“Lovely stay friendly staff excellent food and amenities”

“Great stay in a great pub/inn in a lovely village. Originally we were looking for somewhere near York and picked this place at random – so got lucky. Decent-sized, comfortable room, the beer 'proper' Yorkshire, and the food was excellent throughout – we could have eaten almost amything on the quite extensive menu. “Liked: the sampling breakfast. Some continental items served first with cooked English breakfast after. No buffet is good. Disliked. No lift. 42 stairs to my room (10).”

“Very disappointed with the volume of dogs in the property. No designated areas in restaurant and one particular dog was allowed to sit on the bench seating unchallenged by staff , very poor management intervention! All bedrooms apparently “dog friendly!” Was not a nice experience and will not be returning. Finally, where was the pool and spa facilities ? Certainly not in the hotel!”

“Room was lovely, but the mattress was obviously old as it sagged in the middle. The hotel is right on a main road so a lot of noise and music playing till very late in the evening. It’s ok for an overnight stay but wouldn’t recommend longer”

After a very long journey in the heat really didn't want to get the car out again and was able to walk to the Tesco Express and back in less than ten minutes. Check-in and communication with host was great - we phoned twice and the call was answered immediately both times. “Situated in a picture postcard little village, everything about the hotel was top notch, the decor throughout and our room was tasteful and modern, everything was spotless and clean. The food was excellent, I had the fish platter which I would highly recommend. Staff were attentive and polite, it's a five stars from me”
