The Good: This rental was spotless upon our arrival. The main floor essentially has two master suites with attached bathrooms, which is a nice feature not seen in many places. The lower level was a bit chilly, but we were thankful for the large space heater provided! Kitchen was well-appointed compared to previous places we’ve stayed in. Location was picturesque in the woods. As mentioned in previous comments, you definitely need AWD in snowy weather to reach its remote spot on the back of the mountain due to some steep grades and hairpin turns. Being able to park 2 of 3 cars inside the garage during our stay was an added bonus.
The Bad: The only access to the home is through the garage door with a code entry. No keys for the front door nor a garage door opener were provided. This may not bother some folks, however we found trying to walk on an icy drive to get the garage door open less than ideal. The second master bathroom window had no blinds or curtains and looks out directly at the neighbor’s house. We hung a makeshift curtain out of a black garbage bag and band-aids for privacy. There is only a small trash bin in the kitchen, when it really needs a proper one with a lid given the size of the rental and number of people it sleeps.
My biggest complaint is lack of responsiveness from the management company and poorly updated contact information in the app. When we arrived, there had been recent snowfall on top of a very icy driveway. The contact number provided to us was invalid and also could not be reached by text. We found another number in the cabin’s info binder and were reassured by that person the plow company “knew what they were doing” when we asked for some sand or salt to be put down. 2.5 days later the plow company arrived 1 hour before our departure time and proceeded to plow/shovel the drive around our parked cars as we were loading. They did not put down any sand or salt, and both myself and my elderly parents nearly fell several times over our 3 day stay. We tried reaching out again through the contact information in the app and have yet to hear from anyone at the time of writing this review. I find this surprising and frustrating given previous commentary about how great the manager had been.
Bottom line: I would probably stay here again (like I said the house is great!), but not during the winter months. Make sure you get ahold of someone at the management company before your trip just in case.
