“The location is a perfect ten, but the staff was far from good. First of all, it took us 1.5 hours to check in, and we didn’t sense any effort to speed up the process. There was a complete lack of willingness from the staff to make our experience enjoyable. Our room was also dirty, which unfortunately aligned with the poor check-in experience. The Tan Hill has the potential to be amazing. It has everything going for it—except the staff, who failed to make our stay pleasant.”

We thought the main bedding could be better with a bit more blackout curtain/blinds as the ambient lights outside were on for a longer period at night - these are some feedback for the sake of it. “We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Oak. The room was basic, but clean and adequate. The bed was comfortable. We ate dinner there as well and it was delicious. The breakfast was good. My husband got the full English and I got scrambled eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs seemed to be the rehydrated kind, but otherwise the meal was good. We would stay here again. ”

“When we first arrived at the hotel we were surprised to find out that the price did not only include breakfast, but a fabulous dinner as well! The room was super nice and fresh and it had a bathtub, which is a plus! The staff was super friendly and helpful. It was only a short walk to the lake, near to the steamers (which you have to go on!) We bought a lunch to take with us that was cheap, good and great to have with you on your day out.
