FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT INSPIRED HOME IN YOSEMITE NAT'L PARK-CENTRAL A / C-3 DECKS!

The Summit House ligger i Yosemite nationalpark och 2 korta kvarter gångavstånd från floden Merced. Det är ett berghus med flera våningar med central luftkonditionering och värme och konstruerad med västra röd cederträ inifrån och ut. Omgivet av 3 avskilda däck erbjuder vårt hem 4 sovrum, 3 badrum, ett rymligt vardagsrum med två våningar med balkar, separat matsal, stort kök, loft och spelrum med ett biljardbord. Övervåningen sovrummen har vardera en king size-säng, medan de nedre sovrummen har två enkelsängar. Dessutom har både loftet och spelrummet bäddsoffor i queen-size. Huset rymmer upp till 13 personer. Det finns 2 massiva eldstadar i floden, ett tvättstuga med tvättmaskin och torktumlare, disk-TV och wifi. Alla köksredskap, diskar, handdukar och lakan tillhandahålls. Både en propan- och kolgrill finns också för det stora bakre däck som ligger bredvid skogen där du kan njuta av rådjur, tvättbjörn, ekorrar och fåglar när de parade vid vårt hem.
Summit House ligger i den charmiga staden Wawona, 6 miles inne i Yosemite National Park. Big Trees Hotel (formellt Wawona Hotel) ligger bara fem minuter bort. Här kan du spela golf och tennis, åka i en vagn och rida på hästar i den närliggande stallen. Badger Pass Ski Lodge och Glacier Point ligger 35 och 50 minuter bort. Yosemite Valley, där Yosemite, Bridalveil och Vernal / Nevada Falls och El Capitan ligger 35 minuter från huset. Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias ligger bara 15 minuter bort. Vi är en kort promenad från floden Merced där du kan fiska och simma på sommaren, samt sola på de glänsande platta klipporna i den rusande floden. Du kan också njuta av en vandring till Chilnualna Falls och den svängande bron eller promenera Meadow Loop Trail. Det finns fina middagar på det historiska Big Trees Hotel, samt ridning, en 9-håls golfbana, Ranger går och pratar och ett fascinerande gammalt Pioneer Center.
På vintern kan du njuta av utförsåkning, längdskidor, pulka och snöskor på närliggande Badger Pass samt skridskoåkning under Half Dome i dalen.
I Yosemite Valley finns aktiviteter året runt, inklusive många vandringar, vattenfall som tittar, forsränning, cykling, museer eller bara njuta av de vackra utsikten från det fantastiska Majestic (formellt Ahwanee) Hotel. Yosemite är vacker under alla säsonger och varje säsong har sina egna speciella nöjen!

Great location, amazing potential, but it was tough entering a house that was 87 degrees upon arrival. The house policy is to turn off the AC upon departure. Having to wait hours for the home to cool is rough after a long trip. The home also has an odd and unpleasant smell, the coffee maker was filled with mold, there was a mouse that required us to keep our food in the refrigerator and oven, and the second bedroom bed is very hard. The owner was pleasant, but didn’t make any effort to resolve issues other than attempting to tell us how to do it. I feel like a house at these price points should be rodent free and climate controlled upon arrival.

Great for family gathering

Property was in a great location for hiking several trails and historical significance and a short drive to access Yosemite National Park. The two fireplaces were very nice to have. Plenty of available sleeping, gathering areas and large dining area. Only downsides were no response from property manager about the lack of heat in primary bedroom/bath and a refrigerator that would not keep food cold or frozen.

Nice place, needs some maintenance

We loved the location and the home had a nice feel to it. We did have some problems with the AC not working for the entirety of the trip and it was over 90 degrees outside. The owner failed to get the unit fixed while we were there which was terribly disappointing since we figured out it was most likely the capacitor the first night. (this is an easy fix for anyone that is a little handy). Beyond this there were just a few small electrical issues with outlets and light. It was a nice home and had a good outdoor grill.

A Precious Gem

Wonderful home for a large group or family!

We stayed in this special home in Yosemite with our family of 7 adults and 2 children. We had plenty of room for a 5 day stay. The kitchen was very well equipped. There were extra towels, pillows and blankets if wanted or needed. It was a bonus to park inside the garage. The AC, not readily available at all lodging in the park, was very much needed with the high temperatures during our stay in July. It is a drive, beautiful one at that, to get to the valley loop but we mapped out our daily excursions with various stops each day to break up the drive for the younger members of the family. If you are going to Yosemite please stay inside the park gates as this house is located. The time in line waiting to come through the gates would have been unfathomable during the height of the summer season. The communications with Dan and Chris were exceptional and much appreciated.

Family Vacation at Summit House

Our party included two grandparents and two families of 2 spouses and 2 teenagers for a total of 10. We enjoyed our stay at Summit House. Because we had a reservation and arrived relatively late in the day, we had no problem getting into the Yosemite National Park. We spent one day in Yosemite Valley, one day in Mariposa Grove and took a day trip to Glacier Point. An unexpected bonus was swimming in the South Fork of the Merced River at two spots relatively near Summit House. The house was spacious and interesting from an architectural standpoint. The kids (young and old) enjoyed games of bumper pool!

Great house for a group in Yosemite-Wawona

We had a great stay at the Summit House. Group of 12 adults and teens. House was well appointed, comfortable and location was amazing. Pine Tree market 1/4 mile away was convenient for some groceries and there is a fun swimming hole with a water down only 1/2 mile away. Highly recommend and we would stay again.

Beautiful!

Our group of 8 adults totally enjoyed this house! We were there for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The park was crowded so it was a big comfort to be inside the gates and not needing a reservation. There are 4 very comfortable bedrooms, a great kitchen, and several wonderful gathering areas (inside and outside). The location is somewhat remote so do yourself a favor and arrive during daylight!

Generous and well equipped home inside of YNP

We stayed this home for eight nights in November 2023. It has the advantage of being located inside of the parks south entrance gate. It is close to Mariposa Grove and a couple of trails in the Wanona area. There is a small market in the neighborhood which is quite handy. It is approximately 40 minute driving from this house into the Yosemite Valley. The house is large and well-equipped for all indoor activities, including a downstairs game area with bumper pool. The kitchen is very well equipped, although the pots and pans are worn out. Two bedrooms are on the main floor with the kitchen and living room and two more bedrooms are down below on the ground floor. Being able to park in the garage is a plus. There were some minor issues with heating as the batteries in the thermostats were depleted, but we were able to self correct these. The host was responsive to all inquiries. Be advised that the entire house is carpeted, and those are sensitive to dust may be affected by this.

Wonderful Wawona Dwelling

We really enjoyed our stay at the Summit House. We enjoyed that it was inside the park gates, which helped expedite getting around inside the park during our visit. The house accommodated our group well, and we enjoyed being able to cook and eat at the house and have a special gathering as we were at Yosemite for a memorial for a loved one. This house was in good shape and had everything we needed. I would recommend this to other folks considering a stay inside Yosemite Park.

Amazing Family Home in Yosemite

Our family has stayed at the Summit House many times, and we absolutely love it. The multiple levels are perfect for a large family or two families to stay together but have enough space. One consideration- the driveway leading up to the property is steep and there are many stairs, so older family members may have a harder time. The kitchen has everything needed (including a new crock pot) and two large fridge/freezers. The only thing I’d change are the mattresses- they are very firm and we are used to a softer mattress. We loved our stay at the Summit House and hope to come back soon!
