“A really comfortable and charming property. Very clean with a well equipped kitchen. The bed was also good (even for me with a bad back). The location is superb - in a quiet valley, an easy walk to Bolton castle and just a stroll to Aysgarth waterfalls. As a map will show, really close to Wensley and Leyburn with nice pubs. Juliet and David were very friendly hosts (as were the sheep).”

“Very pretty and had all we needed for self catering. Maybe a baking sheet, smaller saucepan and a baking dish would have been useful - not a big deal!Lovely to be next to the beck, loads of birds to watch and interesting places to visit.Drive from The Tan Inn to Hawes not for the faint hearted, narrow and very steep.Noticed a funny mark in the oven which I couldn't clean so emailed the office and someone came the next day to clean it - excellent. “We had a wonderful five night stay in Newbiggin. Phil could not have been more helpful and accessible.Westbrook House was beautifully clean and well equipped. We were blessed with incredible weather and sitting outside the cottage enjoying the peace and quiet with a glass of wine was just perfect.Excellently situated for walks and other local delights.Cannot recommend highly enough - thank you Phil”

“This was a fantastic cottage with all the mod cons and incredibly clean, lovely beds and towels and biscuits and milk left for us also.We did think there would be a back garden with grass as we had taken our little dog with us but there was'nt. My husband did find a very large field with right of way about 2 mins walk away so little dog loved it so not so much of a problem. ”

“right up our street , the landlady is brilliant and wish i got to now her better . and we will go back for another visit ,but have to stay a bit longer. brilliant for walking ,plenty of info inside comfy cottage, felt compleetly chilled when we left and looking forwards to another visit .”

“Fantastic find. Lovely views. We were blessed with new born lambs to watch. It's quiet apart from a variety of bird song, lovely. Each pod is labelled and has a discrete fencing/ stone wall for privacy. The hut itself was clean and in great condition and a good temperature. Perfect size for a couple. There is a double sofa bed for 2 more, but that would be extremely cosy. Kitchen area is fine for self catering. Don't bring too much as the fridge is small, but it does have a tiny ice box for ice...

“We had a brilliant stay at the Rookery! We were a family gathering of 6 adults and 4 boys, ranging from 6 to 9, and the space, both indoors and outdoors was ideal for games and relaxation.The kitchen was very well equiped, with everything we needed and the sleeping arrangements worked really well, with very comfortable beds and lovely thick curtains which meant the boys settled down well. ”

“3 adults staying for a short break. Comfy beds, everything we needed (dishwasher would have been great but no idea where it could have fitted in). It’s a compact cottage but we didn’t feel we were getting in easy other’s way. The World Famous Tan Hill Inn

4/10 Dåligt

"The location is a perfect ten, but the staff was far from good. First of all, it took us 1.5 hours to check in, and we didn’t sense any effort to speed up the process. There was a complete lack of willingness from the staff to make our experience enjoyable. Our room was also dirty, which unfortunately aligned with the poor check-in experience. The Tan Hill has the potential to be amazing. It has everything going for it—except the staff, who failed to make our stay pleasant."
