“Regrettably our room number 6. Did not smell nice. It had the smell of old wet trainers. We did mention it and a room diffuser was turned on. Some of the fixtures and fitting were falling apart. The shower was head was not appropriate for the size of the shower causing flooding. The staff were lovely and theroom was clean.”

“Clean & comfortable, great food & staff. Highly recommended 👍”

“A charming pub in a great location, but can get crowded. Comfortable room, modern bathroom, everything clean and tidy. Coffee-making facilities in the room a plus. Good food in the restaurant (including breakfast) and a good selection of beers in the bar. Service is directed mainly towards bar customer, so it can be difficult to get attention as a hotel guest. Parking in a dedicated carpark just over the road.”

“The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. “A fantastic stay! Nice rooms, very good breakfast and dinner. Nice and friendly staff.”

We particularly liked the 'green' drinks scheme where you could get a drink per room occupant instead of a daily room clean. The cooked breakfast options were excellent and the lunch / evening menu offered enough to make it easy to stay in if we didn't have the energy to go out. The summer menu was introduced mid-stay and that...

“Staff very welcoming. Food really nice and very filling. Perfect stay for us. Thankyou”

“Very pleasant stay.”

“Lovely room. We booked the dog friendly room and we had dog bowls, and a doggy treat pack including toy, treats & poo bags. Nice little touch! Great food as always, lovely full English breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.”

“A lovely old pub. You get the athmosphere as soon as you step in. ”

“Fantastic service and feelgood place:-) ”

“Idyllic village pub with beautiful scenic views. Would highly recommend this place as there is plenty of walking trails on your doorstep. This place has a lovely traditional pub layout, fantastic food with plenty of choice, all staff super friendly and the rooms were on point. WiFi great throughout the property. Our room rate included breakfast, a lovely adequate selection which included self help items and order of the menu for hot. We will be definitely staying again when visiting the northern...
