Gorgeous REMOTE private Lakefront cottage with Panoramic Views

Looking for an adventure like no other? Come experience our beautiful spacious light-filled cottage situated on the east shores of majestic Lake Winnipeg. Located within the borders of the only protected UNESCO World Heritage Site within Manitoba, our unique area is known for deep boreal forests and untouched wilderness. The Ojibwe name for this area is Pimachiowin Aki (pim MATCH - o win - a KEH) which means "Land that gives life" and "Living the good life on the Land". It is the perfect name for this place; a place where nature and culture come together and are inseparable.
Built in 2013, our lovely getaway has an open-concept living/dining/kitchen area, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, wraparound deck, sunroom, and gorgeous views of the water. Miles from civilization, with just one or two locals to keep you from feeling too isolated, Loon Straits is a hidden gem located on the east shores of Lake Winnipeg, under 3 hours drive north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The drive up to our cottage is so beautiful that you won’t even mind the distance! Our wraparound deck is the ultimate place to bbq, sip a glass of wine or after-dinner cocktail, watch the sunrise with coffee in hand, observe the wildlife (pelicans, ducks, eagles, beaver, muskrats, foxes, the odd moose or bear- the list goes on!) nap in the hammock, or keep an eye on the kids as they cannonball into the water. The lawn is great for playing lawn sports (bocci ball anyone?), tanning, campfires, or yoga. Our private dock and boat launch are steps from the front door so you can launch your canoe or fishing boat in no time.

Things to do:
Great fishing, hiking, exploring, biking, swimming, nature-watching, relaxing, campfires, watching the sunrise and sunset over the water, marvel at the stars, listen to the loons call.
PLEASE NOTE: Our property is remote - meaning there are no grocery stores, restaurants, or gas stations within a 150 km radius of Loon Straits. Please be prepared with enough food, gas, water, spare tires, and a reliable vehicle if you decide to book with us and make the journey! REMEMBER - It's an adventure!

Heaven on Earth

I can't say enough good things about Sharon and her beautiful home. The property was gorgeous and very private. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything you could need. I was impressed with the high quality of care and consideration that obviously went into every detail. Amazing waterfront views and cabin!

The cabin was beautiful, very clean, and had all the amenities your family could need…and more! The view was stunning, and fishing from the front rocks was fun. We went up with our 2 teenagers and had a lovely family time enjoying the cabin, water, and views. We caught several fish, saw a moose, and learned about the history of the area. We would definitely go again!

Hidden Gem

The cabin and area are amazing! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed, and then some. The view was breathtaking and the lake was great for swimming and fishing. The atmosphere was perfect for relaxing and taking it easy. The kittens were a bonus treat for some snuggles and entertainment. The locals are very friendly and the property is very well maintained. Sharon was a great host and we'll definitely be back next year!

Wow! Relaxation at its best

All little off the grid but well worth it. Every amenities you could ask for. But add quiet and a view. Host was available to answer all our questions as well as suggestions. Great place!

Don't let the remote location stop you from booking at this hidden gem. The cabin was amazing and comfortable. Everything was ready, jugs of water, firewood and kindling, kitchen with seasonings and essentials. Fishing was great we caught a whole bunch off the channel dock a short walk away. The few people we ran into were super friendly. Had a amazing time.

Relaxing Holiday

We had a lovely relaxing vacation. No internet or cell service to interrupt the peace. The weather didn’t play ball with us this week as it wasn’t very warm and it was windy every day making the suntanning and fishing not that great. The cabin was lovely and the surrounding area was beautiful and peaceful. The wildlife was abundant to view. The people we did meet were friendly and open to providing any help if needed. We would highly recommend this cottage if you are looking for a remote getaway.

Disconnect and Relax

Modern and spacious cottage so close to the water with a fantastic view of Lake Winnipeg. The kids enjoyed swimming, fishing and kayaking. The large covered deck was wonderful to relax on and feeling the cool breeze off the lake. Having cold drinks from the fridge on the deck was a nice touch. Spent the evenings making smores on the fire pit right by the water and enjoyed the large selection of movies that were provided. Highly recommended if you want to have a lake all to yourself. Quiet and Serene. Just a heads up. Google Map will direct you to go through Hollow Water. Do not go that way as there is no road that connects. Keep on 304 until you turn left onto Rice Road River Road towards Blood Vein.
