As expected and beyond

Our stay was as expected but beyond. The rental was very clean and included some welcome beverages in the fridge. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful which is what we needed. We are local to the area and we’re needing a relaxing staycation which we got.

Cozy beach house in a quiet neighborhood!

Absolutely loved our stay. The home was very clean and close to the beach. The hosts were very quick to respond with any and all my needs. Would highly recommend staying here! Jamaica beach gives you small town feels while being close to shopping and restaurants.

Perfect for us!

We wanted a place on the water (the canals) but still close to the beach (just across the road from the neighborhood). Very cozy home that was setup just how we wanted and owners were very responsive. We will be back!

We had the most terrific time at the Shell Shack

I always love staying at a canal house! Rain or shine! Always great! The owners were right on top of everything and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. We especially loved the added amenities that most other places didn't provide. We highly recommend. (This review was not solicited in any way)

Super Clean and Fully Stocked

I wish I could give this property a 5 but I’m giving an overall rating of 4 because of the electrical issue it has. Many of the lights in the house would dim and get brighter off and on and at times just turn off completely on their own. In the bunk room, the fan/light would turn off and on by itself. The light came on multiple times at night while we were sleeping. I would suggest not using the fan at night in that room to avoid this. We also had an issue with the thermostat. The A/C seemed to work great but the thermostat kept getting disconnected or something so we could change the temp. The owners were great with scheduling an HVAC tech to make sure there wasn’t a problem with the unit. The positives of this place: It was spotless when we arrived! Has to be the cleanest rental we’ve stayed in in a long time. I was impressed. The golf cart worked great for our stay but we only drove around the neighborhood or down to the park, not to the beach. Having the house fully stocked was a huge plus. The checkout list is super short. I felt like I was doing something wrong by not having a huge list of duties to do before heading out. And, of course, the location was superb. Corner canal lot was beautiful and it was fun to sit out and watch the waterway “traffic.” We also saw lots of fish while we were there. Our 5 year old had a blast! Lina and Dennis, thank you so much for sharing your place!

Great spot for a family vacation!

We really enjoyed our stay in Jamaica Beach. The property came furnished with all of the amenities to have a great time. Our kids really enjoyed golf cart rides to the beach, canoeing, boogie boards and the fish light was really cool. Loved that this property was on a corner as well. Thank you for sharing your home with us! Fun memories were made.

Great Stay

Great property! The house was perfect for a small family. The nearby beach was not crowded like the ones closer to town, and really clean. We loved all the extras like the paddle boards and fishing gear. The gold cart did not work the entire time, but the host was super responsive and had it fixed right away. We would definitely stay here again.

A great place to fish and relax

Lovely location for fishing off the deck as it’s right on the water! My young son thoroughly enjoyed turning the green light on to watch all the fish swim around while we fished. The house itself has plenty of water toys/kayaks to offer for guests which I thought was nice. The reason for four stars instead of 5, is that the golf cart (which was one of the main reasons we wanted to book this rental) wasn’t working properly. We were told the day of check in that it was on it last leg and to be sure it stayed charged when not in use. Sure enough, during our first ride, it broke down on the other side of the neighborhood. Luckily, we were able to revive it long enough to make it back to the house, but decided against trying it again. Overall, it was a nice place to stay and the owners were very kind and responsive. I would recommend it especially if you enjoy fishing!
