Tucked beside Goonengerry House, The Writer’s Room is an intimate, private and romantic hideaway with its own completely private entrance. Set on three acres of rolling hills and birdsong, it’s a serene space for couples to unwind, reconnect and slow the pace.
SLEEP & REST
A queen bed dressed in hotel quality linen offers a cocoon of calm. Soft light filters through the windows, and in the evenings, the sound of nature creates a soothing rhythm for rest and reflection.
CREATIVITY & COMFORT
A small writing desk overlooks the gardens, inviting you to journal, read, or dream. Every item has been thoughtfully chosen — handmade ceramics, and artisan teas blended on Bundjalung land.
OUTDOOR SHOWER & FIRE CIRCLE
Step outside to shower under the sky in spring water sourced from the land. As the day fades, gather around the semi-circle firepit — the heart of the property — and feel the stillness of the hinterland night.
GARDEN & GROUNDS
Wander through the vegetable and herb gardens, pick seasonal produce, and enjoy lemons, mulberries and finger limes when in season. The connection to the land is part of the experience.
LIGHT & LANDSCAPE
From sunrise to moonrise, the light moves beautifully across the property. Morning sun warms the courtyard, afternoon light pours through the front windows, and the night sky reveals a sea of stars.

Guest Access:
Guests have full access to The Writer’s Room and surrounding gardens. While another cottage (Goonengerry House) shares the property, each is positioned for complete privacy and quiet. Both properties can be rented together.

The Byron Hinterland is best explored by car. Having your own vehicle allows you to easily discover nearby villages, beaches, scenic lookouts, waterfalls and nature trails. There’s plenty of parking on the property, and the quiet country roads make every drive a joy.
Other Things to Note:
Please be mindful that The Writers Room is surrounded by native wildlife and farm animals. We ask that guests respect and protect the natural environment, avoid disturbing animals or plants, and leave the land as they found it.
This is a place to slow down and live in harmony with nature — sharing the land with its wild inhabitants is part of what makes your stay here so special.
