Welcome to the G.F. Wiard House, a beautifully restored historic home just a short walk from Sheridan Avenue in the heart of Cody. Originally built in 1907 by George Frederick Wiard, this thoughtfully renovated home blends early Cody character with modern comfort. Step outside and stroll to restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, and local boutiques, then return to your own spacious retreat. With room for families or groups and dog friendly accommodations, the G.F. Wiard House offers the perfect basecamp for exploring Cody and nearby Yellowstone National Park.
Inside, historic charm meets modern design. The open floor plan highlights original refinished oak floors, vaulted ceilings, and warm natural light throughout the main living area. The fully equipped kitchen features quartz countertops, stainless appliances, and modern cabinetry, making it easy to cook and gather together. The dining area comfortably seats ten around a handsome vintage table, while the spacious living room invites everyone to relax after a day of adventure. The home offers four inviting bedrooms, including a king suite with a private bathroom and step in shower. Two additional main level bedrooms share a bathroom with tub and shower combination, while the upstairs loft provides a unique retreat with a queen bed, twin bed, and cozy reading nook.
Outdoor spaces add to the charm of this historic home. Enjoy your morning coffee from an Adirondack chair on the welcoming front porch or relax in the fully fenced backyard with outdoor seating and a gas grill. There are actually 5 museums here and while Buffalo Bill's story is the star attraction, the Yellowstone Natural History museum was also really interesting. I was so impressed by the quality of the exhibits and the old photographs were just wonderful. A real surprise

Very charming house only 2 blocks from downtown Cody. We were a party of 6…4 adults and 2 kids. The house had plenty of sleeping space and bathrooms to accommodate our needs. Kitchen was well stocked with the necessities. Plenty of parking. Great front porch to chill out on. Grocery shopping was a 5 minute drive away. Great base for visiting Yellowstone. 50 minutes from the east entrance.

Great place

We really enjoyed staying at this property. This was one of the cleanest properties we've ever stayed at. The back yard needs some attention, but overall I would stay here again.

Wedding in Cody

Home was very clean and exactly as pictured. The amenities provided the comfort of home. 5 of us stayed in the home and it was roomy and we were not on top of each other. Plenty of coat hangers to hang wedding attire. The location is absolutely wonderful. Close and convenient to all the restaurants and shops. Great area for walking a dog too.

Beautifully restored historic home

Beautifully restored historic home in downtown Cody. Only blocks from main street, gift shops restaurants, theatres, The Irma Hotel, etc. Even the Buffalo Bill Center of the West is within walking distance. We especially enjoyed relaxing at the end of the day on the front porch while watching the wildlife wander the neighborhood.

Our stay was perfect!

House was clean. Safe location. Loved the visits from the neighborhood deer that came in the yard twice during our stay. House/Yard was great for our two Newfoundland dogs; although we did cover the 2 white chairs in the living room with sheets as soon as we got there just in case.

Great house for a visit to Yellowstone

This house had everything we were looking for. Kitchen was roomy and well stocked. Beds were comfortable. Yard was perfect for our furry friends. Location was great, my husband walked to breakfast at Granny's, just 3 short blocks away. (He likes to get up early, before the rest of us, and go out for breakfast.). We would definitely stay there again.
