We enjoyed our stay at the Hilton in Birmingham. My kids were attending a show at the Iron City music venue nearby. The hotel was a 10 minute walk from the venue. There were some decent dining options nearby. Parking was convenient. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the view of Downtown Birmingham from our balcony. The area nearby can be a little noisy after hours.

Greeted with a warm hello and welcome when we walked through the door. Nice folks at a very conveniently located hotel. Literally walking distance to everywhere we needed to go. Safe, clean, nice. One nit: The property did not have valet parking which is a little bit of a pain but the parking garage was next door so it wasn't so bad. Overall, we've found our place in Birmingham.

The beds were horrible, and lumpy. I am 5’2” and the bed was so low that it was difficult to for me to stand up.

There was a continuous odor (raw sewage) in room 1021. There was also a leaking bathroom sink pipe which allowed water to accumulate on the bathroom floor. The complimentary breakfast was great.

It was okay. Nothing spectacular for sure. It could use some deep cleaning. The staff are kind and they work hard including housekeeping. By deep cleaning, I mean doors etc. Housekeeping can't possibly keep up with that. The small staff they do have work hard. Hire people Hilton. You can afford it.

Cold Night
The room was 56 degrees when we arrived. We froze for about 30 minutes until we could get the room warm enough to relax. The lighting in the room is very poor. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. The restaurant and bar downstairs was good, but again, it was very cold. Even the waitress was complaining about how cold it was.

Nasty Rooms and Erroneous Charges.
Well first of got to the room 410. Started to check for bed bug sign. Under both beds was full of trash and debris. One bed had a used water bottle under it. Then the TV was pixelating. So I went to the lobby to complain. Staff tried to tell me the TV issue was satelite due to the oncoming storm. They gave me room 415. I left room 410 door ajar. Inspected the beds again for bed bugs. Found the same nastiness under the beds. Beds have not been vacuumed underneath for years by the looks of things. Turn the TV on in room 415 first. It worked perfectly. Went back to 410 and it was still not working. Could not blame this on satelite issues. Moreso because the storm was still a few hours away. Then the room was hot. The local buttons the AC machine did not respond and there was no display. Then went to the wall unit and the display for it was not working. Had to guess and eventually turned the damn thing off. Temparature got down to 15 degrees outside during the night. In the morning, all they could say, was they were sorry. And offer of partial refund would have been more sincere. Then 2 days later I check banking account, I have 2 additonal charges. I was expecting one addtional charge of 15 dollars for the parking the car in THEIR parking deck. I got a 50.00 charge and a 73.83 charge.

The room (701) was barely sufficient. The heat wouldn’t cut off or turn down. We finally turned it off completely. The bathroom sink was extremely slow draining and then backed up with black water. The makeup mirror light didn’t work. I don’t think I will choose this Hilton again.

We traveled from TN to attend a friend's 40th birthday celebration and decided to stay at the Hilton because of location. Everything was clean, the staff are friendly, and beds slept comfortably. The morning of our departure, we had breakfast at the buffet. The food was good and we received exceptional service and warm smiles from Erika Thomas and Synetric Ollison. They were so friendly to us and even gave our toddler a candy cane as we left. We would definitely stay here again.

It took 15 minutes to get hot water for a shower. The construction workers should not be parking in the checkin area, it caused a lot of problems with checking in and checking out.

Poor infrastructure and staff training
Caveat, their lobby is under construction but I have no issue with that. My room had a bathroom which had a leaking ceiling and also a shower nozzle which would only turn the shower on halfway, with water spraying out the tub faucet. The phone was disconnected so I couldn’t call the front desk. The cable didn’t include many commonly accepted channels, so I didn’t watch TV and read a book instead. When I dropped by the bar to get a glass of wine, I stood there for 6 minutes while I watched 4 employees chat with each other and take inventory. Finally I asked if they were still open, and one of them said “yes, sorry I am doing inventory” [3 feet from me for 6 minutes]. 5 minutes later I had a glass of wine. Overall, it was a poor experience, and I am a very flexible traveler.

Staff was very rude upon arrival...2 people at front desk...no one in line but me...had to wait until someone decided to help me...room had knats flying everywhere...had to put food in closet so knats would not get in it....house keeping knocking on people's doors early in morning...8am....way before check out...very bad stay😫😡😫😡😫😡
