Vårt hem är en av de tre "stora gamla damerna" som byggdes tvärs över stranden som vetter direkt västerut till solnedgången. Byggdes 1927 för en rik Cape Charles-handlare har omfattande renoveringar gjorts för att återställa sin storslagna karaktär och skapa en av de mest bekväma, liksom avkopplande familjeuthyrning på den östliga delen av Virginia. Njut av en promenad på den omfattande sandstranden, solnedgången, kajak och paddlabräda, eller bygg ett sandslott! Varje kväll kan du se den fantastiska solnedgången från den avkopplande verandaen! Du kan besluta att "äta in" under lamporna på den bakre uteplatsen eller promenera till en av våra fina restauranger. Fina affärer, gallerier, restauranger och nöjen är alla inom gångavstånd.

Varje sovrum på andra våningen har en på suite badrum och kabel-tv. Den tredje våningen har två sovrum, ett badrum och ett mediarum. Den vackra sol veranda är utrustad med ett ståtligt biljardbord för din njutning. Två kajaker är tillgängliga för användning under din vistelse, tillsammans med den nödvändiga livväst och visselpipa. Du kan också bestämma att hyra en paddleboard i stan för att utforska vår vackra vik. Sola bada under dagen och svalna under vindbränningen på verandan på kvällen i vår pittoreska stad Cape Charles!

Perfect for our family

I'm sorry it has taken so long to review our stay. It was truly perfect for our family. We range in age from 3 to 70somethng, and we all enjoyed being so close to the beach. It made ferrying beach gear, kids, and food back and forth a cinch. The home is stunning, and the owners have filled it with interesting, tasteful decor and personal items. I have already recommended it to friends and coworkers who are looking for a beach vacation that's actually relaxing! Thank you for your hospitality, flexibility, and for sharing your lovely, historic home with so many.

We had a wonderful time. House is great for everyone except me. I am 73 and am currently having a hard time with my legs. lots of steps and the lack of bars in the shower made things difficult. Otherwise, we love the house and the location.

Memorial Day Weekend

This property is incredible in every way shape and form! We especially loved studying the incredible pieces of history on the walls and admiring the photo album of your Grandfather! What an incredible man and family!! We couldn’t think of a better place for honoring those who sacrificed so much for our freedom on Memorial Day! A great family get-a-way

This property was very comfortable, with many conveniences. Being across from the beach was a bonus. We were able to take the little ones to the beach for just a couple of hours, with little effort to get there. We appreciated all of the things in the house, that we did not have to drag from home. We enjoyed our stay.

A Cape Charles Classic

If you get an opportunity to stay at this beautiful home because the dates are available, DO IT! sunSet from the upstairs deck is worth it for the incredible pictures alone, but the room to spread out (family of 2 adults, 3 kids under 8, 2 teens and 2 grandparents), the ample beach towels, the media room for the teens with a Roku tucked away upstairs, the opportunity to play pool in the morning and then relax in the comfortably appointed living room at night, enjoy a family meal in the beautiful dining room, do laundry (two dryers, woo hoo!) and be literal steps from the beach are the icing on top. Lovely fenced backyard and watching their Poppy grill out kept our littles entertained outside, with the outdoor shower, beach chairs, beach toys, life vests, kayaks and golf cart charging station adding to the convience and enjoyment for everyone. Close to everything. We LOVED Cape Charles (first visit) and will be back!

Unbeatable Location and Sunset Views

We rented this house for a weekend getaway with four families, including 5 children ranging in age from 7 to 15. The property exceeded our expectations in terms of convenience, spaciousness and location! The house is literally across the street from the beach and the sunset views from the second floor balcony are spectacular. NOTE: This house happens to be across the street from the beach, but it is NOT a beach house in the sense that some renters may be expecting. It may not be a great fit for families with toddlers, young children and/or people with mobility issues who find climbing steep stairs a challenge. The kitchen is for prep and does not have sightlines to the living area. Having said that, our older children LOVED being able to spread out and find quiet places to hang out. The house has an unpaved alley that runs behind it where we parked our cars and our two rented golf carts; this was an unexpected perk because it made it much easier to unload/load luggage, groceries, kids, etc. without watching for street and sidewalk traffic. The back parking area also includes a golf cart charging station which is very helpful if you rent carts (highly recommended). We had very limited interaction with the property manager but that was okay because check-in/ out instructions were very clear and everything was in working order. Bathrooms needed a little more attention and the decor could use a feather duster, but all in all, a great stay!

Always Top Notch!

Our host, Anne, is on top of every detail. The house is beautiful and in the perfect location for easy access to the beach. This was our third year in a row staying at On the Bay and we plan to be back next year, Lord Willing.

Another great stay in Cape Charles

This property is so elegant yet relaxed and roomy. It has everything you need for a friends or family getaway. The hosts are responsive if needed. Love the new shower head in “Sunset”. The sunsets from the upper porch can’t be beat. And the outdoor fireplace is another fun feature!

Wonderful!

Our stay at the Chesapeake Bay View was wonderful! The house is even more impressive in person. There are enough beach chairs and beach toys for all so no need to travel with those. The house is beautifully decorated and the owners have thoughtfully and strategically put things out of the reach of toddlers which was a welcome surprise for us. Overall, we could not have asked for a better place to spend time with our family
