“The location is a perfect ten, but the staff was far from good. First of all, it took us 1.5 hours to check in, and we didn’t sense any effort to speed up the process. There was a complete lack of willingness from the staff to make our experience enjoyable. Our room was also dirty, which unfortunately aligned with the poor check-in experience. The Tan Hill has the potential to be amazing. It has everything going for it—except the staff, who failed to make our stay pleasant.”

“Staff very welcoming. Food really nice and very filling. Perfect stay for us. Thankyou”

“A fantastic stay! Nice rooms, very good breakfast and dinner. Nice and friendly staff.”

“The Inn itself is lovely and great location, however there was no heating or hot water, and we checked in after getting caught in the rain on a long walk on a cold day so were really looking forward to a hot shower! We particularly liked the 'green' drinks scheme where you could get a drink per room occupant instead of a daily room clean. The cooked breakfast options were excellent and the lunch / evening menu offered enough to make it easy to stay in if we didn't have the energy to go out. The summer menu was introduced mid-stay and that...

“The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. I think Expedia have been misleading not detailing the facts about that particular...
