Gilmore House

We are located off of historic Gilmore Trail appx. 10 miles north of Fairbanks. Our cute 3b.r.- 1 bath home can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people and is perfect for anyone who is interested in exploring the Last Frontier at your own pace. We have a large deck located on the 2nd floor and a large front porch, both overlooking the historic Gold filled hills north of town. Great for watching the Northern Lights or enjoying the Midnight Sun! The kitchen has pots & pans, dishes, silverware, baking pans, cake pans etc. and we always provide, with our compliments, a food *'Starter Kit' with things like Bacon & Eggs & OJ plus a variety of condiments, salad dressings, spices, and more, plus some snacks & bottled water. In the freezer there are always a couple of pizzas! *(Gluten /Dairy free options available upon request with advanced notice). So much easier than trying to find a Grocery store before you've even had a chance to get settled in! With a little notice, we can pick you up or drop you off at the Airport or Train Depot. We are Pet friendly & have water & food bowls & a blanket for your fur babies. We live next door, so no matter what time of year you come to Alaska, we are always available should you need anything & we will do our absolute best to make sure you and your family & friends have a great visit! No matter where you choose to stay, whether with us or elsewhere, we hope you have a wonderful time in Alaska!

Laura and Martin were amazing hosts! The cabin is cozy and warm. If you are going for the Northern Lights, this cabin is the perfect spot. Close enough to the city for touristing during the day and far enough in the hills to get out of the ice fog and watch the Northern Lights dance at night. Highly recommend this rental!

The host went above and beyond in every capacity. Breakfast food, snacks and drinks were waiting for us when we arrived at midnight. She left lights on for us and had home toasty. Kitchen was fully stocked, towels plentiful and beds super comfortable.

The house was clean and warm. It was cozy with large windows to watch the birds and squirrels on the front porch or enjoy the peacefulness of the forest. It had the feeling of coming home. Laura and Martin thought of everything! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to need to cook a meal. They even had everything to make breakfast. The beds were comfortable with flannel sheets and extra blankets if needed. The cabin was filled with historical photographs and books that added interest. The location was perfect and easy to find. The snow covered trees made it magical! The second story balcony was perfect for Aurora viewing!

Perfect. Laura thought of every amenity and the snacks/food were great as was the condiment section in the frig (mustard, mayo, butter!) We only saw the lights one night and Laura alerted us to them. The bed was comfy, and the living area was great for hanging out in and watching the birds and squirrels at the feeder.

We decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary in AK to see the Northern Lights. This was our second but longest stay. What a wonderful location! Great hostess! After asking about GF restaurants, she provided some GF items for our “starter kit”. It was wonderful and much appreciated. She asked if we wanted to be informed of when the Northern lights were out (which was our very last night there) and alerted us. The view from the upstairs deck was amazing and super convenient. So peaceful and quiet. We even saw a mother moose and her 2 calves eating leaves and grass in the front and side of the house!

We absolutely loved our stay at Gilmore house. The house offered all the comforts of home along with Alaskan artifacts that made you feel the history of the land. There is a quiet beauty and calmness that envelops you. It is a rare treasure in today's rush, rush world. Laura went above and beyond in ensuring our stay was everything we wanted it to be. The fridge was full of breakfast foods, pizza in the freezer, snacks on the counter- we have never felt more welcome at a VRBO. Laura even provided us suggestions of things we could do locally. You feel truly cared for at the Gilmore House. Highly recommend!!! 5 star plus

Experience couldn't be beat. Host were exceptional. Went above and beyond what we expected. House had so many unique artifacts and antiques. Landscaping was beautiful with all the flowers. Special dietary needs were met. Loved the starter food package they provided. Rooms were super nice. They also provided information about things to do and see in the Fairbanks area. Definitely recommend Gilmore House for the ultimate Alaskan stay.

Laura and Martin have a wonderful get-away. Breakfast, coffee, water and snacks await you upon arrival. The house is clean and the decor provides real Alaskan vibe. I stayed mid-July and the deck and flowers were peaceful and inviting. As hosts,, they are friendly and attentive. I would recommend anyone to their lovely Gilmore house.

A taste of Alaska

Our stay at the Gilmore House was comfortable and relaxing. The owners have put a lot of thought into making their rental everything a family would need. The supplies for breakfast after a long late night flight was appreciated so much. The house is decorated with many antiques and artifacts of Alaska. Reading materials on Alaska history along with many brochures of places to visit were also provided. We really enjoyed our mornings on the deck, reading with a cup of coffee, surrounded by beautiful flowers. The bedrooms were very comfortable and felt like home. Laura was very quick to respond to any questions and provided recommendations along with keeping us informed when wildfires started in the area. We hope to return and will definitely recommend the Gilmore House to anyone visiting Fairbanks.

Where to begin…Laura and Martin were just the best! Laura went out of her way to find my favorite coffee creamer from the lower 48! That made for the perfect cup of coffee on the perfect first Alaska morning on the perfect front porch! We enjoyed our view from the living room and master bedroom! We were so thankful for the comfy beds and hot showers. My family was so thankful for the snacks and breakfast items provided! We had no idea what to expect planning our first Alaskan vacation from 4000 miles away! So the 5 star review on The Gilmore House gave us a level of comfort! It did not disappoint! It was the perfect cabin for our adventure! We were able to get from site to site easily and parking and access were easy! Laura provided many recommendation on restaurants and attractions prior to our arrival. We did many, and they were all great! We are so thankful for our visit here and all that Laura did to make it perfect! Not sure when or if we would return to Fairbanks, but this would be our first choice! It should definitely your first choice too!

Laura and Martin went above and beyond to make The Gilmore House feel like home away from home. We all agreed that this was our favorite stop on our Alaska tour. The little and big details did not go unnoticed. From the "Welcome Starter Snacks", frozen pizzas and breakfast items were so appreciated!! Kitchen had everything you need to make meal prep easy. Beds were super comfy and everything was impeccably clean. Loved all the history and antiques that were throughout the house. Easy to follow directions to the house and great communication before and during our stay. Even left something behind and Laura said she would mail it to us! Book the Gilmore House and you will not be disappointed! Would love to stay again if we find ourselves in Alaska again some day!

Super cute place to stay

Great communication with the host. Laura offered recommendations for activities and restaurants prior to our visit. The home is super cute and was comfortable for 4 adults. I enjoyed all of the old pictures and antiques. Location was very convenient for all of our activities. I would definitely recommend and would stay again. I appreciated the thoughtfulness of snacks and breakfast items that were available to us as our flight arrived in the middle of the night.
