The Boathouse lies just minutes from the waterside and an excellent variety of Appledore’s eateries, coffee shops and tea rooms. The quaint village streets are home to a range of cafés, pubs, boutique shops and galleries - great for simply wandering around and taking in the surroundings. Regular events held include the annual literary festival and gig racing. Live music events are held in the local pubs and in the social club next door to The Boathouse with a variety of events for all to enjoy.

Instow, across the water, can be reached by car or ferry and has a sandy, dog-friendly beach and a selection of pubs, restaurants as well as an excellent delicatessen.
