“The room was within walking distance from the bamboo forest and local restaurants. It was hard to find dining at night because some restaurants close early and you have to cross bridge to search for other restaurants. Too many gnats flying around. Gnats were also in the rooms. The staff were really nice and very helpful and patient.”

“Wonderful place to stay, we loved that the area was in a real neighborhood and not touristy. The only complaint is the main bedroom faces a an alley that has a motion activated light that shines bright on and off all night while you are trying to sleep. Dark shade would help this situation. ”

“We loved our stay overall. The place was beautiful and spacious, and the architectural details and lighting were lovely. There was only 1 bed, which was a little disappointing to our adult children. Other places we’ve stayed in Japan have specified if a bedroom had only mats, but this listing indicated beds in all 3 bedrooms. It was still a nice place to stay. I only mention this to suggest that the listing could be more accurate if it was clear that only bedroom 1 has a true bed. ”

“Ein typisches altes japanisches Haus mit tollem Flair. Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche, täglich frisches Wasser und Handtücher. Wir haben uns zu sechst sehr wohl gefühlt, die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter hat auch sehr gut geklappt. Die Strasse war beim ersten Mal nicht ganz einfach zu finden, auch der Taxifahrer hat sich schwer getan. Ich kann die Unterkunft für eine größere Gruppe/ Familie aber nur weiterempfehlen! ”

“Good quiet neighborhood even though it is next to the overhead rail system. ”

“The property had everything we needed. The full kitchen was a must for us and they provided everything. The house was so authentic. we enjoyed exploring the Northern part of Kyoto and heading up to the mountain so this was a perfect location for us to explore from. we would definitely come back here to this location again.”

“This is the best place we've stayed at internationally .Our experience here was absolutely amazing due to the amazing hosts and the lovely home.Kozo and Cheika went above and beyond with their hospitality: they met us, served us tea and snacks, offered us a fridge with food and then came back to refill snacks, and tidy our place part way through our stay. "Fantastic Ryokan experience, from start to finish. Only 30 min away from Tokyo and yet very secluded. Note that Momijiya consist of two different accomodations: the main building up by the road (Honkan Sansou), and a more exclusive annex down by the river (Bekkan Kawa No Iori. This review concern the latter. Shuttle bus service is offered from Hanazono station, among a few others. "

"Harmonic, clean and calm hotel with a lot of amenities. The private baths were amazing, the public bath was also very nice. The traditional breakfast was really interesting. Not all things were to our liking. Natto for example was an acquired taste but overall it was really nice to try the genuine Japanese cuisine. The staff was also extremely helpful the day we checked out. My fiancée unfortunately had to go to the ER. The staff helped us to call the local hospitals to see which one was available and they also called for a taxi. We highly recommend this spa hotel."
