  • Elk Creek Retreat is a brand new two bedroom (both master bedrooms), two bath cabin on a rushing trout stream and 8 acres. If you are looking for a stream side cabin you will not find a better location anywhere. Elk Creek Retreat is located on Elk Creek which has excellent trout fishing, is a State stocked trout stream, and is rated as the second cleanest stream in all of North Carolina. Open the windows and fall asleep to the sound of the stream which runs directly behind the cabin. Amenities include hot tub, Wi-Fi, fireplace, grill, outdoor fire pit, and plenty of decking that overlooks the stream. The location is convenient to both Boone and Blowing Rock both within about a 25 minute drive.

This is the 3rd time we have rented from them. We usually rent the house next door with the red roof but they didn’t have anything available on the dates we were looking for so we rented the house next to that which is this house! Always an amazing stay. Super clean, relaxing, and my 13 year old and my 16 year old enjoy every minute of it! Looking forward to our 4th stay next year!!

We are not very picky people but what drew us to this listing was the fact it was pet friendly. Honestly, I cannot think of anything I would change. The setting is absolutely beautiful and private. The house is well equipped and TVs worked great along with WIFI. The back porch is very large and offers plenty of shade or sun. The hot tub was great and was the perfect place to listen to the rushing water at your back doorstep. The worst part of my experience was having to leave. Everything worked as it should and I look forward to future visits.

The cabin was beautiful and well maintained. Enjoyed the view of Elk Creek and the sound of the running water. Made use of the hot tub while enjoying the view. I had no luck trout fishing, but wading the stream was fun.

The cabin was amazing. It was in great location and the stream was easily accessible. Loved everything about the cabin. The only issues we had were that there were quite a few flies and gnats inside the house, none of the soap dispensers by the 3 sinks had soap in them (in fact one just had water in it), and just as an FYI for future guests, shower accessories like shampoo/conditioner/body wash/extra TP are not included. The linens/towels were clean and plentiful, the bed was comfortable, there was Dawn and Laundry Detergent which was nice as we ended up using the washer after spending the evening by the fire pit. One other thing to note, we forgot to bring wood for the fire pit and wood is not provided. There was a number to call to get wood delivered but when we called it, the poor guy who answered said he was too old to deliver wood and that he has not done that in years. Don't let any of this deter anyone though-we would totally stay here again!

Cabin was immaculate and cozy. The creek was amazing! We found lots of salamanders and frogs out on the rocks, so if that's your thing, this is the place for you! The hot tub was a great feature after long hikes around the area. Check in/out was super easy. No reception but there's a phone line and wifi should you need it. We had a blast!

Private, Clean, and Quiet. The beds were amazing, the kitchen has everything you need to eat in, excellent gas grill, the deck over looks the stream and we especially loved the picnic table and hot tub on the deck. Everything you need for a quiet get away to also unplug. Pet friendly and we loved the large deck for our fur babies to hang out. The owner was super. Thanks Bill for making our trip amazing. Just had a wonderful time with my wife, 2 girls and dog. The place is amazing and is better than the photos.The host was very accommodating by letting us add on an extra day. Communication was good.We went fishing in the creek and caught two trout. Released them since they were to small.Everyday you could sit on the porch and watch a deer and her baby. The fireflies were something to see. Sitting in hot tub and listening to the creek is perfect. I did not listen to other guests. There is absolutely no cell service there, so print your info. Fortunately I remembered the wifi password and didnt have to drive back. Wifi was great.The road is paved until you get close to the place then it becomes a gravel road. Our suv had no trouble.You will have to take trash to a community collection center which is about 15 mins away and are closed on Tuesday and Thursday. Hope info helps.Again this place is so beautiful. We will definitely be coming again.

We really enjoyed it and it is a very nice place to stay. The only issues we had was not being able to get the fire logs to work, but it was ok. It also took a day for the hot tub to warm up; again, no problem. We did have poor cell service, but got by.
