“My wife and I stayed 4 night in this updated 1700s cottage that was clean and cozy. I’m an early riser so I enjoyed the early mornings by the fire pit and my wife slept in. We visited a lot of the area places ie Strasburg railroad, sight and sound theatre which was amazing! Went to Amish and or Mennonite owned and or run shops and markets and just had a relaxing time when we return to the cottage . The Meck’s did a wonderful job updating yet keeping it from the era. “The apartment was the perfect size for for our family of four and our dog. The kitchen was well appointed for cooking a few meals at home to save some money. The bathroom is large and well laid out. If you're looking for ice cream, check out Fox Meadows creamery, a short walk away or drive a few minutes to Hayloft ice cream. At Hayloft, you can feed ducks and fish in the adjacent pond. Achenbachs bakery, just down the road, has some good long johns.”

“My husband and I had another wonderful stay on Carol's property in May. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when we are in the area. From the moment of our arrival, we are welcomed by Carol and her delicious scones and fresh eggs from her chickens. We feel relaxed as soon as we open the door. The only disappointment we experienced was having to leave! We can't wait for our next visit!”

“Great little place for an overnight stay. The cottage is as cute as can be. It’s on the same property close to the main house but is private enough. Sure, no running water and the shower is tiny but it was a fun, cozy cottage. Totally worth the stay and the riverside bar/restaurant in Port Deposit was fantastic as well as a pub along the Main Street. Live music at both places. Thanks for hosting us!”

“Myself, my wife, and our dog stayed the weekend while I was in town for a seminar and, truthfully, I can't think of a single thing about this property that wasn't wonderful. It's located close to everything in town without being in town itself. It's right off a main road, but the cottage is set back enough so that it is not obtrusive. “We had a five sibling reunion--the youngest was 78. We made extensive use of the Keurig single cup coffee maker and the four recliner chairs. The front door handle was broken, but it was promptly fixed while we went to dinner. The guest book with information regarding the area was missing so we used Google and recommendations from people we interacted with. All communication was through VRBO because we weren't given a direct phone number. The location is very beautiful and rural with Amish farms...

“This is a beautiful home with beautiful views in a quiet area of Strasburg. We loved the sun room and porch views. We enjoyed watching the many birds in the area. One thing that might need to be considered before booking is that there are very steep stairs in the home and an unlevel pathway to the front door. If you have mobility issues, this may not be the right home for you.”

We were able to take some amazing pictures for our wedding of our wedding party while getting ready with the beautiful landscape behind us.
