EXTRAORDINARY Hale Kuikahi Oceanfront Retreat - fully airconditioned!

  • Step onto the grounds of our oceanfront botanical garden retreat - Hale Kuikahi! Located in the quiet Paukaa area of Hilo just above famed Honolii surf beach, Hale Kuikahi boasts a private botanical garden walk onsite.

    Enjoy sweeping oceanfront views from almost every room in the house. The open kitchen, dining area and living room in the center of the house are accented by large windows and view doors to the ocean. The lanai boasts an overhanging section where you feel like you're on the prow of an ocean liner with nothing but coastline and ocean in your view! The kitchen is fully outfitted for cooking including a walk-in pantry. There are four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The primary suite sits on the far side of the house for privacy. It has a private bathroom with walk-in slate tiled shower, a private door to the oceanfront lanai, a generous king sized bed and lots of closet space. On the other side of the house are three more bedrooms. Bedroom 2 has a king sized bed and large picture widow overlooking the ocean and close access to a full bathroom. Bedroom 3 is a two room suite with a queen sized bed on one side and two twin beds on the other side.
    Bedroom 4 has a king sized bed, private door to the oceanfront lanai and close access to a full bathroom. In total this wing of the house has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. There is a centrally located laundry room for your use. NOTE: the garage is not available for guest use. There are at least 2 parking spaces for guests inside this gated property.

    The most unique feature of Hale Kuikahi is the walking path which leads you down the pali (cliff) and around the property. Admire tropical plants and several meditative garden statues. We maintain this area with great care and hope you will find a retreat from the world in our jungle garden.

    Hilo, Hawaii is still a quiet plantation era town with rich culture and hidden adventures. We provide a printed guide book in the house detailing our favorite restaurants and things to do. If you have specific inquiries our host will help you discover even more of what Hilo and east Hawaii offer. E komo mai (welcome)!

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing home!Our group of 3 couples thoroughly loved our time there. The deck was so relaxing. And the furniture is very comfortable. The A/C was in perfect working order. We felt very secure, as well. Everything was spotless in this large house, as well. The only things that could be improved upon: in the original description, I would have appreciated knowing that there was a king bedroom without a bathroom attached/next door...would have been more economical for the host also. Also, I feel like more bath linens should be available. 5 washcloths for 6 people is simply not enough...and it requires daily laundry with small loads, that would be better time spent out exploring the island.

Beautiful Oceanfront Hale

We were thrilled with the convenient location and picturesque setting for Hale Kuikahi. The spacious home had everything we needed and we were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful welcome basket for our group. Mahalo for a lovely stay -we look forward to retuning to Hale Kuikahi again in the future.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a fantastic property that met all my expectation. If you are interested in uninterrupted relaxation, this is the property for you. The first thing to notice is how clean everything was upon arrival. All of the ocean facing windows were spot free when we arrived. This is very hard to achieve with a coastal property such as this. The sounds of the ocean will transport you day and night. I spent hours sitting on that deck hearing, feeling, and seeing the wonders of the Pacific Ocean beat against the cliff that this place is perched upon. I still hear and feel the ocean a few days after leaving. All up front correspondence was in order with directions and property instructions. Property access was easy and simple. The kitchen is state of the art and previous guests, along with our group have left a few thing that will make future guests life a little easier. The property did lack outdoor seating on the deck. There are two chairs for a home that accommodates 10-12 people. There were only four in my party and we donated four beach chairs and their cases and left them in the laundry room storage cabinets. There is also an outdoor grill. When i asked i was told there was not a grill on the property. Knowing would have changed some of my preliminary shopping at the Kona Costco. There was a local contact that checked in on the day we arrived via text. I know Hilo which gave me an advantage for places to visit and eat. Ken's House of Pancakes, is a must along with Cafe Pesto, Jackie Rey's, Hawaiian Style Cafe and Pineapples. Make sure to Visit the Big Island Candie Company to send those special treats back to your loved ones that couldn't make it. The Botanical Gardens and Akaka Falls are a short distance away and very beautiful. I would recommend this place to every one, and have! Mahalo!

It was wonderful to vacation in this beautiful home with dramatic,sweeping oceanfront on one side and a beautiful rain forest on the other. Our group was really looking for a get-away in the truest sense. So much peace and beauty here. Home was very clean, well-appointed and easy to get to from Hilo. We loved it and would return!
