Rustic elegance meets laid-back coastal charm at Gordy’s Place, a one-of-a-kind Pacific Northwest waterfront retreat on Bainbridge Island. This peaceful sanctuary feels worlds away, while still close enough for an easy weekend escape or a restorative extended stay. The property, lovingly restored by our dad, Gordy, includes a fishing cottage, boat house, and detached studio. The property’s heart is a thoughtfully reimagined 1930s fishing cottage. Gordy was a local builder, designer, and lifelong sailor and like a well-crafted boat, the home is efficient, beautiful, and deeply connected to its natural surroundings. Thoughtful use of reclaimed materials, neutral tones, and expansive windows brings the outdoors in and creates an atmosphere of calm from the moment you arrive.

The Cottage

The Cottage serves as the gathering hub, featuring an open-concept kitchen fully equipped for cooking and entertaining, a moody dining area perfect for long dinners, and a serene living room that seems to float above Hidden Cove. Watch seals, river otters, and sea birds glide by as you cook or relax. French doors lead from the gracious bedroom to a tranquil Japanese garden. A wraparound deck off the living room offers sweeping waterfront views. Additional amenities include a washer/dryer, a work station, and a wet bar—ideal for longer stays or working remotely in comfort.

The Net Shed

A lavender-lined boardwalk leads to the Net Shed, a converted overwater boathouse that lives like an intimate bungalow. Inside, you’ll find a cozy living/sleeping space with a comfortable queen sleeper sofa, two built-in bunks, and a full bathroom. The Net Shed is the perfect spot to curl up for a movie, gather for a sporting event, or watch the tide roll in. Open the boathouse garage door to the dock for seamless indoor-outdoor living, or close the doors, light the stove, and delight in a cozy PNW experience rare to find.

The Upstairs Suite

Perched above the garage, the Upstairs Suite feels like a modern treehouse—bright, airy, and surrounded by lush greenery. This private studio includes a queen bed, spacious bathroom with shower, bistro table, and reading nook with peaceful views from every window. It’s an ideal retreat for two seeking privacy while still being steps away from the main gathering spaces.

Amenities

Each space at Gordy’s Place is designed for comfort, creativity, and connection. Guests will enjoy Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, and Bluetooth stereos throughout the property, along with a coffee and tea station in each space. The Cottage kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, utensils, spices, oils, and cooking essentials, while both the Net Shed and Upstairs Suite include small refrigerators for added convenience. A washer and dryer are available in the main cottage, making extended stays easy and comfortable. You’ll also find a game cupboard stocked with cards, puzzles, and classic board games—perfect for cozy evenings or rainy Northwest afternoons.

The magic of Gordy’s Place is best experienced outdoors. A lovely covered porch and wrap around deck allow for seamless indoor/outdoor living. Along the water’s edge, a fire pit encircled by Adirondack chairs invites you to gather under the stars and listen to the gentle lap of the tide. The yard, shaded by graceful Japanese Maples, offers a perfect setting for yard games, lounging, or an afternoon picnic. Extending from the Net Shed, the dock features a large outdoor dining table, ideal for sharing meals over the water as the sun sets behind the evergreens. Step from the Cottage bedroom into a private Japanese garden, a serene space for morning coffee or quiet reflection. The peaceful setting and ever-changing light over Hidden Cove make it a perfect retreat for writers, musicians, and artists seeking inspiration. Guests are welcome to enjoy Gordy’s baby grand piano—a centerpiece of the Main House living room—and an acoustic guitar available for use. With its tranquil atmosphere, comfortable workspaces, and quiet beauty, the property lends itself beautifully to writing retreats, songwriting sessions, or creative residencies. Whether composing by the window, journaling in the garden, or playing music as the tide drifts in, this is a place where ideas can breathe and imagination flows freely.

Fun on the Water

Hidden Cove and Port Madison are best experienced from the water—and guests are encouraged to explore using the sea kayaks and canoe provided. Guests arriving by boat can tie up to the private mooring buoy associated with the property, and those bringing their own stand-up paddle boards will find easy water access right from the dock. Whether you’re an early-morning paddler or prefer sunset excursions, the cove offers calm waters and endless serenity.

The property is comprised of three separate structures and guests are welcome to use all of them aside from the garage, which we use for storage, tools, etc. The main house has a queen bed and full bath, the above garage studio has a queen bed and full bath, and the net shed has a pull out queen bed and two twin beds.
