Fantastic
Home from home with fantastic grounds lots to do for all ages. Swimming pool was amazing the whole family spent hours outside and the teenagers weren't on their phones. We will be back next year hopefully

Perfect getaway

A Gem of a Home!
Homely, spacious, lots to do (even in the rain and without the use of pool). Has a lovely feel. Fully realise pets are allowed and a couple of us got 'itchy' in the living room, but that's our fault as we knew the house accepted pets. We've stayed in LOADS of places Isle of Wight and this is right up there with the best!

Another amazing stay at this fabulous house
We were delighted to be able to stay at Byecross for Christmas having stayed a couple of years ago and loved it. The house was nicely (Christmas) decorated for us which was a lovely touch. We were a large group so it was great having lots of space to spread out over the hectic few days we had! Christmas dinner wasn’t an issue with the Aga once we got used to it. The kids all loved the activities including lots of tennis and particularly table tennis competitions. Next time we would love to come in the summer so we can finally make use of the pool! Thanks again for fab break.

Very happy break between Christmas and new year.
We were 3 families with bunch of teenagers.....totalling 11 - so needed lots of space and different options. The house was brilliant for us, all as described, lots of space and all very clean and comfortable. It was v wet and v windy during our stay so couldn't enjoy the grounds quite as much as we hoped but did make use of the games shed and tennis court, and wellingtons!!! walking the coats path etc. Spotted a red squirrel too! The hosts are very attentive and very generous in the way they shared their house. A very positive experience and would definitely recommend and hope to return! (Thankyou so much!)

A wonderful family stay
Such a wonderful relaxed house. And such kind owners. Vast grounds which the grandchildren absolutely loved, including a tennis court! Masses of games which the owners generously shared - a real home from home. Everything about the house was perfect for a family stay. There is a wonderful ‘secret’ and very natural beach a few minutes walk away through woods which really caught the children’s imagination! Yarmouth is lovely - tiny but with lots of character. All the family fell in love with the house and want to return.

Family get together
The perfect place for 3 generations of family to meet up. There was something for everyone to keep us entertained. We just wish we had longer. Hopefully we will visit again when the sun is shining :)

What a find - magical!
We enjoyed an incredible last minute stay - wish we could’ve stayed for longer. The house is a wonderful family home, thank you to Barry & Elizabeth for sharing it with us. The tennis court, pool, trampoline and playground were well used, as was the board game cupboard and lovely bookshelves!! Beautiful views of the garden from all of the windows, incredible apple and pear trees too. The path to the beach was lovely & we didn’t have to share the beach with anyone, absolutely heaven! We hope to be back one day soon, it was a family holiday of dreams - thank you.

A complete joy!
A beautiful home and gardens that were so welcoming. The location was stunning and the facilities were above and beyond our expectations. Another fab stay at Byecross
We loved our stay at Byecross. Such a stunning property and grounds. We spent loads of time in the pool, in the play area and mooching around. Had day trips to vent or (ate lunch at the met which was great) and Compton bay beach. Will be back!!

Fabulous house
This house is huge! Loads of room for 6 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs. The gardens are beautiful with lovely views. Would love to stay here again, maybe in the summer when we could use the pool too. We had a wonderful time!

A wonderful family Christmas
Thank you so much for a beautiful stay. We enjoyed everything about the property! The inside space was perfect for hosting a big family Christmas. And the outside space was perfectly secured for the dogs to enjoy some freedom. The location is great too for a walk into Yarmouth for a Christmas day trip to the pub. The information provided before arriving made every super smooth, and the house was beyond expectations on arrival. We look forward to coming back again!

Wonderful family getaway
We visited for the second year in a row with our large extended family, and can genuinely say that it’s the best house we’ve rented. The grounds are amazing, with an abundance of space, a lovely warm pool, tennis court, woods to play in etc etc. The helpfulness and generosity of the hosts also really makes the stay special. We will definitely be back.

EXCEPTIONAL
We couldn’t be happier with our mini break at Byecross. Everything was as described, if not better. The house is homely and extremely well equipped. Outside, the grounds and pool are amazing. So much to do, tennis , table tennis, trampoline, play equipment & the icing on the cake is the fantastic swimming pool with a slide, which the children were in 4 times a day! Huge beautiful grounds with mown pathways through wild grasses. Eating under a pergola wrapped with grape vines with room to seat 10 easily. This really is a special place to stay. Elizabeth & Barry called on our day of arrival with one or two pointers which we found really useful, especially about making toast on the aga. Thank you for allowing us to use your home and we will be back.

Wonderful retreat, stunning gardens
We enjoyed four fabulous days at this lovely property, enjoying the stunning gardens and local nature. The hosts were unerringly prompt in communication, friendly and helpful. The children (aged 8-13) all had a blast playing, jumping on the trampoline and swimming in the warm, relaxing pool. We'd love to stay there again and are so grateful to have had this special place to explore the amazing Isle of Wight together.

The outside facilities and the sheer size of the well kept gardens were second to none. The house itself was ideally located with plenty of privacy. We appreciate that this was a family home to which we were given complete access, and on a more detailed basis felt that additional mirrors and wardrobe space would have been useful as would the provision of a toaster and microwave and a bit of general tlc. Nonetheless the property afforded us a wonderful family holiday.

Perfect place for a family celebration
The house is everything you expect and more. I lost count of how many times we said how absolutely wonderful it was. We played tennis, rode bikes, walked in mud, played games - I even played piano for the first time in 30 years! If you are thinking of booking this house, don’t hesitate, book it while you can. Family Xmas get together
Beautiful property in a fantastic location that was perfect for 12 of us to spend Christmas together along with our 2 dogs. Initial communication was excellent. The property is obviously utilised as a second home as when we arrived it instantly felt like home. The owner phoned on our first night to welcome us and couldn’t have been more welcoming. We would love to come back in the summer and make more use of the outside, the pool and the bikes etc. All the kids said ‘Best Christmas Ever!’

Wonderful property with things to do for all ages
We had a wonderful time at Byecross, such a fab property! We particularly liked the table tennis and tennis, films on the projector, walking the grounds and chilling in the sizeable kitchen. The area is great for exploring and only minutes from the beach which certainly doesn't feel like you're in the UK! Yarmouth was a great little town to visit and was fun to have birthday lunch at On The Rocks, which is highly recommended!

Truly a home away from home
We were looking for a quiet escape for a family reunion, and we couldn’t have been happier with this find! The house is large and spacious, yet warm and inviting, clean and very well equipped. It sits on extensive grounds that are very private, beautifully maintained and a delight for kids and adults alike - and absolute heaven for our dog. We took full advantage of the tennis court and pool, even at the end of October, plus daily walks to the nearby beach, table tennis tournaments, movie nights with the projector, sing-alongs by the piano, endless trampoline fun, the list goes on… Barry and Elizabeth made us feel so genuinely welcome, and it truly felt like home from the moment we stepped in. Thank you!

Fantastic mini break!
We were all blown away by how beautiful the house was and all of the land! So much to do, we were never bored. Felt nice to actually relax also in such a peaceful environment, and so close to the beach. The house was a little dusty in places but nothing to complain about, and a lot of googling on the Aga as no one had used on before, but would recommend this house to everyone, and would love to return one day.

Just wonderful!
The property is a gem. We enjoyed a family weekend with three generations and two dogs. The house is spacious and charming and grounds are just magical, including the lovely pool and outdoor dining areas. The location close to Yarmouth is very convenient as is the proximity to the sea, secluded shingle beach and the coastal path. The owners were very easy to communicate with for arrival and departure details etc. and more than helpful. There really is nothing to fault the property, we can't wait for another visit.

A Staycation location better than International derivatives!
A spacious period house with tremendous charm, bright and airy rooms, very extensive grounds and an exhaustive full list of endless activities for all weather options. Barry and Elizabeth are gracious hosts, very helpful and generous with their time and advice if requested. So many special memories from fruit picking mulberries to watching movies on a giant screen to playing doubles tennis after decades! The pool was deliciously bath warm and consumed many restful hours. If only we had more time to perfect our Kayaking and paddle boarding skills or even the table tennis in a spacious barn. Wish we could have stayed an extra week! First time the dogs were truly able to be free in the acres of space surrounding the house. Desperately want to return! Thank you Barry & Elizabeth

The perfect family holiday house
An absolutely perfect house in the perfect location. The lovely and very generous hosts enabled us to feel completely at home letting us use their bikes and paddle boards. The pool and tennis court were used daily and every one loved the house and the Isle of Wight. This was our first big staycation and it was every bit as enjoyable as Tuscany, the Ardeche and the Alps!

Much loved country family home.
A perfect venue for a large family gathering. A place to relax and enjoy if you are looking for somewhere off the beaten track (a little difficult to spot the unmade lane when travelling from the East). The house has everything that is required to enjoy your stay including a baby grand piano. The communication from Elizabeth (the host), was the best we have ever experienced, very quick replies and a phone call to the house to check if everything was alright on the morning after our arrival. When you rent this property you must understand that you are renting a family home that contains many items of the hosts, (clothes, full pantry etc.). Therefore you need to be mindful and respectful of all the extras that perhaps would not normally be available. The property itself is a warm, comfortable, well loved & lived household. It has ample space, and amenities,. It has an AGA stove, so experience of an AGA is an advantage or an adventure, no microwave or electric kettle, which suited us as we wanted to cook at home. The property is less than 10 minutes from the coastal path, which is an enjoyable walk, through the forest out to Yarmouth etc. So if you want to escape the hustle & bustle of the island, we thoroughly recommend Byecross House.

Spacious accommodation in acres of grounds, Byecross has everything for a family holiday. You can play in the pool, walk to the coastal path, play tennis.....and the yachting harbour of Yarmouth is just up the road. Toys and games inside, even an office! We had a great time.

An oasis on the island
We have a large family and wanted somewhere that could accommodate us all, with plenty of room, that allowed pets. Barry and Elizabeth's property fitted the bill entirely. There are five large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a further toilet on the upstairs floor. With a study, kitchen-diner, living room, utility room, mud room and a further two toilets on the downstairs floor. The grounds are extensive with plenty to do, including outdoor swimming pool with slide, tennis courts, play area and gardens. The property is very homely with everything you could need for a short break. It is located on a private road with access to the nearby pebble beach, where we went paddle boarding. Overall we had a brilliant time and would like to thank Elizabeth and Barry for letting us stay at their beautiful property.

Amazing place!
Ideal -- everything there on-site to keep the whole family relaxed, happy and entertained, even on the inevitable rainy day. Heated pool (seasonal), tennis court, play equipment, acres of space outside; table tennis in the shed, games / jigsaws indoors; projector for films / TV, with a screen to set up outdoors weather permitting! Aga and spacious kitchen / dining areas (in and out) for big family meals. Home office set-up to plug into if you really have to. But if you do manage to pull yourself away from the place, great location -- just a five minute stroll to the coast, bikes in the shed for the whole family if you want to explore the island's cycle routes, and easy access to Yarmouth (two mins from ferry port), The Needles, Blackgang Chine and all of the other delights on the island! Highly recommended.
