Front lawned area with garden furniture. Private parking for 3 cars. No smoking. Please note: The front garden is not attached to the property.. Dinmont Cottage is a perfect place to stay with family or friends on a quiet spot in Shilbottle, located in between Alnwick and Alnmouth less than 4 miles away. With a lovely homely ambience throughout, the open plan kitchen/dining area is perfect for sharing stories and planning your trips in this social space.

Shilbottle has walks from the village with a great pub and award winning café around 300 yards. There is a good convenience store, pharmacy and a highly acclaimed Indian restaurant/takeaway only a short walk. Alnwick only a few minutes’ drive and is home to the famous castle used in Harry Potter where you can book broomstick lessons, and also home to the magnificent Water gardens where you can book a table at the fabulous Tree House restaurant, the largest in Europe.

Explore the cobbled streets with independent shops and bijoux cafés with something for all ages. Golf lovers will delight in the two courses close by; one being a fine 9-hole course adjacent to the beach and the other being a challenging 18-hole course at Foxton, enjoying panoramic views. Amble and Warkworth are nearby; Amble has a popular Sunday morning market where you can mix with the locals then browse in the little shopping pods on the harbour, perhaps have fish and chips or visit one of the little eating places on the harbour, or enjoy a boat trip round Coquet Island bird sanctuary. Warkworth Castle sits at the top of the hill, a pretty picture postcard village with nice cafés, friendly pubs and riverside walk.

Dinmont Cottage is an excellent choice for those seeking a homely base, allowing easy access to explore the beautiful Heritage coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east, and the wild and captivating expanses of the heather-capped Cheviot Hills to the west. Bus routes to Alnwick and Newcastle are available nearby and the Sustrans Cycle Route is easily joined from the property. For a different type of day out, why not book a day return ticket from Alnmouth Station to Edinburgh, Durham, or York for a full day out exploring? Beach 5 miles. Pub 1 mile.

Overall a really good holiday, close to local areas of interest.

Overall a really good holiday, close to local areas of interest. The cottage was lovely but we were given the wrong key code which wasn’t a good start to the holiday but we were very happy with the cottage when we finally got in, it had everything you needed and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise. Only slight quibble would be the so called garden at the back which could be made really nice but we just used the courtyard which was fine for us. We would definitely go back and would recommend the cottage to others.

Fantastic

Dinmont Cottage was a beautiful,spacious and well equipped cottage set in a lovely village with an amazing Indian restaurant, great little take out, a Running fox with pub next door and a convenience store. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous and there is alot to do nearby.Woukd definitely stay there again

One of the best cottages I have ever stayed in.

One of the best cottages I have ever stayed in. Clean, comfortable, loads of space, and a really good standard of decor, with a nice grassed area and picnic bench near the car parking area.Now the downside. The stone patio area in front of the cottage was covered in weeds, and there were two seats with a joined on table. The front gate and seats needed painting as paint was peeling off. The rear yard was even worse. Apart from a planter with seats the rest was horrible. There was one tiny picnic table that should have been in the skip as the slats had broken and and in a disgusting state. There were some sun loungers stacked up against a wall, but looked liked they had been left outside all winter with green algae on.I cannot fathom why the owners had obviously gone to a lot of expense inside and not carried it on outside. E.g. we saw a mock rattan table and chairs in Alnwick.for under £100.
