På andra våningen i en vacker byggnad skiljer sig Casa Foscolo ut för ljusstyrkan i rummen och de utrymmen som är lätta att utnyttja. Den har ett sovrum med dubbelsäng och en stor och bekväm bäddsoffa med dubbelsäng.
Strukturens historia går förlorad i tiden och behåller bara några men obestridliga spår från dess förflutna. Bland dessa är det sjuttonhundratalets marmorinskrift som vittnar om användningen av byggnaden som oratorium för Santa Maria Maddalena under tidigare århundraden. Be prepared to pay 50 Euro through Paypal on top of your booking, in what the host describes as the City tax fee. In the property description it says "Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees." - this is clearly false. When i asked her to show me where it says this, she avoided my question. We only kept the booking because we didn't have another option. I would avoid.

The appartment was light and airy, more or less as described and the location very good. The bathroom needs to be updated.The host's instructions about how to find the key were unclear, involving a madonna statue which I was too short to see. Once I arrived at the door with the correct keys, it would not open, which was very stressful after a long journey. I contacted her on Whatsapp and she was completely unhelpful, even rude, implying that it was all my fault, refusing to take any responsibility. I eventually got into the apartment with the help of a guest in another room, who discovered that the door had been deadlocked. A very bad start to the holiday.The place is described as having two bedrooms but there was only one set of bedding.She had assumed, on no evidence, that we were bed sharing. My friend had to make do with a very poor quality sheet from the dingy basement laundry.We loved Florence in spite of our host

Appartement très bien situé, mais ….il y a un gros mais… après plus de 8 heures de route plus la recherche du parking (Lungarno en pleine zone ZTL) car il n’est pas possible de garer devant l’appartement (zone ZTL)et donc plus de 400m à effectuer en pente bien raide avec bagages , nous voilà devant l’appartement. Et là, surprise , l’appartement était déjà occupé !!! Donc contact avec la gérante qui nous dit que ce n’est pas possible. L’adrénaline commençant à me monter sérieusement,je décide de prendre toutes les clés restantes dans la boîte à clés et faire tous les appartements restants!!! On en trouve 1 et on s’y installe (une chance car je ne sais pas comment on aurait fait s’il n’y en avait pas de libre)Finalement la gérante nous dit que c’est OK. L’opération a au moins durer d’une heure. Système d’accueil à revoir complètement car je pense qu’une personne malveillante ayant déjà séjourné dans les lieux peut à tout moment rentrer dans l’immeuble, prendre une clé au hasard et s’attribuer un appartement pour une nuit. Sinon l’emplacement est idéal pour un séjour à Florence.

Host was generally unhelpful and unaccommodating. Before arrival she would try to call me if I didn’t respond to her texts within five minutes, making me somewhat uncomfortable as a 20 year old woman travelling with my same age friend. Upon arrival, the key was not left where we were told it would be, and when we finally got in with a second round of instructions the host wouldn’t provide any info on how to set up the (confusing) sofa bed, insisting that if we needed to use it we should have told her at the time of booking (this is not specified anywhere nor did she ask us if we needed it prior to our trip). The A/C is only in the living room and barely works anyways; get ready for hot/sleepless night if you’re staying in the bedroom. Several (older) people got stuck in the elevators during our stay and there was no urgency from the host/building operator to resolve this, leaving them stuck for an hour in 35 degree heat. Anything we needed (i.e. extra toilet paper) we were simply told to look for in the laundry room, and since it was never actually there we ended up having to purchase a couple of things ourselves. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Okay but…

Spacious apartment in a great location! The queen bed was great, however the sofa bed was not the most comfortable and made noises, including some loud bangs, with every movement. Unfortunately, we also did not have wifi for about half of our 3 day stay. The host responded quickly when we contacted her initially, but did not keep us informed/updated about when the wifi would be back until we followed up several hours later and was not apologetic about the issue. There was also a big emphasis on throwing out garbage daily which would be no problem, however the garbage bags provided were very small (3 litres) which was inconvenient. The shower was also tiny, making it difficult to use for anyone average or larger sized. Overall, the stay was fine but we wouldn’t come back.

Recommended Stay in Quiet yet Central OltrarnoWe highly recommend this apartment for anyone visiting Florence. Located in the charming Oltrarno neighborhood—just across the river from the busy tourist areas—it offers a peaceful retreat while still being incredibly close to everything. It’s only a 3-minute walk to Ponte Vecchio, 7 minutes to the Uffizi Gallery, and about 14 minutes to the Duomo.The apartment is well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There’s even an elevator (just be sure to fully close all the elevator doors or it won’t operate). For those arriving by car like we did, a garage just 5 minutes away handles the ZTL (restricted traffic zone), which made parking stress-free.One helpful tip: when arriving with luggage, take the uphill route via Costa S. Giorgio rather than the stairs—it’s a much easier walk.The living room has air conditioning, and the bedroom is equipped with a ceiling fan. All in all, a great place to stay in a quieter yet convenient part of Florence!

Sleepless nights because the A/C was only in the living room and it leaked water so the bedroom would never really cool down. The shower was tiny. Even an average size person would have a difficult time in this shower. Great location though. Felt safe.

En raison d’une erreur de paiement de la part de l’agence, la communication avec l’hôte a été très tendue, voire désagréable. L’hôte a refusé de régler ce problème avec l’agence, les deux se sont passé la balle et j’ai payé davantage pour la taxe de séjour. L’appartement est très bien situé et propre, mais je ne le recommande pas aux personnes à mobilité réduite ou plus corpulentes, en raison de la pente très abrupte pour y accéder et de la douche plutôt étroite.

Wonderful for our family of 4

If you have any mobility issues, be aware that the climb may be somewhat difficult but it was no problem for us. The apartment was clean, well appointed and very close to a grocery store. It’s just steps away from the Ponte Vecchio and Galileo’s house. We loved it! The shower is very small so it may be difficult for larger people to use.

Quick trip to Florence

The apartment was exactly as pictured and the location was perfect. The washing machines are not exactly the easiest to use as location is in basement and instructions on the machines in Italian. However they were very nice to have access too. The communication with the property owner was difficult. She was always quick to respond, but her responses are short and curt. This could be because of translation issues, but is off putting to a traveler.

Convenient location in Florence. Apartment was clean and neat and well-equipped. There are a lot of steps which is not uncommon in Italy, but you should be aware. Bathroom shower is tiny, which is also typical for Italy stays. It was perfect for what we needed.

Casa Foscolo is truly the best kept secret in Florence :) I had a great stay with my wife and 2 kids. The property is located in a quiet side street minutes away from Pointe Vecchio. The river Arno's majestic beauty is 1 street away - and the Uffizi Academy is right across the bank on the other side. The apartment was quaint but well equipped with a fully functional kitchen. The next big secret has to be the amazing (mini) super market a few mins away. We enjoyed fresh pasta and wine, dining to the sound of church bells - followed by strolls to our favorite gelato spots we spotted on our way back from various sight seeing trips. The apartment manager, Serena was especially helpful - quick to attend to our texts in whatsapp - when we couldn't decipher how to get on to wifi :) Small and beautiful, Foscolo and the walks around the side streets of Florence will remain fond memories of Italy for us.
