Martinez Casita - Adobe on the Plaza

Under vÄren 2010 öppnade Martinez Casita Àven för kortsiktiga hyror. BekvÀmt belÀget intill Barranca Plaza Casita, en favorit hos mÄnga Ghost Ranch besökare för de senaste 7 Ären!

Barranca Àr en gammal latinamerikansk by strax vÀster om Abiquiu över Chama River. PÄ sin lilla plaza finns det nÄgra lerhus, varav en Àr detta mycket charmiga ett sovrum, ett badrum fritidshus.
De tjocka adobe vÀggar har inbyggd banco Àr i vardagsrummet. Under hela casita Àr kaklade och trÀgolv. En vedspis ger dig stor komfort pÄ vintern. De tjocka vÀggar hÄller huset svalt pÄ sommaren.

En stor trÀdgÄrd med frukttrÀd omger Casita.

I Barranca hittar du en livlig bÀck som kommer frÄn bergen. Följ vÄren matad bÀcken uppströms och ange Santa Fe National Forest med sensationell utsikt över Abiquiu dalen och de omgivande bergs landar. Badlands med Goblin liknande formationer finns i nÀrheten. Chama River, lÀngs vilken Àr boskapsrancher, Àr bra för fiske.

Den Casita ligger bara minuter frÄn Georgia O'Keeffe hem och en kort bilresa frÄn Piedra Lumbre bassÀngen. Ghost Ranch Àr vÀrt mÄnga besök och glöm inte att köra ut i Chama River Canyon att vandra eller besöka benediktinerklostret. Chama River Wilderness Àr ett paradis för upptÀcktsresande.

Den Acequia, den traditionella Hispanic gemenskapen vattensystem, hÄlls fortfarande i högt anseende i Barranca. Den Mayordomo avgör vem bevattnar nÀr. Casita trÀdgÄrd kan bevattnas pÄ lördagar.

Stora dagsutflykter kan göras till Ojo Caliente Mineral Hot Springs, Taos en Taos Pueblo, Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Chama (med Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad), Bandelier nationalmonument, Chaco Culture National Historic Park , Valle Grande, etc. etc.

This was our third trip to Abiquiu and the cozy and comfortable Martinez Casita. We love the area, which provides great hiking and serenity, and the Martinez family members are gracious hosts.

I really enjoyed my stay in this lovely little casita, though little isn't really accurate! It was super roomy with separate living areas, outside pergola BBQ area and views of the mountains. The casita was convenient for exploring the area without the bother of road noise and I enjoyed the bucolic nature of the location. I was greeted by Nimfa, who was super friendly and kind, and gave me some great suggestions. I would recommend this for anyone who likes to get off the beaten track!

Northern New Mexico at its best! Our host, Floyd Martinez, very friendly and hospitable, generous and thoughtful in every way. This casita is beautifully situated on high ground affording excellent views and easy access to historic Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch, Santa Fe and many other local destinations. Floyd works very hard to sustain and maintain the property and its gardens; the roses are spectacular! The adobe walled compound was excellent for our small dog and for us as well. There are several excellent outdoor seating areas. The casita felt like home, is well appointed for every need with beautiful local artists' works to enjoy. The overall ambiance is genuine, authentic, warm and comfortable. We enjoyed the AC in warm weather and there are space heaters and a wood stove for colder weather. TV is served by Firestick and the WiFi allowed us to use our Dish Anywhere app. We are already planning our next visit! Thank you floyd and family!

This place was great! It's much larger than it looks on VRBO site. Floyd is great, super helpful. I have two minor suggestions: 1. put some shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. 2. There's a lot of light pollution. Abiquiu is a great place for dark sky. Maybe put a shield of some sort on the big street light? Great place!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Martinez casita and our time exploring the area. The host, Floyd, is very helpful and attentive. We had a small mechanical problem that was fixed promptly and completely satisfactorily. Floyd is very helpful with local information. The casita is spacious and full of character. Very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. We extended our stay and plan to return. An experience deserving of a top rating.

Warm, fuzzy and comfy. We had an unlimited supply of firewood!! Did not truly appreciate this until we went to our next location which did not supply firewood nor did the host tell us we needed to supply firewood. We were freezing the first night because it was too late to find firewood. Communication was great. Floyd is a fantastic host.

We enjoyed our second stay here and will certainly be returning again. Floyd is a wonderful host and the adorable adobe has everything it claims and more. The view is spectacular, the drive up to the casita is beautiful with the fall colors ( beautiful golden leaves of the cottonwoods down by the river), and the casita itself is so clean and well stocked. We love the serenity that the place offers and yet, it is only a couple of miles from Bode’s store and the Abiquiu Inn where they serve the most delicious food. Definitely a five star stay!
