Amazing Winter Getaway
What a wonderful cozy getaway. The owners have a great feel for what folks are looking for in a getaway as a matter of fact they nailed it. Beautiful views out every window, birds, geese, deer, and elk up in the hills. Can't wait to come back and get some fishing in. This place will not disappoint. Quiet vacation spot and helpful owner
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we would love to stay there again. The interior of the house looks like it was recently remodeled, and it is clean & tastefully decorated. The views across the water are beautiful. The owner responded quickly to my questions, and even offered to come by and visit with us to answer our questions about fishing and crabbing in the area since he is a long time fisherman on the Columbia River. When he came by to visit, he had just arrived back in the states from an international trip, and I know he had to be exhausted, but he took time to greet our dog, and provide some excellent fishing and crabbing advice. Thank you, Steve, for making our vacation a great one.

Fishing trip
This place is off the charts. Everything you could possibly need. So clean and cozy. The back porch over looks the river. It rained one of the days we were there so we enjoyed the day just hanging at the house and fishing off the deck. We are already looking forward to coming back.

A little slice of heaven
We had such a wonderful stay. It was a beautiful property overlooking the water. We even got to see some river otters. Our host were fantastic very responsive and we would love to stay there again highly recommend it.

Fabulous relaxing and peaceful getaway
What a wonderful place and host. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We woke up to the birds singing to us and the osprey chatting. The three of us stargaze every summer and this was by far our favorite so far. The place had everything we needed for a getaway. It was the perfect place to go out in the night on the deck to witness the meteor showers. Steve was fantastic and quickly responded to the few questions we had. The deck facing the water was perfect for seeing the pelicans, osprey, and little birds. We drove the island and saw the deer. We took a day trip to astoria and on to the beach. And another day we took the ferry to Oregon for a farmers market. We definitely plan to go back. Thank you very much for allowing us ladies and my gigantic dog to stay!

Super Spot
Exceeded our expectations! Lovely, roomy, clean home with comfy beds and furniture. But the best part was the spectacular view of the Columbia River and seeing so many kinds of birds and even an otter!

Loved it!
We absolutely loved our stay at Steve’s Puget Island home! The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The kitchen was super well-stocked with plenty of gear for us to use for our meals. The setting is spectacular and it was so peaceful sitting on the back deck watching the birds and wildlife. We’ll certainly come again.

Elegant craft
Clean and quietly elegant river side cabin feels like home. Every thing one could want or need for kitchen use, laundry or bath. Host is thoughtful and responsive. Great bicycling /walking roads with little traffic. Wonderful view of the slough and river. Calm ambiance as one observes the tidal flow of the river and sky. Close to small town for coffee or groceries or a meal. My small chihuahua settled in comfortably as did we. Great spot.

Birthday getaway
We were fortunate to be in town for the Bald Eagle fest and we enjoyed the weekend so much, there was a fireworks show on my husband’s birthday, that was awesome. Everyone from the area that drove by would wave, we are so not used to that.

Mesmerizing and welcoming river view.
We came to the area to visit relatives, My sister recommended this wonderful house so we can marvel at the River view. The house was like home, everything you needed was available in the kitchen, bedrooms, bath, laundry, living area, and outdoor sitting area. The decor matched being in a River home, warm and decorative. Sitting and watching the birds was mesmerizing. This is a home you do not want to leave. The extra touches were greatly appreciated and enjoyed. The fact that our dog was welcome also was a big deciding factor to stay here. Blankets were available so our dog could sit with us to enjoy the view. Thank you for appreciating the four legged guest. We are so much looking forward to revisit this home. We extend our gratefulness to Steve and Betsy for welcoming us to stay here. This is very hard to post because we want to keep this hidden gem selfishly for ourselves. Bird Watchers and Fishing Cabin
Wow! A fully stocked kitchen AND memory foam mattresses. There is an Osprey nest (Seahawk) right next to the cabin. Really enjoyed watching the Bald Eagle and the Osprey fight over territory rights. You can literally fish off the back deck. There is even a deep well sink in the laundry room and the kitchen sink is deep well also. The coffee table in the den/living room area is gorgeous. We were all trying to figure how to get it in the rental car and on the plane. There are binoculars provided for you to bird watch with. If you are working in Longview it would only be about a 30 to 40 minute commute and the peace and quiet of the island plus the beauty of being on the Columbia River makes it worth it. There is also an RV hookup. Will definitely try to rent this again if we have to go back and finish the Longview store. The owner is super nice and even has bikes for your use if you want.

Beautiful
Loved the beautiful, fully renovated home, from the granite countops and stainless appliances to to amazing water view from the deck. We were mesmerized by the pelicans. We loved every surprise visit from the Osprey who was sitting on her eggs on the property. Every time we turned around - relaxation! Loved it! It was just what we needed! And Puget Island is lovely and the people are so friendly.

Peaceful and Quiet
We came here with our pup for a couple of nights for some peace and quiet, and it was the perfect stop to relax and unwind. Our dog had fun running around in the field each morning, and we were content to watch the birds during the day and the tv at night. We brought a jigsaw puzzle with us too, and the coffee table was perfect for assembling it (large, ultra-smooth surface). We did most of our own cooking, and the kitchen was well-stocked with cooking equipment and some basic ingredients (salt, pepper, some spices, cooking spray, vinegar). It was a quick drive to the grocery store in Cathlamet for anything we forgot to bring with us. If you visit on a weekend, Little Island Creamery is just down the road and has cheese and butter for sale.

Great getaway place.
The property is amazing. The views are great, the house was spotless and had everything we needed. The area is so peaceful and quiet. It was also great that we were allowed to have our dogs and they had a lot of room to run. The owners are very dog friendly and the house included dog blankets to cover the furniture if necessary. There were many personal touches such as fresh flowers on the table, a candy dish full of candy, and binoculars to watch the wildlife. We loved our stay there and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Columbia River Cabin
We had an amazing stay! This property is located on an island and is so peaceful. The cabin was extremely clean and cozy. Kitchen and bathroom were well stocked. We loved the deck and enjoyed all the wildlife, the changing tide and the sunsets. We had our lab with us and she had a great time playing in the field across the street from the house. We were in the area for work and did not get a chance to enjoy any of the local restaurants, but there looked to be some great breakfast options! We plan to return to the area someday and will bring our paddle board and fishing poles! Steven was so kind and we appreciate his hospitality.

Great place!
This place was amazing. Beyond our expectations and fit the three of us perfectly. We are musicians and friends and it was the best space to create while viewing nature and not disturbing the neighbors. None of us knew the Columbia River had tides. That was pretty cool to see. Clean beyond expectations. Even the photos didn't tell the story of this beautiful, well built, 'feels like home' vacation cottage. Our hosts included many exciting extras, and even left us some chocolates, a card, and our favorite bubbly for our anniversary. Can't say enough.

Awesome views, peaceful and beautiful.
The property sits right on the waterfront where you can enjoy the wildlife from your balcony. It is serene and has easy access to areas for kayaking, fishing, boating, bird watching and hiking. There is also beach access on the river nearby and it is close enough to Astoria if you want to take a drive for the day. We would happily stay here again.

Second Time Visiting
Our experience was the same as it was when we stayed here last year. Steve and Betsy are wonderful people. They are kind and made it a priority to meet all of our needs. The property has a beautiful view and is located in a quiet location. We love that we can bring our furry loved ones. We plan to make it our annual getaway. Our only regret is not staying longer.

We'll be back!
What a treat! Columbia River House was above and beyond our expectation. The river house is completely remodeled for a cozy cabin feel. Fully stocked with everything you need. Enjoy coffee in the morning while taking in the sunrise, enjoying the river and the plethora of wildlife. The island is quaint and offer several restaurants, a marina, grocery store and friendly residents. Be sure to take in the breathtaking sunset. You won't be disappointed. The owner was working on the property across the street and was friendly. We enjoyed the conversations. Without a doubt we will be back!

Peace, rest, and wildlife
Our hopes for this trip were good rest (and the beds were comfortable for sleeping, the couches great for napping), quiet, and delightful experiences with wildlife—and this home delivered. We saw eagles, osprey, pelicans, cormorants, adolescent goslings, and many other bird species. We enjoyed wandering around Cathlamet, but mostly we stayed on the island either in the house or walking the roads with our dogs (next time we’ll be prepared to launch our paddle boards from the property or maybe use the bikes provided). The reason we didn’t want to leave the house was that it had everything we needed; the kitchen was well equipped and the binoculars provided hours of bird gazing. Our hopes were indeed met for this trip and we truly got away from our everyday lives and unwound.

Stunning nature, beautiful home
There is no other experience of the Columbia River quite like this one. You are perched right over the water in a comfortable, very stylish and updated comfortable home that is ideally designed for getting together. We saw countless birds including osprey, eagles, various wrens and ducks, and fanatic snowy egrets. We also saw a river otter.
