We absolutely loved our stay in the Blue Iguana room in The Cottages at East End Cayman … The room itself is immaculate, the bed is super comfortable and you will be set up for your morning coffee or tea while you await breakfast delivery on the lanai. The staff (Glenn and Vanessa were on site for our stay) are truly the nicest and most helpful you could possible wish for.
You should rent a car because this IS at the far (quiet! Not busy! Wonderful!) end of the island but that is far by island definitions, you can be pretty much anywhere in 30-40 minutes. Our longest drive was to Macabuca at the other end of Cayman, that took just under an hour and was well worth it. Close by you can walk to Mimi’s (and snorkel off the dock!), Davids and The Italian Kitchen. Tukka, Vivines and Eagle Rays are all within a 4-7 minute drive and I am sure there are more that we didn’t explore. Every single thing at every restaurant was wonderful!
Swimming and snorkeling right out front is available and although there isn’t coral reef right there you will see lots of little nursery spots with tiny reef fish, squirrel fish in holes, we saw HUGE lobsters and a spotted eel hiding under a rock and watched a giant ray going about his business. For a full on reef snorkel drive 20-30 minutes to Spotts beach and swim out towards the buoys. Amazing.
We are already planning our return trip the Cayman and The Cottages!!!
