The cleanliness rating is based on how the room looked after cleaning. We stayed 4 nights and only requested service once, leaving a tip with a note. While the tip was gladly accepted, basic tasks were skipped—surfaces like the nightstand, dresser, and bathroom counter weren’t wiped, leaving drink and toothpaste rings behind. Beds were far too stiff, pillows too soft, and neither of us slept well, waking with sore necks.
Staff were polite when approached, but otherwise avoided eye contact and rarely greeted us, which felt unwelcoming. Carpets felt dirty, water ran scalding even on “cold,” and the door appeared previously tampered with. The jacuzzi and slide both showed rust and wear; they need refinishing. The parking area had coffee cups sitting on pillars for days without being cleared. The bathroom wallpaper is peeling and makes the space look dated.
Small touches were also missing: complimentary bottled water is standard in most hotels now, and with the rates charged, it should be included. For context, we paid less at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto for a spacious, elegant room with a king bed, and staff there remembered our names.
The positives: parking was included, and the front desk attendant was warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay.
