at the Tankerville Arms & it was OK - but that is all. The hotel itself is right by the side of a main road, so noisy when the early-morning lorries start to rumble by. There is a large car park which is at the rear of the hotel & there is access direct into the hotel from there. The rooms we had were perfectly comfortable and clean, but a bit 1970s with frilly lampshades etc. Teas & coffee in the room & lots of hot water in the bathroom please decent quality soap, shampoo etc. The bar is decent & has a good range of beers including local hand-pumped beer, but it is a bit too small & gets crowded. The restaurant is comfortable & has a decent menu - my steak was not cheap but it was very good quality (locally sourced ingedients were especially good). My only real criticism is that on both the Friday & Saturday nights there were large-ish functions at the hotel & so, as hotel guests, we were made to feel distinctly second-class citizens! We were told that we couldn't eat before X time and that service would take time etc. Breakfast each morning was excellent - good choices, excellent & filling Full English Breakfast.
